High series resistance due to the presence of glass frit is one of the major problems for screen printed silicon solar cells. Cells having electrical parameters below the prescribed values are usually rejected during solar module fabrication. Therefore, it is highly desirable to improve the electrical parameters of the silicon solar cells and thereby to increase the overall production yield. It was observed that, the performance of low quality mono-crystalline silicon solar cells made by standard screen printing technology could be improved remarkably by novel surface treatment. We have chemically treated the surface using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$) solutions. NaOH treatment helps to reduce the series resistance by decreasing the presence of excess glass frit on the top silver grid contact. The $AgNO_3$ treatment is used to reduce the series resistance comes from the deposition of silver on the grids by filling the holes present (if any) within the grid pattern.
This paper presents a study on the design for contamination preventation system of solar battery. The system of contamination preventation has an wind amplifier. Wind amplifier is conceptually designed by using TRIZ. The surface of solar battery is covered with dust during accumulate the energy. The dust cause reduce power of photovoltaic module and efficiency drop of photovoltaic system. Reflect and absorb of incident ray are caused by the dust on surface of solar battery. The solution of this problem has been derived using 6SC(6 steps creativity)TRIZ. The wind amplifier which has structure such as funnel shape. The incident wind in the wide hole is amplified by the gate become narrow. The system of contamination preventation with wind amplifier which mounted on the side of the solar battery surface reduces the reflect and absorb and improve the efficiency of photovoltaic system.

Operating conditions of photovoltaic power generator is very sensitive to the PV modules. The PV module's control is an importance issue in the removing DC ripple noise. In this paper, the phase-shifted-carrier technique, which is a new three-step dc-dc power multi-converter schemes, is applied to solar generator system to improve the output current waveform. The novel type of three-step dc-dc converter presented has many features such as the good output waveform, high efficiency, low switching losses, low acoustic noise. The circuit configuration is constructed by the conventional full-bridge type converter circuit using the isolated DC power supply for which the solar cell is very suitable. In the end, a circuit design for understanding three-step dc-dc converter and new solar power system were presented

This paper presents the performance evaluation of PV systems installed at Tibet area of China in order to identity the key factors that determines system operation at a severe climate conditions and promote the cooperation of PV technology between Korea and China. The installed systems consist of 100kW on-grid connected PV systems, BOS(balance of systems), data acquisition and transmission equipments. The Korea side supplied the solar cell, BOS like as inverter, control box and monitoring system. And the Chinese side assembled solar module, constructed site and built control house. It has been shown that the average radiation per monthly from Tibet is 1.5 times larger than that from Mokpo. Also, radiation time from Tibet is 2hour higher than that from Korea. The economical analysis has shown that with the current prices, investment in a grid connected PV systems is generally profitable

The excessive need of power is creating an unbalance situation in power sector, where solar energy is one of the best solutions among other energy sources to mitigate this demand. It is globally accepted because of its flexibility and long life compared to others. A lot research is going on to enhance the energy efficiency by introducing photovoltaic (PV) power generation technology, but still irradiation of PV power is the major problem. In this manuscript, we have designed PV module using single diode methodology and also the solar conversion efficiency was boosted with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) by using perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm. The simulation was done for $1000W/m^2$ and $800W/m^2$ at solar irradiance in cell temperature of 25C and 40C degree levels in PSIM tool.
This study aimed at developing a down jacket prototype that utilized sunlight as an alternative energy source with no air pollution. The jacket is filled with flexible solar panels and has a heat-generating function and LED function. In this study, three smart down jacket prototypes were developed, and the jacket's capabilities were demonstrated through the thermal effect on the performance test. The typical output voltage of the flexible solar panels was 6.4V. By connecting the 2 solar cell modules in series, the final output voltage was 12.8V. A battery charge regulator module was used the KA 7809 (TO-220) of 9V. Three heating pads were to be inserted into the belly of the jacket as direct thermal heating elements, and the LED module was configured, separated by a flash and an indicator. The smart down jacket was designed to prevent damage to the down pack without the individual devices' interfering with the human body's motion. Because this study provides insulation from extreme cold with a purpose, the jacket was tested for heat insulation properties of non-heating, heating on the back, heating on the abdomen, and heating on both the back and abdomen in a sitting posture in a static state. Thermal property analysis results from examining the average skin temperature, core temperature, and the temperature and humidity within clothing showed, that placing a heating element in one place was more effective than distributing the heating elements in different locations. Heating on the back was the most effective for maintaining optimal skin temperature, core temperature, and humidity, whereas heating on the abdomen was not effective for maintaining optimal skin temperature, core temperature, or humidity within clothing because of the gap between the jacket and the body.
Environmentally benign lead-free solder coated ribbon (e. g. SnCu, SnZn, SnBi${\cdots}$) has been intensively studied to interconnect cells without lead mixed ribbon (e. g. SnPb) in the crystalline silicon(c-Si) photovoltaic modules. However, high melting point (> $200^{\circ}C$) of non-lead based solder provokes increased thermo-mechanical stress during its soldering process, which causes early degradation of PV module with it. Hence, we proposed low-temperature conductive paste (CP) based tabbing method for lead-free ribbon. Modules, interconnected by the lead-free solder (SnCu) employing CP approach, exhibits similar output without increased resistivity losses at initial condition, in comparison with traditional high temperature soldering method. Moreover, 400 cycles (2,000 hour) of thermal cycle test reveals that the module integrated by CP approach withstands thermo-mechanical stress. Furthermore, this approach guarantees strong mechanical adhesion (peel strength of ~ 2 N) between cell and lead-free ribbons. Therefore, the CP based tabbing process for lead free ribbons enables to interconnect cells in c-Si PV module, without deteriorating its performance.

We report finding ways to improve the long-term reliability of PV module including the heterostructure with the intrinsic thin layer (HIT) solar cell. We point out the stability of the products of Panasonic HIT cell. We account for a brief description of the module manufacturing process to investigate the issues of each process and analyze the causes. We carried out the silicon PV module of the glass to glass type under the damp heat test around 1000 hours. However, it degraded around 7% of PV module power after 300 hours exposure in comparison with the initial status (Initial: 12.7 Watt). We investigated possible cause and solutions for the module performance to develop the long-term reliability.
Int this paper, we studied the analysis on long-term durability and output power characteristics of PV modules by variation on local thermal property. Using 5 modules(80W), we measured the maximum output power change during the test period. And the optical transmittance of glass was compared with PV module's maximum power fluctuation. The external environment change effected contamination on the entire or local surface of module. This caused the local temperature variation of each solar cell on PV module. The specific analysis is shown in the following paper.
As Building Integrated Photovoltaic(BIPV) system replaces the conventional building finishing materials with PV modules, two function of electricity generation and building envelope can be expected. Therefore BIPV can be a good alternative technology for the 21 century environment-friendly buildings. The objective of this paper is to develope BIPV modules for a commercial buildings of which structure is mainly light-weight, curtain wall system. Two types of module are developed for a opaque part and a transparent part of building envelope. Current technology level and market status of Korea determines the configuration of developed BIPV modules. Architectural considerations for the integration of PV module to building envelope such as building structure, construction type, safety, regulation, maintenance etc. have been carefully reflected from the early stage of BIPV module design. Especially the survey result of current building envelope materials determines the size of unit BIPV modules and a unique cladding method for PV module installation is developed. Trial product of BIPV modules and cladding hardwares are manufactured and sample construction details for a demonstration building are proposed.
