A Study of Data Representation Education for Elementary Students (초등학생을 위한 데이터 표현 교육에 관한 연구)

  • Data are numbers and texts, images, sound etc in real world. But, data is represented as a sequence of 1s and 0s in computer. It is very difficult that elementary students understand the concept of data representation through traditional lecture method. In this paper, we analyzed the software education curriculum of KAIE and selected contents of data representation education for the mid-grade elementary students. Also, we developed teaching- learning materials and multimedia contents for data representation education. The method proposed in this paper is expected to contribute to software education for data representation education.

  • Currently, general educational science experiment teaching aids cannot be accurately measured, and even MBL experiment teaching aids consist of sensor-oriented programs that is difficult to actively design experiments by focusing only on securing data. This study envisioned a science experiment parish system capable of software convergence experiment design through curriculum analysis, and designed the entire system architecture, frame, and mechanism of MBL-based science experiment parish system by supplementing the limitations of the existing experiment.

Study on Teaching and Learning Methods of Embedded Application Software Using Elevator Simulator (엘리베이터 시뮬레이터를 활용한 임베디드 어플리케이션 소프트웨어 교수학습방법 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a design and development method of an elevator simulator that can be used as an embedded application layer software learning tool and a teaching and learning method using it. The simulator provides students with an environment to implement the operating principle and control method of the elevator system in the application layer excluding the issues of hardware and embedded OS layer. This allows students to have a reactive and real-time embedded application development experience. In addition, we present a four-week embedded application software training course with hands-on exercises that add step-by-step functionality using a simulator. As a result of training for actual students, we obtained 83.3 points of learning achievement score and proved that the curriculum has a significant effect on embedded application learning.

Research on the Content to Develop Instructor's Certification for Software Education

  • In this paper, we propose to discover the certification items and to study the content system for SW education instructors, including SW education based on basic teaching-learning capabilities and Computational Thinking(CT). To this end, SW education instructor qualification were divided into three classes using methods such as prior case studies, Delphi surveys, and expert meetings, and the certification evaluation areas were divided into large areas of 'Teaching and Learning Method' and 'Software Education' reflecting primary and secondary curriculum. Sub-areas and content elements for each series were set and verified through expert Delphi survey. Such research is expected to contribute to the spread and dissemination of SW education by being used meaningfully when establishing a system that fosters SW education instructors and maintains and manages the quality of instructors.

  • In the existing education using the globe. teaching contents are very simple and the relationship among learning units lacks a little bit because teaching materials are composed individually with the globe. Therefore, in this study, we developed the education glove system based on multimedia that is closely connected with teaching materials and the globe. This system is composed of the globe device and the learning software based on computer control. The globe device rotates itself on its axis as the solar center, and provides more efficient and visual education environment to students through the link between computer and the globe. The learning software provides the multimedia contents such as parallax, climate, culture, and education information about each country, and this software also can simulate the revolution of the earth around the sun. The globe device can be operated in off-line without the computer link. This system was developed by the industry cooperation and was displayed in the principal exhibitions. We have obtained positive results through the exhibitions and will promote the product in the future.

The Effect of Software Education Teaching Efficacy(SE-TE) of In-service Teachers on Backward Design based TPACK-P Teachers' Training Program (백워드 설계 기반 TPACK-P 교육 프로그램이 교사의 SW교육 교수효능감(SE-TE)에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop TPACK-P teachers' training program based on backward design included understanding of backward design principles in order to enhance teachers' professionalism of software education and informatics education. This teachers' training program was conducted for non-informatics teachers in 32 hours. As a results, teachers showed that post-test result of SE-TEBI was higher than pre-test and the t-test results showed that the total value of SE-TE was t=-3.541(p< .01), subscale PSETE was t=-3.559( p< .01) and SEOE was t=-2.258(p< .05). Therefore, we demonstrate that it helps improve the teaching professionalism of teachers. However, as a result of the test, teachers' PSETE tend to be lower in SEOE, which is interpreted as a lack of confidence in the lessons. Therefore, in further study, it is necessary to develop a teacher education program that can promote the confidence of teachers.

  • A class is a complex and interactive process between a teacher and students. This paper describes a software design and implementation of the tool easily to analyze and quantize teaching ability. Our proposed software is implemented based on Flanders linguistic method. The software can easily represent the linguistic analysis results by abstracted graphic drawings. We carry out the performance test of our implemented software targeting incumbent teachers. In the experimental, we could demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of our implemented software.

  • Bioinformatics education can be defined as the teaching and learning of how to use software tools, along with mathematical and statistical analysis, to solve biological problems. Although many resources are available, most students still struggle to understand even the simplest sequence alignment algorithms. Applying visualizations to these topics benefits both lecturers and students. Unfortunately, educational software for visualizing step-by-step processes in the user experience of sequence alignment algorithms is rare. In this article, an educational visualization tool for biological sequence alignment is presented, and the source code is released in order to encourage the collaborative power of open-source software, with the expectation of further contributions from the community in the future. Two different modules are integrated to enable a student to investigate the characteristics of alignment algorithms.

  • In general, it is this variety of learning methods and teaching tools for embedded software development and deployment training. In this paper, I want to take advantage of the smart robot to learn creative problem-solving methods that are required in embedded software engineering education. It analyzes the effect of creative engineering education with the smart robot and presents for RSPM Engineering Embedded SW teaching methods to improve NCS education. Embedded SW engineering education in a more creative and smart robot, EV3 system was utilized to improve SW programming skills. In this paper, we utilize the EV3 system to the parish through the creative RSPM engineering courses through the survey and analysis of the impact level, interests and program skills and influence in embedded SW engineering education propose for successful embedded software programming skills potential.

  • Research on software education and linking and convergence of other subjects has been mainly focused on mathematics and science subjects. The dissatisfaction of various preferences and types of learning personality cause to learning gap. In addition, it is not desirable considering the solution of various fusion problems that can apply the computational thinking. In this way, it is possible to embrace the diverse tendencies and preferences of students through the linkage with the English subject, which is a linguistic approach that deviates from the existing mathematical and scientific approach. By combining similarities in the process of learning a new language of English education and software education. For this purpose, based on the analysis of teaching - learning model of elementary English subject and software education, we developed a class model by modifying existing English subject and software teaching - learning model to be suitable for linkage. Then, the learning elements applicable to software education were extracted from the contents of elementary school English curriculum, and a program applied to the developed classroom model was designed and the practical application method of learning was searched.
