  • A robust positioning control system has been studied using a friction parameter observer and a recurrent fuzzy neural network based on the sliding model. To estimate a nonlinear friction parameters of the LuGre friction model, a dual friction model-based observer is introduced. In addition, an approximating method for a system uncertainty has been developed using a recurrent fuzzy neural network technique to improve positioning performance. Experimental results have been presented to validate the performance of a proposed intelligent compensation scheme.

  • This paper has investigated the speed sensorless indirect vectorcontrol of a two-phase induction motor to implement adjustable-speed drive for low-power applications. The sliding mode observer estimates rotor speed. The convergence of the nonlinear time-varying observer along with the asymptotic stability of the controller has been analyzed. To define the control action which maintains the motion on the sliding manifold, an "equivalent control" concept is used. It has been simulated and implemented on a sensorless indirect vector drive for 150W two-phase induction motor. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate effectiveness of the estimation method.

  • In this paper, an observer with novel sliding mode is proposed. The sliding mode is designed by defining a extended state whose dynamic is determined from the output error. It has the advantage of giving the desired dynamics for the error system. To get the exact system parameter for an observer, the RLS algorithm is used.

  • The variable structure controller has the characteristic that while in sliding mode, the system moves along the switching plane in the vicinity of the switching plane, so it is robust to the parameter fluctuations of the plant. However, a controller based on a variable structure may not meet the desired performance when it is commanded to track any input or exposed to disturbances. To solve this problem, a sliding mode controller based on the IVSC approach excluding an integrator is proposed in this study. The proposed sliding mode control was applied to the position control of a hydraulic cylinder piston. The sliding plane was determined by the pole placement and the control input was designed to ensure the existence of the sliding mode. The feasibility of the modeling and controller was reviewed by comparing it with a conventional proportional control through computer simulation using MATLAB software and experiment in the presence of significant plant parameter fluctuations and disturbances.

  • The Stewart platform manipulator is a closed-kinematis chain robot manipulator that is capable of providing high st겨ctural rigidity and positional accuracy. However, this is a complex structure, so controllability of the system is not so good. In this paper, it introduces a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a class of nonlinear systems in the presence of modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work introduces the development and design of robust observer for the slate and the perturbation w.hich is integrated into a variable structure controller(VSC) structure. The combination of controller/observer gives rise to the robust routine called sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer(SMCSPO). The optimal gains of SMCSPO are easily obtained by genetic algorithm. Simulation and experiment are presented in order to apply to the stewart platform manipulator. There results show highly' accuracy and performance.

  • Recently, in the industrial applications, the sensorless system is developed, but the sensorless system is required to have robustness for the measurement noise and disturbance. In this paper, for the sensorless system, the method of designing a robust sliding mode observer taking account of the ability of disturbance and noise attenuation is presented. Also, the strategy for the estimation of rotor flux using the sliding mode observer, which is robust to the measurement noise, is described. Robustness are achieved by assigning the pole of the the system during the sliding motion in such a way as to minimize the effects of the disturbances on the rotor flux estimation error. Finally, using worst case desist and LQC(least square error design), the sliding mode absolver is verified by computer simulations.

  • The variable structure controller is designed such that in sliding mode, the system moves along the switching plane in the vicinity of the switching plane, thus it is robust because it is not affected by the parameter fluctuations of the plant. However, a controller based on a variable structure may not meet the desired performance when it is commanded to track any input or is exposed to disturbances. This study proposes a sliding mode controller that follows the IVSC (Integral Variable Structure Control) approach with ELO (Extended Luenberger observer) to solve this problem. The proposed sliding mode control is applied to the velocity control of the hydraulic motor. The sliding plane was determined by the pole placement, and the control input was designed to ensure the existence of the sliding mode. The feasibility of modeling and controller are reviewed by comparing with conventional proportional-integral control through computer simulation using MATLAB software and experimenting on the cases of significant plant parameter fluctuations and disturbances.

  • This paper focuses on the power-level control of nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the presence of lumped disturbances. An adaptive second-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode control (ASONTSMC) scheme is proposed by resorting to the second-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode. The pre-existing mathematical model of the nuclear reactor system is firstly described based on point-reactor kinetics equations with six delayed neutron groups. Then, a second-order sliding mode control approach is proposed by integrating a proportional-derivative sliding mode (PDSM) manifold with a nonsingular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) manifold. An adaptive mechanism is designed to estimate the unknown upper bound of a lumped uncertain term that is composed of lumped disturbances and system states real-timely. The estimated values are then added to the controller, resulting in the control system capable of compensating the adverse effects of the lumped disturbances efficiently. Since the sign function is contained in the first time derivative of the real control law, the continuous input signal is obtained after integration so that the chattering effects of the conventional sliding mode control are suppressed. The robust stability of the overall control system is demonstrated through Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the proposed control scheme is validated through simulations and comparisons with a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller, a super twisting sliding mode controller (STSMC), and a disturbance observer-based adaptive sliding mode controller (DO-ASMC).

  • This paper describes the model identification and the discrete-time sliding mode control of electro-hydraulic servo systems which are composed of servo valves, double-rod cylinder and load mass. The controlled plant is identified as a 3th-order discrete-time ARMAX model obtained from the prediction error algorithm, where a nominal model and modeling errors are zuantitatively constructed. The discrete sliding mode controller for 3th-order ARMAX model is designed in discrete-time domain, where all states are observed from Kalman filter. The discrete sliding mode controller has better tracking performance than that obtained from continuous-time sliding mode controller, in experiment.

  • This paper investigates an improved stator flux linkage observer for sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives using a voltage-based flux linkage model and an adaptive sliding mode variable structure. We propose a new observer design that employs an improved sliding mode reaching law to achieve better estimation accuracy. The design includes two models and two adaptive estimating laws, and we illustrate that the design is stable using the Popov hyper-stability theory. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed estimator accurately calculates the speed, the stator flux linkage, and the resistance while overcoming the shortcomings of traditional estimators.
