A Study on Daylighting Performance of an Inner Court with Reflecting Mirror System (반사거울 방식을 이용한 중정 내 자연채광 성능 분석 연구)

  • To lead lighting inside, design solution and mechenical solution can be used.A inner court and atrium are samples for design solution. However, physical and environmental elements for building design are not taken positively into consideration. So low position of the inner court is difficult to reach lighting performance and a urban landscape gets damaged. On this study, selecting a building with a inner court, best design method is suggested to apply reflecting mirror. building direction, building shape and solar position are considered to deside the setting angle for reflecting mirror. Performance for the setting reflecting mirror is verified through various simulation cases, and is got more lighting performance than the present situation on the building inside.

An Experimental Study on Plant Factory System Applied Photovoltaic System and LED Lighting (태양전지와 LED 조명을 이용한 가정용식물공장 시스템 실증시험)

  • Plant factory industry as a new agriculture is in the spotlight. In this paper, we experimented plant factory applied photovoltaic system and LED lighting. For growing the plant, red, blue and white LED were placed into 1:4:3. Electric power generated by the photovoltaic system was supplied on DC power supply instead of AC. The designed and experimented power generation amount per day of photovoltaic system were 2,860 Wh and 2,272 Wh respectively. Plant has not been grown at the dead space of LED lighting so it is required to array LED lighting.

  • The solar lighting system has been popular in these days. It is composed of solar panel, controller, and battery. The battery is charged during the day time, and discharged at the night time. The battery status should be carefully controlled in order to guarantee the safe operation. If there were measurement noise or system noise, the performance of controller could be degraded. In this paper, the state estimator design in the noisy environment is proposed. The proposed system shows the excellent tracking performance under in harsh conditions.

  • Recently, from a saving energy and environmental lighting sources point of view, using LED lighting have been increased rapidly. The colors of light was applied to the control of dimmers that is composed of red, green, blue, and white(RGBW) to improve the quality of visual environment. Moreover this study has been processed to develop adjustable dynamic LED lighting system on SPD and definitize the various spectral power distribution and color temperature of light through the control of the four dimmers. It is possible to combine up to $432^4$ kinds of light. Measurement of illuminance of range on working surface was as 7~l,831 lux. Application of visual environment for occupants can be expected according to control of lighting performance.

  • In the photovoltaic power system, it is required that we obtain as much as generated power as possible. This paper describes improved stand-alone photovoltaic system efficiency(SPVS) using the sun position tracker for the solar lighting lamp through the comparison test of the power efficiency between the tacking type and the non-tacking type one.

Development of Daylighting System with Modified Light Pipe for Longer Transmission Distance and Higher Illuminance

  • In this research, we present a natural lighting system with transmission distance of 30m and lighting efficiency of 35% (30m standard) for operating hours of 7h/day (based on clear sky). The system is composed of parabolic reflective mirror and modified light pipe that can secure more than 88% of light concentration efficiency. The light loss rate of newly designed light pipe transmission system is demonstrated to 0.8 %/m in the straight-line part and 2%/m in the curved part. Modified light pipe daylighting system shows better performance over fiber optic daylighting system in terms of transmission distance (1.5 times longer) and illuminance (3.05 times higher).

  • The flooded type battery is used for solar lighting system. Because the characteristic of flooded type battery is the short life time, the maintenance cost is high. So the using floe fed type battery in this system is inappropriate. The valve regulated lead acid batter(VRLA) is the maintenance free and cycle service purpose. This paper presents the development of control system and monitoring system to applied VRLA battery for maintenance free and long life time in system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the state-of-the-art solar energy system design cases among LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified school projects and to explore the feasibilities for their applications in domestic school design. Investigating the sold wattages in some kinds of buildings, the wattages per an educational facility is the second-largest after that per an industrial facility. That shows that our attention should be actively directed to the utilization of New and Renewable Energy in school facilities. Therefore photovoltaics systems, lighting systems and solarthermal facilities of solar energy systems were analyzed in the LEED cases. Findings demonstrate that applications of solar energy systems in K-12 educational facilities have been executed more than those in higher educational facilities. However, K-12 educational facilities and higher educational facilities by private funds are not categorized as Green Buildings by Support for Making Green Buildings Act. That fact is needed to be amended. Besides that, design developments are needed for building integrated photovoltaics systems and solarthermal facilities in domestic educational facilities.

  • In these days, most of the office buildings are being required to save energy for maintenance. lighting system constitutes 20% to 30% of the total annual electrical energy consumption in office buildings. As an energy saving strategy for lighting system, dimming control system based on illuminance sensors came into use. But the system is accompanied with many illuminance sensors to control lighting and needs a lot of initial investment. In this study, the prediction equation for indoor daylighting illuminance distribution is proposed through the review for conventional research results and field measurements. The proposed equation was verified by the comparison between predicted results and field measurement results. The developed prediction equation for daylighting can be used to control the indoor illuminance level with the limited sensor when dimming control system is operated.

The limited natural resources of fossil fuel would be dried up in several decades, and the intensity of diplomatic negotiations for natural resource guarantee among countries may be showed looking alike an war. The drain of fossil fuel called a new word of alternative policy like an environment-friendly green-growth, and the solar-cell and lighting technology for the solar energy applications were developed still more repeatedly day by day from oil lantern to LED high-tech illumination in great economy. Therefore, it was studied that the low-carbon green-growth illumination technology in cave applications with SOLAR-LED system which was produced and unified in connection with solar-cell and LED from the semiconductor production technology, and it was also clarified in necessary with useful cave lighting in heatless and with no photosynthesis of plant production in underground space.
