  • In fact, smoking is prohibited in elevators. It is morally wrong to smoke in elevators. In addition, smoking can be very fatal for our children and for women. In this paper, forensic evidence is submitted to court by people who smoke in elevators. Shots around the face of the person in the elevator extracted partially by scene change detection. Smokers is extracted that the white bar is at the mouth biter. People spouting smoke extraction will proceed in the future. It is extracted by using technology of color histogram, one of the scene change detection method. The extract is a much more accurate extraction ratio than the methods that do not use scene change detection.

  • Smoking in elevators is a criminal offense that is included in a misdemeanor. Because of that smoking in elevators can be very critical for our growing children and weak women. In this paper, we would like to extract criminals doing this criminal offense to smoke in elevators. Extraction method detect difference value using modified color-X2-test and it was normalized. Next, we find frames that has occurred scene change in successive frames using the four-step algorithm of scene change detection. Finally, we present the method of smoking image retrieval and extraction in stored large amount of video. In the experiment, we show process and number of scene change detection, and the number of video searched per retrieval time. The extracted smoking video is to submit as evidence for the police or court.

  • Objectives: While cinema is regarded in the contemporary popular leisure activities, the presentation smoking scenes in films has not been fully studied. We investigated Korean box-office hit movies by using content analysis. Methods: We sampled fifty-one hit films played in Korean cinemas during the period 2000-2013. Here, a hit film is defined as a movie viewed by at least 5,000,000 audiences. Results: We found that 78.1% of the Korean hit films contained smoking scenes, whereas only 15.6% of the American hit films were so. Films with the more frequent number of smoking scenes could be lined up in the order of crime, thriller, and action genres (p<.05). Smoking actors were leading roles, hence attractive characters appealing to the audience. Moreover, the smoking rate of female characters in the films was determined to be 3.66 times greater than the actual smoking rate of females in reality. Conclusions: Smoking scenes are likely to affect the audiences' cognitive priming and/or social learning with respect to smoking. Therefore, it would be necessary to set a restriction standard to the frequency of smoking scenes to appear Korean films, and to consider it as an important factor in the assigning a screening grade to such films.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare beliefs about social rule, differential peer association, perceived behavioral control, intention of smoking, and self efficacy for rejecting smoking among smokers, reformed smokers, and non smokers in adolescence. The subjects were 576 adolescents in middle and high school, living in K city. The data was collected through questionnaires from December 1st to 18th, 2002 was analyzed using descriptive statistics, x²-test, and ANOVA. 1) The general characteristics and characteristics related to smoking among smokers, reformed smokers, and non smokers in adolescence showed differences as follows: sex, mother's education, monthly allowance, thinking about teacher's smoking, feelings about the smoking scene, thinking about father's smoking, drinking, satisfaction of school, and sexual experience. 2) Belief about social rule, differential peer association, perceived behavioral control, intention of smoking, and self efficacy for rejecting smoking among the three groups showed differences as follows: smokers have a lower belief about social rule, lower perceived behavioral control, lower self-efficacy for rejecting smoking, but higher differential peer association and higher intention of smoking than those of reformed smokers and non smokers. We recommend the development of a nursing program for anti-smoking behavior including the research factors affecting attitudes of smoking adolescents.

  • Purpose : This study are the secondary data of Global Youth Tobacco Survey(GYTS) developed by the WHO and United State Center for Disease Control(CDC) and Prevention to trace tobacco use among youth in youth in countries across the world. This study was carried out to serve for a basis for antismoking campaigns and to prevent adolescents from smoking by analyzing the smoking by analyzing the smoking realities factors. Methods : This study is a cross-sectional school-based survey, which employed a two-stage cluster sample design to produce a nationally representative sample of middle school students aged 13 to 15 years olds. Seventy-five schools were selected. All schools containing grade 1, 2 and 3 that contained 40 or students were included in the sampling frame. Results : The results of this study were as follows ; 1. The proportion of smoking students in middle school was 6.4% and the rate of smoking in male students(7.4%) was higher than it of in female students(5.5%). 2. 26.5% of all respondent had a experience to try smoke and the results showed that the rate of trying smoking in male students was increased by grade more than female students. 3. According to test of significance in regression analysis, the independent variables such as sex, school grade, smoking parents, friends distinction, pocket money and others showed statistical significance. 4. There was a statistical significance between smokers and nonsmokers in proportion to the completing the preventive education for nonsmoking(p=0.0023) and the acquirement of knowledge on smoking(p<.0001). 5. Finally there was a statistical significance between the exposure to anti-smoking campaign(p=0.0053) and tobacco advertisement in the mass media and the smoking(p=0.0036). Conclusion : All things considered, the health education for tobacco control in school need to be developed from an elementary school. I suggest that prevent smoking program in school need to be revitalized and be made more accessible for everyone who wish to quit. And the government should develop the regulation on total banning promoting cigarette advertising and smoking scene in the movie for young people.

  • Objectives: While many studies have been conducted on whether smoking scenes in films actually affect audience members' smoking, a comprehensive conclusion has yet to be derived. This study systematically reviewed the effect of smoking scenes in films on audience members' attitudes, beliefs, and actions. Methods: We analyzed a total of 146 studies searched on PubMed and PsycINFO (41 qualitative studies, 72 cross-sectional studies, 20 longitudinal studies, and 13 experimental studies). Results: Whereas qualitative studies have only demonstrated that audience members tend to perceive smoking scenes in films not as negative information but as positive information, cross-sectional studies have reported a significant association between smoking scenes and smoking behavior notwithstanding the problems of classifying the groups studied and measuring the degree of exposure. Through follow-up observations, longitudinal studies have reported that such media exposure can serve as a predictor of future smoking. Finally, with exposure and confounding variables under control, experimental studies have confirmed that smoking scenes in films indeed affect audience members' attitudes, beliefs, and actions regarding smoking. Conclusions: Scenes of actors and actresses smoking can be imitated or learned through audience members' immersion and identification and reproduce positive images that may render smoking socially acceptable.
