An in Depth Study of Crystallinity, Crystallite Size and Orientation Measurements of a Selection of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) Fibers

  • A selection of commercially available poly(ethy1ene terephtha1ate) fibers with different degrees of molecular alignment and crystallinity have been investigated utilizing a wide range of techniques including optical microscopy, infrared spectroscopy together with thermal and wide-angle X-ray diffraction techniques. Annealing experiments showed increased molecular alignment and crystallinity as shown by the increased values of birefringence and melting enthalpies. Crystallinity values determined from thermal analysis, density, unpolarized infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction are compared and discussed in terms of the inherent capabilities and limitations of each measurement technique. The birefringence and refractive index values obtained from optical microscopy are found to decrease with increasing wavelength of light used in the experiments. The wide-angle X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the samples with relatively low orientation possess oriented non-crystalline array of chains whereas those with high molecular orientation possess well defined and oriented crystalline array of chains along the fiber axis direction. X-ray analysis showed increasing crystallite size trend with increasing molecular orientation. SEM images showed micro-cracks on low oriented fiber surfaces becoming smooth on highly oriented fiber surfaces. Excellent bending characteristics were observed with knotted fibers implying relatively easy fabric formation.

  • Co-branding of food courts is turning into a trend with the activation of recent entrance of famous restaurants into shopping departments and other large-size buildings. This research analyzes the effects of co-brand food courts on the choices of dining enterprises by dealing with the customers of these newly activated food courts in shopping malls and large-size buildings. By analyzing the effects of the present status of customers' using food courts according to the characteristics of their choices of dining enterprises, food and brand elements were found to have an effect on the restaurant brand recognition of food courts, and price factor was found to have an effect on an visitors' recommendation intension. Therefore, customers who set importance on food and brand elements tend to take the brand of food courts into consideration as well; therefore, the maintenance of food quality and strengthening of brand image are mandatory in case of food court operation.

  • Micronization of sensor is a trend of the silicon sensor development with regard to a piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor, the size of the pressure sensor diaphragm have become smaller year by year, and a microaccelerometer with a size less than 200~300${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ has been realized. Over the past four or five years, numerical modeling of microsensors and microstructures has gradually been developed as a field of microelectromechanical system(MEMS) design process. In this paper, we study some of the micromachining processes of single crystal silicon(SCS) for the microaccelerometer, and their subsequent processes which might affect thermal and mechanical loads. The finite element method(FEM) has been a standard numerical modeling technique extensively utilized in structural engineering discipline for component design of microaccelerometer. Temperature rise sufficiently low at the suspended beams. Instead, larger temperature gradient can be seen at the bottom of paddle part. The center of paddle part becomes about 5~2$0^{\circ}C$ higher than the corner of paddle and suspended beam edges.

  • This study is to find countermeasures of facility space according to the development of new educational program and the opening of education market from the renewal of existing facilities. The renewal is consider as the worldwide trend for enhancing added value of the facilities in economic side of educational facilities as well as educational contents. This study selects six from 94 elementary schools in Kwangju-city to examine our educational conditions, understand using conditions and recognition of existing space and possibility of the recycle. The hypothesis that recognition of existing facility space in school may be varied according to physical conditions of children is made in four sides, six elements and two trends are extracted and then life pattern, size, sense of materials and cognition of three types of passage space are analyzed. Accordingly, this study obtains such results that passage space is life space having strong place concept and there is the possibility of renewal of existing school building facilities corresponding to multipurpose of school facilities.

여고생 바지 교복의 사이즈 체계 및 착용 실태에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sizing System and Wearing Conditions with School Uniform Pants for Highschool Girls)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to provide basic information on developing highschool-uniform pants with more suitable fit. To carry out this study, questionnaires were administered to 187 students in high schools in Gwangju. The collected data were analyzed with frequencies statistics, t-test, ANOVA using the SPSS WIN 18.0. The results are as follows; As results of research on highschool-uniform regulation, 88% of the highschool in Gwangju allowed their students to wear school uniform pants. As results of investigation on the school-uniform pants sizing system of manufacturing firm, it was found that there's a trend towards increasing a large size with the change body type. The size labelling for school uniform pants was waist circumference-stature. There were differences in pants sizes according to the manufacturing firm and body measurements such as hip circumference, in seam length, pants length. As results of survey on wearing conditions, the selection of school uniform pants has increased in winter season. The most important body measurement in the choice of purchase was thigh circumference. In fit of uniform pants, respondents answered that waist circumference and hip circumference became smaller according to the physical growth.

  • 최근 재난양상의 다양화, 규모의 대형화 추세에 따라 신속하고 효율적인 재난예방과 대응을 위해 소방산업 첨단기기와 신기술의 중요성 및 역할이 날로 증대하고 있고, 소방산업 시장규모 역시 11조원, 종사자수도 10만 명을 상회하는 국가중요산업이지만 대부분 중소기업으로 타 산업에 비해 낙후성을 면치 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리나라 소방산업의 특성을 면밀히 분석, 소방산업의 특성을 고려한 금융공제시스템의 연구모형을 이론적으로 체계화하고 그 육성방안을 마련하여 소방산업 금융공제시스템을 이용하는 소방사업자들에게 자주적인 경제활동과 소방산업 발전에 기여하고자 한다.

  • Nowadays, research and development on quantum dot have been intensively and comprehensively pursued worldwide in proportion to concurrent breakthrough in the field of nanotechnology. At present, quantum dot technology forms the main interdisciplinary basis of energy, biological and photoelectric devices. More specifically, quantum dot semiconductor is quite noteworthy for its sub-micro size and possibility of photonic frequency modulation capability by controlling its size, which has not been possible with conventionally fabricated bulk or thin film devices. This could lead to realization of novel high performance devices. To further understand related background knowledge of semiconductor quantum dot at somewhat extensive level, a review paper is presently drafted to introduce basics of (semiconductor) quantum dot, its properties, applications, and present and future market trend and prospect.

일본 도시형 컴팩트 아파트의 상품기획 및 계획상 특정에 관한 연구 - 도쿄도내 분양실례의 분석을 중심으로 - (A Study on The Characteristics of Goods Planning and Architectural Planning of Urban Style Compact Apartment in Japan - Focus on Analysis of Apartments Sold in Tokyo City -)

  • The urban style compact apartment which appeared at the end of 1990's was developed by the decrement of household members and in compliance with a new life style. Now it has its own market as a new trend. The purpose of this study is to better understand the characteristics of urban style compact apartments based on an analysis of apartments actually sold on 2008, in order to reflect on the future directions and developments. To support a comprehensive analysis, this study considered three types of compact apartments developed by : a. major developers which own multiple well-recognized brand names, b. mid-size developers under general brand names, c. new or small-size developers specializing in compact apartments. The results from 21 urban style compact apartments could be summarized as follow; 1. Most buyers are Singles or DINKs. The single women occupy a large percentage. 2. Condition of good location is under 5 minutes walk to station and accessibility to 2 and more station. 3. Exterior of building should be harmonious to surrounding and simple, the atmosphere of entrance hall should be warm and relaxed. 4. The spatial character of unit plans are developed by the ways of connecting spaces; 1) Connecting spaces by mobile partition: flexible spaces with expansion 2) Connecting spaces by hall: well arranged spaces with excursion and extends 5. The equipments of kitchen and security are fully carefully planned.

독도 주변 해역에 서식하는 중형저서생물 (Marine Meiobenthic Faunal Communities of the Sediments near Dokdo in the East Sen, Korea)

  • Meiobenthic community structure near Dokdo was investigated during two survey periods of June, 1999 and October 2000. Meiobenthos were separated from the sediment core samples collected from eight stations. A total of 19 meiobenthic animal groups were identified from those core samples. The most abundant meiobenthic animals belonged to Phylum Nematoda in both seasons and all stations. Sarcomastigophorans, nauplius of crustaceans, and benthic harpactiocoids were the next abundant meiobenthos. Vertical distribution of meiobenthic animals showed the highest individual numbers in the surface sediment layers of 0-1cm depth with a steep decreasing trend with depth for the three sampling stations (A0, A9', A19) located in the continental slope. Horizontal distribution of meiobenthic animals for the study area near Dokdo showed lower density at the sampling stations near Dokdo and the lowest density of meiobenthos in A19 (depth-2261 m). For size distribution, analysis showed that animals which fit onto the mesh size of 0.125mm were abundant. This study suggested that the continental shelf near Dokdo have a more unstable environment fo meiobenthos than the continental slope.

X-정자와 Y-정자의 분이에 관한 연구 III. Sephadex Gel 여과에 의한 우정자의 분이 (Separation of X- and Y-Bearing Spermatozoa III. Separation of bull spermtozoa by Sephadex Gel Filtration)

  • These experiments were carried out to develop new techniques for In Vitro separatin of X-and Y-bearing spermatozoa. The bull semen was applied to the various Gel-Columns filled with swellen Sephadex G-50 Fine and then elutriated wtih Locke solution (elutriation rate; 1ml/3-4min., 1ml/1-2min.). Elutriated solution was fractionated into 1ml by automatic Fraction Collector and spermatozoa included in each fraction were subjected to the estimation of viability and recovery rate, and to B-body test. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows: 1. When the column size and the elutriation rate were adjusted to 15$\times$1.6cm and 1ml/3-4min., respectively, the highest sperm concentration was obtained from the 8th to the 12th fraction. 2. As a trend, the viability of spermatozoa was improved by chromatography, and the degree of improvement ranged 5 to 10 percentage. 3. The average recovery rate of spermatozoa applied to column was 73.2 percentage and ranged 52.6 to 81.3 percentage. 4. The lowest rate of B-body bearing spermatozoa following chromatography was obtained when the column size and the elutriation rate were adjusted to 15$\times$0.8cm and 1ml/1-2min., respectively.
