Purpose: In Korea, the number of migrant workers is increasing. However, migrant workers have low job satisfaction due to poor working environment, and insufficient social support. This study aimed to investigate the role of social support for job satisfaction of migrant workers. Method: We have analyzed the survey data of 397 migrant workers collected from free clinic for migrant workers located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do. Result: When the migrant workers received monetary and emotional supports from supervisors and colleagues, their job satisfaction turned out to be significantly high. The factors that influence job satisfaction of migrant workers are as follows: involvement in manufacturing industry, over 9 hours of daily sleep, monetary and emotional support from supervisors. Their job satisfaction strongly influenced by these factors. Conclusion: Social support will increase job satisfaction of migrant workers and it will subsequently decrease job turnover rate and increase productivity as well as quality of life.

This study examines the wearing comfort of elderly women through a physiological analysis based on rectal temperature and biochemical analysis with salivary melatonin and cortisol. This study was conducted on 7 elderly women aged 65 or over. Two kinds of clothing ensemble (control and prototype) were used as experimental clothing. The control clothing was a general clothing ensemble and the prototype clothing lowered clothing pressure by adding an extra gap. The experimental schedule included daily living activities with randomly assigned experimental clothing. Rectal temperature was constantly measured every 5 minutes during the experiment and saliva samples for melatonin and cortisol were collected twice per day before and after sleep. The rectal temperature was lower for the prototype than the control throughout the experiment, and its circadian rhythm was prompt and clear in prototype. In addition, melatonin was secreted more but cortisol was secreted less when the subjects wore the prototype clothing. With these results, we assumed that regular circadian rhythm and low level of stress might be caused by wearing prototype clothing that lowered clothing pressure. The results demonstrate the necessity to develop clothing that considers body changes in elderly women.

Two new bitter-tasting cyclic peptides comprising six amino acids, namely gamakamide C and D, were isolated from cultured oysters Crassostrea gigas. Dimethylaminoazobenzene sulfonyl-amino acid analysis detected Val and Leu in gamakamide C and Ile and Leu in gamakamide D. The molecular formula of gamakamide C was determined as $C_{43}H_{60}N_{7}O_8S$ by high-resolution fast atom bombardment mass spectroscopy (HR FAB-MS) ($[M+H]^+m/z822.4200{\Delta}-2.4mmu$), and that of gamakamide D was determined as $C_{43}H_{62}N_7O_8S$ by HR FAB-MS ($[M+H]^+m/z836.4379{\Delta}-2.0mmu$). Comparison of amino acid analyses and fragment ions by MS/MS among gamakamide C, D, and E (known), the structures of gamakamide C and D were confirmed $as-{\small{L}}-Val-{\small{L}}-Met(SO)-{\small{L}}-NMe-Phe-{\small{L}}-Leu-{\small{D}}-Lys-{\small{L}}-Phe-$ and $-{\small{L}}-Ile-{\small{L}}-Met(SO)-{\small{L}}-NMe-Phe-{\small{L}}-Leu-{\small{D}}-Lys-{\small{L}}-Phe-$, respectively.

Trichloroethylene (TCE, $C_2HCl_3$), which was introduced as a gas for general anesthesia and analgesia in early 1900's has been widely used in industry as an organic solvent. Occupational exposure to TCE is an important medical problem. Manifestations of acute exposure to TCE include mucocutaneous irritation, hepatotoxicity, cognitive impairment, sleep, headache, respiratory insufficiency and death. We report a 38-year-old man who was admitted to a department of emergency medicine after occupational inhalation exposure to TCE. He rapidly developed semicoma and respiratory depression. After mechanical ventilation, hypercapnea and hypoxemia disappeared and his mental state again became alert. Careful evaluation and proper respiratory support are important for respiratory failure after occupational TCE inhalation.

Background: Mine workers in South Africa face challenges relating to poor health and safety, including fatigue risks, and poor socioeconomic and living conditions. Fatigue results in impaired mental and physical performance. The aim of this study was to assess contributors to fatigue of mine workers in South Africa. Methods: Data collection took place at four gold mines and one platinum mine in South Africa. A total of 21 focus groups were held with individuals in management, union representatives, and mine workers, and 564 questionnaires were completed by mine workers to gather information about fatigue and potential contributors to fatigue at these mines. Results: Qualitatively (through focus groups), fatigue was attributed to extended working hours, harsh working conditions, high workloads, production pressure, and resource constraints, along with aspects relating to demographic and socioeconomic factors, living conditions, lifestyle, health, and wellness. Greater fatigue was significantly associated with younger age, indebtedness, a lack of exercise, poor nutrition, less sleep, increased alcohol use, poor self-reported health, more sick leave, higher stress, and lower job satisfaction. Conclusion: The aim of the study was achieved; numerous work-, sociodemographic-, lifestyle-, and wellness-related factors were linked to fatigue in the participating mine workers. Contributors to fatigue should be addressed to improve health, safety, and sustainability in the industry.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of hand acupressure in relieving shoulder pain among male manufacturing workers. Methods: A nonequivalent control group was employed using a nonsynchronized design. Data were collected from two manufacturing plants located in metropolitan area U. The data were analyzed with a ${\chi}^2$-test and an independent t-test to perform a homogeneity test, and with repeated ANOVA measures to perform an hypothesis test using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Hypothesis 1 that "the experimental group provided with hand moxibustion would score lower for low shoulder pain than the control group" was supported (F=306.05, p<.001). Hypothesis 2, that "the experimental group provided with hand moxibustion would have a wider range of motion than the control group" was also supported with increased flexion(F=7.73, p<.001), extension(F=7.89, p=.001), abduction(F=21.23, p<.001), and horizontal abduction(F=20.89, p=.028). Hypothesis 3, that "the experimental group provided with hand moxibustion would score lower for quality of sleep than the control group" was not supported (F=56.10, p=.091). Conclusions: Hand moxibustion is effective in relieving shoulder pain for male manufacturing workers, in relieving low shoulder pain and increasing the range of motion.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the psychosocial working environment and mental health of financial workers, and analyze the impact of the former on the latter. Methods: Data of 257 financial clerks were extracted from the 2017 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey. Psychosocial working environment was divided into five fields: demands at work, work organizations, interpersonal relations, workplace violence, and working hour quality. Mental health included sleeping problems, psychological well-being, and job stress. Results: A total of 6.1% subjects reported sleep problems, 28.2% experienced poor psychological well-being, and 39.6% had job stress. More than half the subjects were exposed to tight deadlines, complex tasks, hiding feelings at work, fair treatment, fair distribution of work, colleagues' support, and managers' support. Tight deadlines, workplace violence, long working hours, hiding feelings at work, and managers' support had a significant impact on the mental health of financial clerks. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we propose that employers, workers, and health managers in the financial industry should work together to establish a respectful organizational culture, prevent long working hours through recruitment, and conduct programs to protect emotional health.

The thermal image device support image to detect infrared light from the object without light. It can use not only defence-related industry, but also civilian industry. This paper presents a new thermal image processing module using common image processor. The proposed module shows 10~20% performance improvement with normal mode and 50% performance improvement with sleep mode compared with the previously thermal image module based FPGA. and it guarantees high scalability according to modular system. In addition, the proposed module improves modulation and reuse, so it expect to have reduction of development period, low development cost. various application. In addition, it expect to have satisfaction of customer requirements, development design, development period, release date of product.

6th Industry reduced agricultural income and rural areas, the economic downturn is going to be activated is attracting attention as an alternative. 6th industry means that the integrated or linked, the manufacture and processing of secondary industry based on primary industry, the distribution and service of tertiary industry. In addition, to support the development of models and analysis of best practices, including sleep studies are in progress.
