Automatic wall slant angle map generation using 3D point clouds

  • Recently, quantitative and repetitive inspections of the old urban area were conducted because many structures exceed their designed lifetime. The health of a building can be validated from the condition of the outer wall, while the slant angle of the wall widely serves as an indicator of urban regeneration projects. Mostly, the inspector directly measures the inclination of the wall or partially uses 3D point measurements using a static light detection and ranging (LiDAR). These approaches are costly, time-consuming, and only limited space can be measured. Therefore, we propose a mobile mapping system and automatic slant map generation algorithm, configured to capture urban environments online. Additionally, we use the LiDAR-inertial mapping algorithm to construct raw point clouds with gravity information. The proposed method extracts walls from raw point clouds and measures the slant angle of walls accurately. The generated slant angle map is evaluated in indoor and outdoor environments, and the accuracy is compared with real tiltmeter measurements.

  • In this paper, we define timelike curves in R42 and characterize such curves in terms of Frenet frame. Also, we examine the timelike helices of R42, taking into account their curvatures. In addition, we study timelike slant helices, timelike B1-slant helices, timelike B2-slant helices in four dimensional semi-Euclidean space, R42. And then we obtain an approximate solution for the timelike B1 slant helix with Taylor matrix collocation method.

  • In the present article, we introduce pointwise slant Riemannian submersion from nearly Kähler manifold to Riemannian manifold. We established the conditions for fibers to be totally geodesic. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for pointwise slant submersion 𝜑 to be a harmonic and totally geodesic. Further, we study clairaut pointwise slant Riemannian submersion from nearly Kähler manifold to Riemannian manifold. We derive the clairaut conditions for 𝜑 such that 𝜑 is a clairaut map. Finally, one example is constructed which demonstrates existence of clairaut pointwise slant submersion from nearly Kähler manifold to Riemannian manifold.

  • The main purpose of the present paper is to introduce a brief analysis on some properties of quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds. After discussing the introduction and some preliminaries about the Kenmotsu manifold, we worked out some important results in the direction of integrability of the distributions of quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds. Afterward, we investigate the conditions for quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of a Kenmotsu manifold to be totally geodesic and later we provide some non-trivial examples to validate the existence of such submanifolds.

Measurement of the Modulation Transfer Function of Infrared Imaging System by Modified Slant Edge Method

  • The performance of a staring infrared imaging system can be characterized based on estimating the modulation transfer function (MTF). The slant edge method is a widely used MTF estimation method, which can effectively solve the aliasing problem caused by the discrete undersampling of the infrared focal plane array. However, the traditional slant edge method has some limitations such as the low precision of the edge angle extraction and using the approximate function to fit the edge spread function (ESF), which affects the accuracy of the MTF estimation. In this paper, we propose a modified slant edge method, including an edge angle extraction method that can improve the precision of the edge angle extraction and an ESF fitting algorithm which is based on the transfer function model of the imaging system, to enhance the accuracy of the MTF estimation. This modified slant edge method presents higher estimation accuracy and better immunity to noise and edge angle than other traditional methods, which is demonstrated by the simulation and application experiments operated in our study.

  • Soil particles from rainfall flow into reservoir and give lots of influence in water quality because the geological conditions and landcover characteristics of Imdong watershed have a weakness against soil loss. Especially, reservoir slant is indicated by the main source area of soil loss. This study selected RUSLE model that could apply GIS and satellite image to evaluate the contribution rate of soil loss in reservoir slant. And we carried out an on-the-spot survey for the range, width and condition of reservoir slant that give much influences to the accuracy of soil loss. As the result of evaluation to the influence of soil loss in reservoir slant, it showed 2.64% in comparison with Imdong watershed. In view of these results, the influence of soil loss in reservoir slant was evaluated in low comparing with Imdong watershed relatively.

  • It is well known that the warped product $L\;{\times}\;{_f}\;F$ of a line L and a Kaehler manifold F is an almost contact Riemannian manifold which is characterized by some tensor equations appeared in (1.7) and (1.8). In this paper we determine contact slant submanifolds tangent to the structure vector field of $L\;{\times}\;{_f}\;F$.

  • The radiation characteristics of a phased array antenna consisted of rectangular waveguides with a slant grid are investigated here. In particular, the effects of the slant angle on the radiation patterns are calculated by solving numerically the integral equation to the electric field over the waveguide aperture in view of the modal analysis. And it is found that the blindness on the radiation pattern can be moved by inserting a dielectric plug or sheath properly.

  • Relationships between the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature and between the shape operator associated with the mean curvature vector and the sectional curvature function for slant submanifolds of an S-space-form are proved, particularizing them to invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds tangent to the structure vector fields.
