Many software reliability growth models (SRGM's) based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) have been proposed by many researchers. Most of the SRGM's which have been proposed up to the present treat the event of software fault-detection in the testing and operational phases as a counting process. However, if the size of the software system is large, the number of software faults detected during the testing phase becomes large, and the change of the number of faults which are detected and removed through debugging activities becomes sufficiently small compared with the initial fault content at the beginning of the testing phase. Therefore, in such a situation, we can model the software fault-detection process as a stochastic process with a continuous state space. In this paper, we propose a new software reliability growth model describing the fault-detection process by applying a mathematical technique of stochastic differential equations of an Ito type. We also compare our model with the existing SRGM's in terms of goodness-of-fit for actual data sets.

In real software business environment, there are required to validate software quality in diverse usage range of software for many small & medium companies. Software quality means both qualities of production and process. In our situation, we focus on better process quality of a test organization than a whole organization. But even the original test maturity model (TMM) does not enough to apply with our domestic venture/small & medium companies. To solve this problem, we suggest the simplified test maturity model for our companies. We redefine this simplified model with the original TMM and a test process improvement next (TPI next) model. The previous models just have provided each definition of maturity level, goal and activity per each level, which not exists an assessment guideline and a formal assessing procedure. Due to this reasons, an assessor is difficult to assess the test organization without them. this paper suggest an assessment guideline of the simplified TMM and also define the procedure which is included with activities and byproducts. With these assessment guideline, an assessor can work possible to formally assess test organizations of small & medium companies, and with self assessment guideline they can be correctly provision before assessment of their organizations.

The purpose of this study is to develop a debugging task to support process-centered assessment on software(SW) education and to develop a service site. Achievement criteria for programming in elementary and middle school SW curriculum consists of control structures such as repetition and condition, and elements such as variables and input/output. In order to apply the process-centered assessment presented by the Ministry of Education, it is necessary to present tasks that can be used in the actual classroom environment and to consider connection with achievement levels. Therefore, in this study, 12 tasks for elementary school and 15 tasks for middle school were developed as debugging tasks and their validity was verified. As a result of conducting Delphi verification for validity, it was found that the level and content of the debugging task are appropriate. In addition, as a result of verifying the usability of the debugging challenge site by applying a heuristic evaluation method, it was found that it is suitable for use in the real educational field.
This paper is the Software Hazard Analysis (SWHA) which will study the managerial process and the technical methode and techniques inherent in the performance of software safety task within the Military Aircraft System Safety program. This SWHA identifies potential hazardous effects on the software intensive systems and provides a comprehensive and qualitative assessment of the software safety. The purpose of this paper is to identify safety critical functions of software in Military A/C. The identified software hazards associated with the design or function will be evaluated for risks and operational constraint to further improve the software design requirement, analysis and testing efforts for safety critical software. This common SWHA, the first time analysis in KOREA, was review all avionics OFP(Operational Flight Program), and focus only on software segments which are safety critical. This paper provides a important understanding between the customer and developer as to how the software safety for the Military A/C will be accomplished. It will also provide the current best solution which may as one consider the necessary step in establishing a credible and cost-effective software safety program.

It is recognized that safety is a key point of technical competency. Its adoption is widely spread in development of products and it is essentially necessary in aerospace industry because airborne system and equipment are used complex high-technology and implemented systematic performance using software. This study reviews system safety assessment, development assurance level, airborne software, RTCA DO-178 process, and considerations & pitfalls in software development.
In this paper, we propose a software reliability growth model based on the testing domain in the software system, which is isolated by the executed test cases in software testing. In particular, our model assumes an imperfect debugging environment in which new faults are introduced in the fault-correction process, and is formulated as a nonhomogeneous Poisson process(NHPP). Further, it is applied to fault-detection data, the results of software reliability assessment are shown, and comparison of goodness-of-fit with the existing software reliability growth model is performed.

The process of correcting, upgrading, and improving software products after they have been handed over to the consumer is known as software maintenance. Offshore software maintenance outsourcing (OSMO) clients benefit from cost savings, time savings, and improved quality software through OSMO. In most circumstances, the OSMO vendor makes a lot of money but not in all the cases. Especially, when the OSMO project offer is not properly assessed. An efficient outsourcing contract might yield successful outcomes for outsourced projects. But before sending a detailed proposal to bid on the OSMO project the vendor must have to assess the client's project (business offer) requirements. The purpose of this study is to find out common trends within the assessment of a OSMO project. A case study approach along with semi-structured interviews from eight companies concluded ten common practices and several roles. Among these practices, four (code structure, requirements, communication barriers and required infrastructure) were consistent amongst the responses .The findings, limitations and future work are discussed.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of DGS(dynamic geometry software) for the assessment of reasoning ability and the influence of DGS on the process of assessing students' reasoning ability in middle school geometry. We developed items for assessing students' reasoning ability by using DGS in the connected form of 'construction - inductive reasoning - deductive reasoning'. And then, a case study was carried out with 5 students. We analyzed the results from 3 perspectives, that is, the assessment of students' construction ability, inductive reasoning ability, and justification types. Items can help students more precisely display reasoning ability Moreover, using of DGS will help teachers easily construct the assessment items of inductive reasoning, and widen range of constructing items.
Numerous software vulnerabilities have been found in the popular operating systems. And recently, robust linear behaviors in software vulnerability discovery process have been noticeably observed among the many popular systems having multi-versions released. Software users need to estimate how much their software systems are risk enough so that they need to take an action before it is too late. Security vulnerabilities are discovered throughout the life of a software system by both the developers, and normal end-users. So far there have been several vulnerability discovery models are proposed to describe the vulnerability discovery pattern for determining readiness for patch release, optimal resource allocations or evaluating the risk of vulnerability exploitation. Here, we apply a linear vulnerability discovery model into Windows operating systems to see the linear discovery trends currently observed often. The applicability of the observation form the paper show that linear discovery model fits very well with aggregate version rather than each version.

This study is to answer the following three questions: (1) What is SPICE? (2) Is it flexible enough to be applied to the small projects such as the ones owned by local companies and government agencies. The standards and models which comprise SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination) or IS0/IEC 15504 were thoroughly reviewed first Based on the standards, we developed a methodology for the assessment of software processes was developed. Then the methodology is applied for the assessment for three projects in Kwangju area. For this experiment, a university, a district office, and a IT company were selected. Both the development application of the methodology was considered to be successful. As we go through the assessment, we can be convinced that the foundation of the SPICE is very sound. As we stick to the principles of SPICE, the assessment methodology that we developed worked well. The study suggests several implications for the policy making.
