진동이 상아질 결합력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF ADDITIONAL VIBRATION EFFECT ON DENTIN BOND STRENGTH)

  • 초음파 진동을 치의학에 처음 이용한 것은 치석 제거기였으나, 최근에는 주조금속과 레진 인레이를 접착할 때, 인산아연시멘트나 레진시멘트의 점도를 낮추는데 이용되고 있다. 이러한 초음파 진동은 재료의 흐름성을 증가시킴으로써 피막도를 낮추고, 따라서 수복물 주위의 미제누출을 감소시킬 수 있는 장점이 있다. 그러나, 복합레진의 수복에 있어서 이러한 초음파 진동의 임상적 효과에 관한 연구가 아직까지 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 저자는 초음파 진동을 상아질 결합제에 적용하여 점도를 감소시킴으로써 상아세관으로의 레진 침투 정도의 변화와 결합력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 발거 후 실온의 0.1% thymol 용액에 보관된 88개의 건전한 사람의 대구치를 치관부 법랑질을 제거하고 아크릴 레진을 이용하여 직경 1-inch의 PVC 관에 매몰하였다. 각 시편의 교합면이 아크릴봉과 동일한 높이가 되도록 220-, 500-grit의 연마지로 순차적으로 연마하였고, 무작위로 추출하여 각 군당 22개씩 네 군으로 분류하였다. 1군과 2군은 Single Bond(3M-ESPE, St. Paul, USA)를 3군과 4군은 One-Step(Bisco Inc., Schaumburg, USA)을 제조사의 지시에 따라 치면을 산부식, 수세, 건조한 후 연속하여 2번을 도포하였다. 2군과 4군은 초음파 치석제거기를 이용하여 치면에 대고 10 초간 진동을 가한 후 광중합하였다. 이후 직경 2.3mm, 높이 3.5mm의 Teflon mold(Ultradent Products Inc., South Jordan, USA)를 이용하여 복합레진을 충전한 후 40초씩 두 번에 나누어 광중합하였다. 모든 시편은 24시간 동안 실온의 수도물에 보관한 후 열순환을 시행하고, 만능측정기(Instron 4465, Canton, USA)로 전단결합강도를 측정하였으며 resin tag의 양상을 비교하기 위해 각 군의 시편의 치질을 탈회시킨 후에 표면을 주사전자 현미경으로 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 초음파 진동을 가하지 않은 1군, 3군에 비해 초음파 진동을 가한 2군과 4군에서 전단결합강도가 유의하게 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 2. Single Bond와 One-Step의 전단결합강도는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>0.05). 3. 전자현미경 관찰에서 초음파 진동을 가한 군에서 resin tag의 길이가 길었고, lateral branch의 수도 많이 관찰되었다.

  • 와동 형성시 박테리아에 감염된 상아질이나 법랑질을 완전히 제거하지 않는 것은 수복학적 측면에서 볼 때 잠재적 문제점이 된다. 수복물 하방에서의 박테리아의 활동에 의해 술후 과민반응, 치수의 염증. 이차 우식 등이 진행될 수 있다. 와동세척제는 와동 형성 후 잔존 박테리아의 제거를 위해 효과적으로 사용될 수 있지만 상아세관에 잔유물을 남겨 상아질 결합제와 치질간의 긴밀한 결합을 방해하여 미세누출을 증가시키고 결합강도를 약화시킬 가능성이 있다. 본 연구는 2% 클로르헥시딘을 함유하는 와동 세척제인 $Consepsis^{(R)}$(Ultradent, USA)가 $Adper^{TM}$ $Scotchbond^{TM}$ Multi-Purpose(3M ESPE, USA), $Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond(3M ESPE, USA), $Adper^{TM}$ $Prompt^{TM}$ $L-Pop^{TM}$(3M ESPE, USA)의 결합에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 발거된 제 3대구치 120개를 이용하여 $Consepsis^{(R)}$ 와동 세척제를 사용한 군과 사용하지 않은 군으로 나누어 전단결합강토 측정과 수복물 변연에 나타나는 미세누출 정도를 색소 침투 평가 방법으로 분석함으로써 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. $Consepsis^{(R)}$ 와동 세척제의 사용 유무는 $Adper^{TM}$ $Scotchbond^{TM}$ Multi-Purpose, $Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond, $Adper^{TM}$ $Prompt^{TM}$ L-Pop의 전단결합강토에 있어 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>0.05). 2. $Consepsis^{(R)}$와동 세척제의 사용 유무는 $Adper^{TM}$ $Scotchbond^{TM}$ Multi-Purpose, $Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond, $Adper^{TM}$ $L-Pop^{TM}$ $L-Pop^{TM}$의 미세누출 양상에 있어 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>0.05).

도재의 표면처리가 인장접착강도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Surface Treatment of Porcelain on Tensile Bond Strength)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 도재의 표면처리가 인장접착강도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는 것이었다. 120개의 도재시편을 각 군당 10개씩 12군으로 나눈 후, 1군은 표면처리를 하지않았고, 2군에서 5군까지는 단독 표면처리를 6군에서 12군까지는 복합으로 표면처리를 시행하였으며 그후 교정용 레진으로 통상적인 방법에 따라 브라켓을 접착하고나서 각 군의 인장접착강도를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 모든 단독표면처리군(G2,G3,G4,G5)은 표면처리를 하지않은 군(G1)보다 인장접착강도가 통계적으로 유의성 있는 증가(P<0.05)를 나타내었으며, 단독표면처리군 중 샌드블라스팅군(G5)의 인장접착강도가 $10.34{\pm}2.50MPa$로 가장 높았다. 2. 복합표면처리군(G6,G7,G8,G9,G10,G11,G12)에서는 9-11.5MPa의 인장접착강도를 나타내었고 이들 상호간에는 통계적으로 유의차가 없었다. 3. 단독표면처리군 중 샌드볼라스팅군(G5)은 복합표면처리군(G6-G12)과 통계적으로 유의차가 없었다.

IRM 임시수복이 상아질 접착제의 변연 미세누출에 미치는 영향 (THE INFLUENCE OF IRM TEMPORARY RESTORATIONS ON MARGINAL MICROLEAKAGE OF DENTIN ADHESIVES)

  • This study investigated the influence of IRM on marginal microleakage of 5th generation adhesives. Class V cavities with gingival margins in dentin were prepared on both buccal and lingual surfaces of 60 extract-ed human molar teeth. Prepared teeth were randomly divided into six groups. Group 1 and 4 received no temporary restoration with IRM. Group 2 and 5 were covered with IRM mixed at P/L ratio(10g/1g). Group 3 and 6 were covered with IRM mixed at P/L ratio(10g/2g). The temporary restorations were removed mechanically with an ultrasonic scaler after one-week storage in distilled water. The cavities were restored using one of two adhesives and composites ; Single Bond/Filtek Z 250(Croup 1, 2 and 3), UniFil Bond/UniFil F(Group 4, 5 and 6). Following one day storage in distilled water, the restored teeth were thermocycled for 500 cycles(between $5^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}55^{\circ}C$) and immersed in 2 % methylene blue for dye penetration testing. The results were analysed using Kruskal-Wallis Test, Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon signed ranked test at a significance level of 0.05. The results of this study were as follows 1. Ranking of mean microleakage scores at the enamel margins was Group 10.05) 4. At the dentin margins, the microleakage of the group not pretreated with IRM was lower than that of the group pretreated with IRM. And the microleakage of UniFil Bond was lower than that of Single Bond. 5. Compared with microleakages between the enamel and dentin margins of each groups, Group 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 at dentin margin were higher microleakage than those at enamel margin. There were significant difference between enamel and dentin microleakage of Group 2 and 3(p<0.05).

상아질에 대한 단일 단계 접착제의 미세인장 결합강도 (MICROTENSILE BOND STRENGTH OF SINGLE STEP ADHESIVES TO DENTIN)

  • 본 연구는 상아질에 대한 3종의 단일 단계 접착제의 미세인장 결합강도를 상호 비교하였다 15개의 발거된 상$\cdot$하악 대구치의 교합면측에 있는 표층 상아질을 노출시킨 후, 사용된 접착제에 따라 3개의 군 (Xeno군-Xeno III, Prompt군-Adper Prompt L-Pop, AQ군-AQ Bond)으로 분류하여 복합레진을 축조하였다. 각 시편을 막대모양으로 제작하였고, 각 군 당 20개의 시편을 이용하여 미세인장 결합강도를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1 상아질에 대한 각 군의 미세인장 결합강도는 Xeno군에서 $48.78\pm 9.83MPa$, Prompt군에서 $30.22\pm4.52MPa$, AQ군에서 $26.31\pm7.07MPa$로 나타났다. 2.Xeno 군은 Prompt 군과 AQ 군보다 통계학적으로 높은 미세인장 결합강도를 나타냈다 (p<0.05). 3. Prompt 군과 AQ 군의 미세인장 결합강도 간에는 통계학적으로 유의차가 없었다 (p>0.05).

COMPARISON OF RETENTIVE FORCES OF TEMPORARY CEMENTS AND ABUTMENT HEIGHT USED WITH IMPLANT-SUPPORTED PROSTHESES

  • STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Recent data regarding the effects the cement type and abutment heights on the retentive force of a prosthetic crown are inconsistent and unable to suggest clinical guidelines. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: This study evaluated the effects of different types of temporary cements and abutment heights on the retentive strength of cement-retained implant-supported prostheses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Prefabricated implant abutments, 4 mm in diameter, $8^{\circ}$taper per side, and light chamfer margins, were used. The abutment heights of the implants were 4 mm, 5.5 mm and 7 mm. Seven specimens of a single crown similar to a first premolar were fabricated. Six commercially available temporary cements, TempBond, TempBond NE, Cavitec, Procem, Dycal, and IRM, were used in this study. Twenty-four hours after cementation, the retentive strengths were measured using a universal testing machine with a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The cementation procedures were repeated 3 times. The data was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and a Tukey test (${\alpha}$=0.05). RESULTS: The tensile bond strength ranged from 1.76 kg to 19.98 kg. The lowest tensile strengths were similar in the TempBond and Cavitec agents. Dycal showed the highest tensile bond strength (P<0.01). More force was required to remove the crowns cemented to the long abutments (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: TempBond and Cavitec agents showed the lowest mean tensile bond strength. The Dycal agent showed more than double the tensile bond strength of the TempBond agent.

Bonding of the silane containing multi-mode universal adhesive for lithium disilicate ceramics

  • Objectives: This study evaluated the influence of a multi-mode universal adhesive (MUA) containing silane (Single Bond Universal, 3M EPSE) on the bonding of resin cement to lithium disilicate. Materials and Methods: Thirty IPS e.max CAD specimens (Ivoclar Vivadent) were fabricated. The surfaces were treated as follows: Group A, adhesive that did not contain silane (ANS, Porcelain Bonding Resin, Bisco); Group B, silane (S) and ANS; Group C, hydrofluoric acid (HF), S, and ANS; Group D, MUA; Group E, HF and MUA. Dual-cure resin cement (NX3, Kerr) was applied and composite resin cylinders of 0.8 mm in diameter were placed on it before light polymerization. Bonded specimens were stored in water for 24 hours or underwent a 10,000 thermocycling process prior to microshear bond strength testing. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (p < 0.05). Results: Bond strength varied significantly among the groups (p < 0.05), except for Groups A and D. Group C showed the highest initial bond strength ($27.1{\pm}6.9MPa$), followed by Group E, Group B, Group D, and Group A. Thermocycling significantly reduced bond strength in Groups B, C, and E (p < 0.05). Bond strength in Group C was the highest regardless of the storage conditions (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Surface treatment of lithium disilicate using HF and silane increased the bond strength of resin cement. However, after thermocycling, the silane in MUA did not help achieve durable bond strength between lithium disilicate and resin cement, even when HF was applied.

  • We have observed the temperature dependences of Bi $L_{III}$ edge spectra by extended X-ray absorption spectroscopy for a high quality single crystal and a powder of the $Ba_{0.6}K_{0.4}BiO_3$ superconductor. $Ba_{0.6}K_{0.4}BiO_3$ has the cubic structure and metallic states. The deformation of the $BiO_{6}$ octahedra, which is due to the anomalies of the Bi-O and Bi-Ba bond length, was showed by the double-shell fit. It was clearly found that these anomalies are owing to the difference in the strength of Bi-O bonds. The temperature dependences of both bond lengths and the Debye-Walter factor ${\sigma}^2$ of the Bi-O and Bi-(Ba,K) bond are discussed to illustrate local structural features of the $Ba_{0.6}K_{0.4}BiO_3$

Manual Application of Adhesives

  • International standards claim the best possible reliability in industrial manufacturing processes. This is also essential for the application with manual applicators. The application of adhesives with manual applicators is one of the most frequently used application techniques. The range of application reaches from the building of prototypes in the automobile industry over the use in single or small-batch manufacturing up to applications in crafts enterprises. Conventional manual applicators for adhesives and sealants don't fulfill the demands in international standards for the best possible reliability. Only the worker is able to control the quality and the quantity of the bond. A velocity-controlled manual applicator solves these restrictions. Special sensors and micro controllers calculate the flow-rate, the velocity and the location of the manual applicator. This leads to stable and repeatable application processes which are claimed in international standards. The location of the bond can be compared with the nominal value, so that it is possible to check the quality of the bond during application. Furthermore there is the potential to document the data of the manufacturing process.

Mechanical properties and deformation behavior of carbon nanotubes calculated by a molecular mechanics approach

  • Carbon nanotubes are due to their outstanding mechanical properties destined for a wide range of possible applications. Since the knowledge of the material behavior is vital regarding the possible applications, experimental and theoretical studies have been conducted to investigate the properties of this promising material. The aim of the present research is the calculation of mechanical properties and of the mechanical behavior of single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). The numerical simulation was performed on basis of a molecular mechanics approach. Within this approach two different issues were taken into account: (i) the nanotube geometry and (ii) the modeling of the covalent bond. The nanotube geometry is captured by two different approaches, the roll-up and the exact polyhedral model. The covalent bond is modeled by a structural molecular mechanics approach according to Li and Chou. After a short introduction in the applied modeling techniques, the results for the Young's modulus for several SWCNTs are presented and are discussed extensively. The obtained numerical results are compared to results available in literature and show an excellent agreement. Furthermore, deviations in the geometry stemming from the different models are given and the resulting differences in the numerical findings are shown. Within the investigation of the deformation mechanisms occurring in SWCNTs, the basic contributions of each individual covalent bond are considered. The presented results of this decomposition provide a deeper understanding of the governing deformation mechanisms in SWCNTs.
