  • The convergence of ICT and cloud computing is treated as a main issue all over the fields including education. This development leads to change from e-learning to u-learning and smart education. Therefore, we need to study in term of the systematic and a long-term viewpoint how smart education environment have an influence on the practical space. And we need a concrete study for smart education space based on property of space. Under these critical mind, this study understands the smart education space in terms of the convergence of computing space and physical space. As a Result, smart education space have major property such as flexibility, communication, polyvalence.

  • Smart education is defined as creating new values through connecting educational elements based on smart devices and infrastructure. In the study, we propose a theoretical and procedural framework for developing smart learning activities, which is considered characteristic of smart education, as well as environments in smart schools of Sejong Special Autonomous city. In addition, we discuss an instructional model developed from the framework. A smart learning activity as a basic unit in instruction is represented as a block when design and instruction focuses on smart learning activities. The block consists of components from learning activities, motivation, information activities, and tools when a teacher has smart learning ideas. Based on the theoretical and procedural framework, the thought-sharing model (i.e., that learners share ideas and opinions with classmates, review classmates' work, and enhance their own work) is an instructional model that leads to smart education. We discuss considerations for developing instructional models using the framework.

  • This research, with the recent change in the paradigm of education, has its purpose on suggesting the direction of Japanese education that best suits the environment in Korea, by analyzing the education and information policy in Korea and Japan. As it is shown in Mackey's model, policy in language and education cannot be separated, and the 'smart education' policy as well as 'Education and Information Vision' that is implemented in Korea and Japan is likely to be connected with policies in language in the near future. Both of these policies has its goals on the spreading of information in education, and is predicted to lead to development in contents in regard to education of foreign language. When looking at recently developed smart-learning programs, it can be found that the credibility and authenticity is weak because in most of those programs, there was no participation of experts in Japanese education. Thus there is a need for expertise in Japanese education for development of these contents and also many attempts with application of 'smart-learning' collaboration of technology and academic knowledge in humanities and education is needed. At the same time, various support from the government is essential so that these policies can simultaneously work together, along with the field of foreign language education.

  • Purpose: There is increasing attention to smart-learning as a new education paradigm. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of intention to use smart-based Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) and factors influencing intention to use smart-based CNE. Methods: Participants were 486 nurses from 14 organizations, including 12 hospitals, a nurses association, and an office of education. Data were collected from November 5 to 18, 2014 using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score for intention to use smart-based CNE was 6.34 out of 10. The factors influencing intention to use smart-based CNE were nursing informatics competency, current unit career, and smartphone addiction. These variables explained 10% of variance in intention to use smart-based CNE. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that efforts to enhance the nursing informatics competency of nurses could increase usage rate of smart-based CNE. The CNE policy makers will find this study very useful and the findings of this study will help to provide insight into the best way to develop smart-based CNE.

  • Smart learning is a new trend in education following E-learning, U-Learning, and M-Learning. In June 2011, the Korean government announced the education policy on promoting smart learning, and presented the vision and the direction for the smart learning. However, it seems that the current government-directed education policy on smart learning has promoted the unconditional implementation of the policy without taking into consideration of a variety of factors, such as the reality of the classroom, educational environment, educators' competencies to use smart learning, and so on. The aims of this study are to examine the reality of the classroom and the educational environments for smart learning, and to take a survey on the elementary teachers' use of the smart learning. In addition, the study attempted to investigate the teachers' understanding of the various factors regarding the use of smart learning. On the basis of the results of the survey, the problems of implementing smart learning in the classroom were analyzed, and then some suggestions were made to pave the way for the more improved and systematic smart learning.
