  • Flywheel energy storage systems (FESS) have advantages over other types of energy storage methods due to their infinite charge/discharge cycles and environmental friendliness. The system has two radial bearings and one hybrid-thrust bearing. Thrust hybrid-type bearing use permanent magnet to relieve gravity load. The radial bearings were designed to provide sufficient force slew rate considering the unbalance disturbance at the operating speeds. In this paper, we will derive dynamic model of hybrid-type bearing using permanent magnet for thrust bearing and present simulation and stability of the model.

  • This paper represents a design and implementation of a digital controller for a multi-phase synchronous buck converter (SBC) using a digital signal processor (DSP). The multi-phase SBC has generally been used for a voltage regulation module (VRM) of a microprocessor because of its high current handling capability at a low output voltage. The VRM requires high control performance of tight output regulation, high slew rate, and load sharing capability of multiple converters. In order to achieve these requirements, the design and implementation of a digital control system for a multi-phase SBC are presented in this paper. The digital PWM generation, current sensing, and voltage and current controller using a DSP TMS320F2812 are considered. The experimental results are provided to show the validity of the implemented digital control system.

  • FLL 회로는 측정된 신호를 voltage to current converter를 거쳐 feedbak coil에 인가함으로써 외부 자장을 상쇄하여 SQUID의 동작점을 원점으로 회귀시켜 선형 구간을 유지하도록 하는 역할을 한다. FLL회로의 동자 범위와 특성을 분석하기 위해서는 일반적인 time-delayed feedback 회로와 사용된 OP amp의 slew rate, filter 의 amplitude 및 위상 특성, SQUID의 critical current, pickup coil 및 SQUID의 inductance 등 다양한 파라미터를 고려하여야 한다. 이러한 SQUID 회로의 복합적인 특성을 SQUID 에뮬레이터를 사용함으로써 FLL 회로를 손쉽게 설계할 수 있고, 또한 회로의 최적화도 쉽게 이를 수 있다. 또한 초전도에서 동작하는 SQUID 나 자기 차폐실이 없어도 FLL 회로 등을 개발할 수 있기 때문에 생체자기시스템의 개발 초기 단계에 널리 활용될 수 있다. 따라서 이 논문의 목적은 FLL을 포함한 SQUID 제어 회로를 SQUID 센서와 분리하기 위한 방법을 제안하는 것으로 자기적으로 coupling되어 있는 feedback 회로를 회로적으로 addition을 수행하게 함으로써 SQUID와 분리하여 회로의 동작 및 특성을 측정할 수 있다.

Integrated Rail-to-Rail Low-Voltage Low-Power Enhanced DC-Gain Fully Differential Operational Transconductance Amplifier

  • In this paper, we present an integrated rail-to-rail fully differential operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) working at low-supply voltages (1.5 V) with reduced power consumption and showing high DC gain. An embedded adaptive biasing circuit makes it possible to obtain low stand-by power dissipation (lower than 0.17 mW in the rail-to-rail version), while the high DC gain (over 78 dB) is ensured by positive feedback. The circuit, fabricated in a standard CMOS integrated technology (AMS 0.35 ${\mu}m$), presents a 37 V/${\mu}s$ slew-rate for a capacitive load of 15 pF. Experimental results and high values of two quality factors, or figures of merit, show the validity of the proposed OTA, when compared with other OTA configurations.

  • The effect of power supply voltage on the performance limits in a laboratory Magneto-rheological fluid based device was identified by experiments. It suggests that the frequency range of motion for control be limited by the voltage attenuation due to the coil inductance and the maximum power supply voltage set for practical use of MRF devices. In this work, the magnetic and electrical characteristics of MRF device are investigated and a design procedure is formulated to achieve the desired performance for a given power supply.

An efficient LIN MCU design for In-Vehicle Networks

  • This paper describes a design of LIN MCU using efficient memory accessing architecture which provides concurrent data and address fetch for faster communication. By using slew rate control it can reduce EMI emission while satisfying required communication specifications. To verify the efficiency of the LIN MCU, we developed a SoC and tested for several data packets. Measurements show that this LIN MCU improves network efficiency up to 17.19 % and response time up to 31.26 % for nominal cases. EMI radiation also can be reduced up to 10 dB.

  • This paper describes the development of SiC MOSFET model for high temperature applications. The temperature dependence of the threshold voltage and mobility of SiC MOSFET is quite different from that of silicon MOSFET. We developed the empirical temperature model of threshold voltage and mobility of SiC MOSFET and implemented into HSPICE. Using this model the MOSFET Id-Vds characteristics as a function of temperature are simillated. Also the SiC CMOS operational amplifieris designed using this model and the temperature dependence of the frequency response, transfer characteristics and slew rate as a function of temperature are analyzed.

  • We have constructed a multi-channel SQUID magnetometer system. The system is designed to operate normally with 10 high temperature direct coupled SQUIDs. The main features of the system include a remote control by serial communication, low noise with wide bandwidth and high slew rate by several MHz modulation, signal conditioning and calibration by digital signal processing.

  • Torsional oscillations of the drivetrain in electric vehicles are generated under rapid driving conditions. These lead to an uncomfortable jerking of the vehicle and an increased stress of the mechanical components. To suppress torsional oscillations, the low pass and notch filters between the torque command from the acceleration pedal and electric motor input torque are suggested. The filter parameters are optimized based on Taguchi method with $L_{18}(3^5)$ orthogonal array. The signal to noise (S/N) ratio mainly depends on slew rate of motor input torque, damping ratio and natural frequency of notch filter. With the proposed suppression control scheme, the S/N ratio is shown to be increased by 4.7dB and the torque overshoot of the drive shaft is reduced to 30%.

  • 하나 또는 다수개의 압전액츄에이터(piezoelectric actuator)로 구성된 시스템에서 구동 효율을 높이는데 직접적인 영향을 미치는 고정밀과 빠른 응답 특성을 구현(implementation)하기 위하여, 입력전압에 대하여 출력전압이 선형적으로 추종하고 주파수 가변(variable)이 독립적이며 순차적으로 제어가 가능한 위상가변(phase shifting)형 압전액츄에이터 구동장치의 설계가 필요하다. 구동신호론 증폭하고 가변하는 고전압 증폭 구동장치는 압전액츄에이터 구동에 직접 영향을 주게 되므로, 이의 특성인 고주파에서의 위상지연 보상, 높은 회전비(slew rate)로 고전압에서 정현파의 찌그럼짐을 방지, 전압이득의 가변 및 안정화, 입력 및 출력 임피던스의 개선과 주파스 대역폭(band width)의 확장 등은 매우 중요하다.(중략)
