  • The purpose of the study is to present the social welfare center planning factors of space for promoting intergenerational exchanges between the elderly and children. To achieve the purpose, the study conducted a survey of professionals on the importance of planning factors. The results are as follows. First, it is surveyed that less high are Korean social welfare center planning and availability extents of space for intergenerational exchanges, while less no profound are the necessity and concern of such spaces. The result suggests that social welfare centers need a concrete planning of space for intergenerational exchanges. Second, it is identified that in order to promote intergenerational exchanges, there need to plan planning factors of each space, especially with focus on 'outdoor space' and 'specific space.' Third, it is revealed that regarding the importance of factors of 'specific space,' physical supports account for the high rates; architectural factors providing free space contribute to the supports of physical development; and decorative factors giving visual effects could be helpful for behaviors. Fourth, it is unveiled that the supports of physical behaviors are of the most importance in 'connecting space'. This would be planned as a path that gives a free access in spaces, with attention being paid to safety. Lastly, it is shown that in the case of 'outdoor space,' the supports of physical development are of the most importance. Given the fact that 'outdoor space' offers a wider scope of activities, and accommodates various available elements in connection with surrounding environments, it is considered that the space would be of help for intergenerational interactions. The study is expected to be utilized as the preliminary data which proposes the social welfare center planning factors of space for promoting intergenerational exchanges between the elderly and children.

The progress of each group was shared, the application of practice methods and plans were discussed, and applying discussed methods to group practice and reviewing the process and outcomes of the practice were repeated in the peer supervison. As a result, the following positive changes appeared: First, the goals and vision of each group became clearer. Second, initiative of the members was promoted. Third, intimacy, mutual cooperation, the attatchment to the group were strengthened. A qualitative analysis was also conducted on the content discussed. • This study purposed to examine elderly welfare facilities by type, to analyze their local variations, and ultimately to contribute to the expansion of elderly welfare infrastructure. The results are expected to help inspect elderly welfare infrastructure for providing the aged with social services before the execution of 'the insurance for elderly long term care' and establish welfare facilities by area in the future. For these purposes, we used the national data "The Current State of Elderly Welfare Facilities in 2007" produced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. We digitized elderly welfare facilities in 163 cities and counties by type and analyzed them by area. We also examined the differences in the local distribution of representative elderly welfare facilities such as elderly welfare centers, home based facilities (home helper centers), asylums for the aged and elderly care facilities in 16 cities and provinces. Furthermore, we analyzed differences and problems in their local distribution urban areas, mixed areas of urban and rural communities, and rural areas. In addition, we studied the current state of institutionalized care and home based care, which are two major directions of current elderly welfare policies, based on the local distribution of facilities and analyzed differences in the trends according to area. According to these results, the urban had more home based care facilities than the rural. However, the rural had more institutionalized care facilities than urban. Also, each local self-governing body showed unique characteristics. Therefore, these results suggest that we need to establish elderly welfare policies based on the distribution of facility types by area.

  • Purpose: This study examined characteristics and patterns of interorganizational networks for smoking prevention and cessation in Korea. Methods: We surveyed two community health centers, ninety-five hospitals or clinics, ninety- two pharmacies, and sixty-five health welfare organizations in two districts of Seoul in 2020. Data on the organizations' characteristics of smoking cessation and interorganizational activities for information sharing, client referral, and program collaboration were collected and analyzed using network statistics and blockmodeling. Results: Network size was in the order of information sharing, client referral, and program collaboration networks. Network patterns for interorganizational activities on information sharing, client referral, and program collaboration among four organizations were similar between the two districts. Community health centers provided information and received clients from a majority of the organizations. Their interactions were not unidirectional but mutual with other organizations. Pharmacies were involved in information sharing with health welfare organizations and client referrals to hospitals or clinics. Health welfare organizations were primarily connected with the community health centers for client referrals and program collaboration. Conclusion: A community health center is the lead agency in interorganizational activities for smoking prevention and cessation. However, hospitals or clinics, pharmacies, and health welfare organizations also participate in interorganizational networks for smoking prevention and cessation with diverse roles. This study would be evidence for developing future interorganizational networks for smoking prevention and cessation.
