This research focuses on how the 'Koreanity' inherent in many traditional Korean houses of the upper class is expressed in contemporary 'Korean-style' houses, and how aspects regarded as configurational characteristics of traditional houses are expressed in them. Three types of Korean house (traditional upper class, contemporary Korean-style and contemporary architect) are quantitatively analysed using the space syntax method to investigate of the spatial configuration and their syntactic properties. The research results show that the spatial configuration of traditional houses is more integrated than that of contemporary houses. Furthermore, contemporary Korean-style houses are similar to architect's houses in terms of their spatial configurations. The configurational analyses reveal that the way in which spatial configuration is expressed in contemporary Korean-style houses is significantly different from traditional Korean houses. This result is in direct contrast to the architects' claim that their houses maintain the configurational chracteristics of traditional Korean houses.

The revolution of new media has overthrown the existing social structure and brought about the changes in the concepts of the space and subject. These changes are identical to the existential issue of the space and subject and to fundamental issue of spatial design. This study will interpret the new media in view of ontology and analyze the characteristics by applying it to spatial design. In this study, the characteristics of new media of ontological viewpoint were divided into six categories containing the process space, the space of exterior meaning, the space of the affairs, interactive subject, playful subject and extension of sense, which were the basis for this analysis. The results showed that the expression characteristics of spatial concept of ontology and subject concepts revealed in the areas of architectural surface, the space of art and installation, and architectural design process.

수치지도 2.0을 준공도면을 이용하여 수시 갱신하면 서로 다른 시기에 얻어진 원천 자료로 인해 등고선과 하천간의 공간 충돌이 발생할 수 있어 이에 대한 해결책이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 두 개체간 발생하는 공간충돌의 유형을 정의하고 논리 조건식을 세워 자동으로 탐지하기 위한 방법을 제시하였다.

It is becoming increasingly clear that eukaryotic genomes are subjected to higher-order chromatin organization by the CCCTC-binding factor/cohesin complex. Their dynamic interactions in three dimensions within the nucleus regulate gene transcription by changing the chromatin architecture. Such spatial genomic organization is functionally important for the spatial disposition of chromosomes to control cell fate during development and differentiation. Thus, the dysregulation of proper long-range chromatin interactions may influence the development of tumorigenesis and cancer progression.

만화의 역사에 있어서, 불과 최근 몇 년 전 까지는 인쇄술을 기본으로 하는 출판문화의 시대였다. 미디어 평론가인 마샬 맥루한은 20세기의 만화가 아직도 인쇄, 혹은 조잡한 목판의 성격을 갖고 있다고 말했다. 그러나 1980년대에 들어와서는 '영상만화, CD- ROM 만화, 클릭 만화 등이 출현하여 전통적인 출판만화와는 다른 다양한 형태의 만화가 등장하였다. 출판 외 형식으로 만화를 제작 배포 할 수 있는 전자기기와 인터넷이 발전 대중화 되면서 이러한 현상은 다각화.가속화 되었다. 이처럼 웹툰의 다양한 형식 발전을 기저로 본 연구는 웹툰에 나타난 표현과 인식의 세로영역으로의 확장 현상에 대하여 '수직적 이미지 연상', '종형(縱形) 파노라마', '공간모핑(morphing)'이라는 개념을 제시할 것이다. 또한 전위적이고 역동적인 작품으로 주목받고 있는 강도하의 <로맨스 킬러>, <큐브릭>을 텍스트로 살펴보고 그 의미를 분석할 것이다. 강도하는 2009년, 부천만화정보센터가 한국의 만화 전문가들로부터 설문한 '오늘의 우리 만화가 20인'에 선정되는 등 웹툰시대의 초기부터 현재에 이르기 까지 가장 실험적이고 영향력 있는 웹툰 작가로 인정받고 있으며 이러한 맥락에서 각각 2007년, 2009년에 발표된 그의 두 작품을 분석해 보는 것은 웹툰의 표현과 구조에 대해 보다 다각화된 시점에서의 이해를 도모하고 공간 표현의 확장 예술로서 웹툰의 가치를 조명하는데에 도움이 될 것이다.

User and media are in close coalition with each other in the 21st century's era of New-Media. The new users exposed to the New-Media environment have a complete understanding of the digital media environment, and are also taking on the role of an active identity in the formation of culture in new media. In the field of spatial design, creative spatial interfaces designed through various methods derived from the New-Media environment and technology that weren't even imaginable in the past ultimately came to exist in a mutual relationship with the user, the people. This study is in the same context as studies looking into the establishment of design in media art and digital media space in the New-Media environment. Media art is an outcome arising from the demand towards new art combined with the attempts towards accepting various media as a means for artistic expression. Media art seizes to being a mere part of art, but more. This study aims to look into the theoretical basis of New-Media and define the design process through the expressional characteristics and triggered thoughts thereof. Lastly, the results of the research will be put together to produce the final results. Such analysis process will be the basis of the creation of a new paradigm and spatial thought, and allow people to be concerned about the various changes in spatial formation.

The checking stresses in the Chinese codes for reinforced concrete (RC) or prestressed concrete (PC) bridges are aimed for the thin-web beam, which cannot reflect the actual behavior of the modern structures. The incompleteness of the checking stresses could give rise to the deficiency in the design and calculation, and unable to reveal the reason of some common cracks in the structure. In this paper, the complete stress checklist for RC or PC girder bridges are listed, as well as the corresponding crack shapes. The expression of the complete checking stresses is proposed in details. Spatial Grid Model can reflect all the concerned stresses in the structure. Through the comparison of the calculation results from the spatial grid model and the solid model, it is seen that the spatial grid model can reflect load effects such as shear lag effect, thin-wall effect and local effect. The stresses obtained from the spatial grid model could help engineers to have a good understanding of the structural behavior. Meanwhile, the stress checklist provides the information for analyzing and solving the deficiency in the structure.

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) induces gene silencing in a sequence-specific manner by a process known as RNA interference (RNAi). The RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) is a multi-subunit ribonucleoprotein complex that plays a key role in RNAi. VIG (Vasa intronic gene) has been identified as a component of Drosophila RISC; however, the role VIG plays in regulating RNAi is poorly understood. Here, we examined the spatial and temporal expression patterns of VIG-1, the C. elegans ortholog of Drosophila VIG, using a vig-1::gfp fusion construct. This construct contains the 908-bp region immediately upstream of vig-1 gene translation initiation site. Analysis by confocal microscopy demonstrated GFP-VIG-1 expression in a number of tissues including the pharynx, body wall muscle, hypodermis, intestine, reproductive system, and nervous system at the larval and adult stages. Furthermore, western blot analysis showed that VIG-1 is present in each developmental stage examined. To investigate regulatory sequences for vig-1 gene expression, we generated constructs containing deletions in the upstream region. It was determined that the GFP expression pattern of a deletion construct (${\Delta}-908$ to -597) was generally similar to that of the non-deletion construct. In contrast, removal of a larger segment (${\Delta}-908$ to -191) resulted in the loss of GFP expression in most cell types. Collectively, these results indicate that the 406-bp upstream region (-596 to -191) contains essential regulatory sequences required for VIG-1 expression.

This study is concentrated on the specified relationship between the contemporary art and the interior design by investigation their situational connections through the expresison of their works. Each fields of modern art makes expressive situation more complicated and transforms its unintelligible and expressive outputs variously. The expression is the basis of the incompatibility of the modern art which features the ambivalence of the various tendency and the characteristics of the artists works as well as the disappearance of the typical genre of the art. The new expression such as the spatial recognition of the paintings and the participatio of the real, expreimental examples of the modern art enlarges its realm. The field interior design which has the close relationship with the fine arts need to make a new discussion or a theory among the progressive expression and the various tendencies of the art. Through this research, by reviewing the intermixed and expressed features of the artists works and designers projects which went far beyond the concepts and genre, the interrelationship between expression tendency of the contemporary art and the interior design has been specified.

Three different catalase cDNA clones (CaCat1, CaCat2, and CaCat3) were isolated from hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), and their expression patterns were analyzed at the levels of mRNA and enzyme activity. Northern hybridization showed that the three catalase genes were differentially expressed in various organs, and that expression of CaCat1 and CaCat2 was regulated differently by the circadian rhythm. In situ hybridization revealed different spatial distributions of CaCat1 and CaCat2 transcripts in leaf and stem. In response to wounding and paraquat treatment, CaCat1 mRNA increased at 4-12 h in both paraquat-treated and systemic leaves. In contrast, wounding had no significant effect on expression of the catalase genes. The increase of catalase activity in the paraquat-treated and systemic leaves paralleled that of CaCat1 mRNA, but did not match that of CaCat1 mRNA in paraquat-treated stems. Our results suggest that CaCat1 may play a role in responses to environmental stresses.
