The effect of anode gas channel height on gas diffusion and cell performance in a 100 $cm^2$ class molten carbonate single cell is investigated. Single cell separators with three different channel height are used. The effect of the gas channel height on the distribution of the reactive gas concentration is evaluated by the two-dimensional concentration diffusion equation. The overpotential caused by concentration drop with different channel height is estimated by the voltage decay related to diffusion of reactants, well known as concentration polarization, using limiting current density. The estimation could have the possibility to identify the reactant mass transfer polarization in the complicate factors of the overall electrodes.
Generally, multi-path is viewed as an undesirable feature of wireless communications. Therefore, diversity reception and adaptive array schemes are proposed to mitigate its effects. Recently, to increase the spectrum efficiency and the link reliability, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme is devised to exploit multi-path in a scattering wireless channel. In this paper, we have evaluated the channel capacity of MIMO Multi-Carrier CDMA system in path correlation fading channel. And, the channel capacity of MIMO system is compared with single-input single-output (SISO) system. From the results, the MIMO multi-carrier CDMA system with path correlation yields better performance with respect to channel capacity than a SISO system.

Temperature of the Earth's surface is a crucial physical variable in understanding weather and atmospheric dynamics and in coping with extreme heat events that have a great impact on living organismsincluding humans. Thermalsensors on satellites have been a useful meansfor acquiring surface temperature information for wide areas on the globe, and thus characterization of its estimation uncertainty is of central importance for the utilization of the data. Among various factors that affect the estimation, the uncertainty caused by the algorithm itself has not been tested for the atmospheric environment of Korean vicinity. Thisstudy derivesthe uncertainty of the single-channel algorithm under the local atmospheric and oceanic conditions by using reanalysis data and buoy temperature data collected around Korea. Atmospheric profiles were retrieved from two types of reanalysis data, the fifth generation of European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis of the global climate and weather (ERA5) and Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications-2 (MERRA-2) to investigate the effect of reanalysis data. MODerate resolution atmospheric TRANsmission (MODTRAN) was used as a radiative transfer code for simulating top of atmosphere radiance and the atmospheric correction for the temperature estimation. Water temperatures used for MODTRAN simulations and uncertainty estimation for the single-channel algorithm were obtained from marine weather buoyslocated in seas around the Korean Peninsula. Experiment results showed that the uncertainty of the algorithm varies by the water vapor contents in the atmosphere and is around 0.35K in the driest atmosphere and 0.46K in overall, regardless of the reanalysis data type. The uncertainty increased roughly in a linear manner as total precipitable water increased.
Single-channel seismic exploration has proven effective in delineating subsurface geological structures using small-scale survey systems. The seismic data acquired through zero- or near-offset methods directly capture subsurface features along the vertical axis, facilitating the construction of corresponding seismic sections. However, substantial noise in single-channel seismic data hampers precise interpretation because of the low signal-to-noise ratio. This study introduces a novel approach that integrate noise reduction and signal enhancement via matrix rank optimization to address this issue. Unlike conventional rank-reduction methods, which retain selected singular values to mitigate random noise, our method optimizes the entire singular value spectrum, thus effectively tackling both random and erratic noises commonly found in environments with low signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, to enhance the horizontal continuity of seismic events and mitigate signal loss during noise reduction, we introduced an adaptive weighting factor computed from the eigenimage of the seismic section. To access the robustness of the proposed method, we conducted numerical experiments using single-channel Sparker seismic data from the Chukchi Plateau in the Arctic Ocean. The results demonstrated that the seismic sections had significantly improved signal-to-noise ratios and minimal signal loss. These advancements hold promise for enhancing single-channel and high-resolution seismic surveys and aiding in the identification of marine development and submarine geological hazards in domestic coastal areas.

In this paper, a Symmetric Dual-gate Single-Si TFT, which includes three split floating n+ zones, is simulated. This structure drastically reduces the kink-effect and improves the on-current. This is due to the separated floating n+ zones, the transistor channel region is split into four zones with different lengths defined by a floating n+ region. This structure allows effective reduction in the kink-effect, depending on thy length of the two sub-channels. The on-current of the proposed dual-gate structure is 0.9 mA, while that of the conventional dual-gate structure is 0.5 mA, at both 12 V drain and 7 V gate voltages. This result shows an 80% enhancement in on-current. In addition, the reduction of electric field in the channel region compared to a conventional single-gate TFT and the reduction of the output conductance in the saturation region, is observed. In addition, the reduction in hole concentration, in the channel region, in order for effectively reducing the kink-effect, is also confirmed.

Recent studies have documented that testosterone relaxes several smooth muscles by modulating $K^+$ channel activities. Smooth muscles of seminal vesicles playa fundamental role in ejaculation, which might involve testosterone. This study was aimed to assess the role of testosterone in seminal vesicular motility by studying its effects on contractile agents and on the ion channels of single vesicular myocytes in a rabbit model. The contractile responses of circular smooth muscle strips of rabbit seminal vesicles to norepinephrine ($10{\mu}M$), a high concentration of KCI (70 mM), and testosterone ($10{\mu}M$) were observed. Single vesicular myocytes of rabbit were isolated using proteolytic enzymes including collagenase and papain. Inside-out, attached, and whole-cell configurations were examined using the patch clamp technique. The applications of $10{\mu}M$ norepinephrine or 70 mM KCl induced tonic contractions, and $10{\mu}M$ testosterone (pharmacological concentration) evoked dose-dependent relaxations of these precontracted strips. Various $K^+$ channel blockers, such as tetraethylammonium (TEA; $10{\mu}M$), iberiotoxin ($0.1{\mu}M$), 4-aminopyridine (4-AP, $10{\mu}M$), or glibenclamide ($10{\mu}M$) rarely affected these relaxations. Single channel data (of inside-out and attached configurations) of BK channel activity were also hardly affected by testosterone ($10{\mu}M$). On the other hand, however, testosterone reduced L-type $Ca^{2+}$ currents significantly, and found to induce acute relaxation of seminal vesicular smooth muscle and this was mediated, at least in part, by $Ca^{2+}$ current inhibition in rabbit.

This paper presents low-complexity single-image dehazing to enhance the visibility of outdoor images that are susceptible to degradation due to weather and environmental conditions, and applies it to various devices. The conventional methods involve refinement of coarse transmission with high computational complexity and extensive memory requirements. But the proposed transmission estimation method includes excellent edge-preserving performance from comparison of the pixel-based dark channel and the patch-based dark channel in the vicinity of edges, and transmission can be estimated with low complexity since no refinement is required. Moreover, it is possible to accurately estimate transmissions and adaptively remove haze according to the characteristics of the images via prediction of the atmospheric light for each pixel using joint bright and dark channel (JBDC). Comprehensive experiments on various hazy images show that the proposed method exhibits reduced computational complexity and excellent dehazing performance, compared to the existing methods; thus, it can be applied to various fields including real-time devices.

A numerical analysis is performed to investigate the effect of a supply channel and jet hole arrangement on the heat flow characteristics of impingement jet. The jet holes in a supply channel are composed of a single or staggered array from the center of a leading edge channel. The software ICEMCFD is used to generate the structured grids for calculation domain and a CFD code CFX 15.0 to perform the simulation. The present solutions are validated by comparison with the experimental and numerical ones of others. A comparison of mass flow rates of impingement jets and Nusselt numbers on the impingement surface for the single or staggered arrays is made.

This paper aims to develop the numerical model for prediction of the channel migration by analyzing of sediment and flow characteristics with patterns of channel in alluvial rivers. Flow in rivers constitutes to be the meandering or the braided form and rarely straight channel through morphologically stable patterns with mutual actions between the flowing water and bed materials. In order to develop the model for simulation of the channel migration, the channels are divided into two types with positive or negative sign by the direction of curvature radius of the centerline channel ($r_c$). That is, the single bend-channel consists of only one curvature of positive or negative sign and the multi-bend channel consists of two more curvatures of positive or negative sign, respectively. The model analyzes the sediment and flow characteristics under the influence of superelevation, spiral motion, irregularity in bed topography and depth-averaged velocity of channels. For reliability of this model, the single bend-channel and the multi bend channel are compared with experiment data in other models and the measured field data in the Keum-River, respectively. As a result, the both com parisians turn out to be excellent.
An understanding of the hydraulic characteristics in the compound channel with vegetation is important in designing stream restorations or managing the floodplain. A laboratory flume of 16 m long and 0.8 m wide was used for analysis of the hydraulic characteristics in the single section channel and the compound channel with artificial vegetation. Slope of experimental channel is 0.5 %. Discharges are ranged from $0.2\;m^3/s\;to\;$0.4\;m^3/s$. The experiments were done by changing water depth ratio, vegetation density and vegetation location. When water depth ratio in the single section channel with vegetation increase up to 3.5, the results showed that the increment of water depth due to vegetation may be ignored in practice. The maximum increment of water depth was measured up to 6 % in the compound channel with vegetation and the range of velocities increment in the low flow channel was from 25 % to 85 % compared with section average velocities. As the vegetation densities increase and water depth ratios decrease, the velocity of the low flow channel increased. The range of roughness coefficients in the vegetated reaches were estimated from 0.055 to 0.14 in the single section channel and from 0.063 to 0.085 in the compound channel using HEC-RAS and RMA-2 model.
