  • This paper proposes the new adaptive protection algorithm for inverse-time overcurrent relays (OCRs) to ensure their proper operating time and protective coordination. The application of the proposed algorithm requires digital protection relays with microcontroller and memory. The operating parameters of digital OCRs are adjusted based on the available data whenever system conditions (system with distributed generation (DG)) vary. Moreover, it can reduce the calculation time required to determine the operating parameters for achieving its purpose. To verify its effectiveness, several case studies are performed in time-domain simulation. The results show that the proposed adaptive protection algorithm can keep the proper operating time and provide the protective coordination time interval with fast response.

  • A photovoltaic power generation system is an infinite and clean energy system. Recently. because of the realization of high efficiency and low cost PV modules, the studies on the PV system have extensively increased. In this paper. we present an online scheme for parameter estimation of solar cell, based on the model adjustment technique and a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA). The ideal diode model and the diode model with series and shunt resistors are used to estimate their parameters, Simulation works using field data in the form of a V-I characteristic curve are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Generally the wafer is increased by 300mm. We are desired that the wafer is prevented from pollutions of metal contaminant on surface of wafer. We have to develop new wafer cleaning process of IC Manufacturing that can reduce DI water and chemical by removal of the wafer cleaning process step. Moreover, it is difficult to control temprature and density of chemical in spite of rapidly increasing automation of system. We design smart module controller for new generation of semiconductor wet station with intelligent algorithm using data that is taken by computer simulation for optimal system.

  • The rolling of flat slabs or sheet metal is probably the most advanced technique of metalworking technology. In spite of this very intensive activity, the problem if edge cracking has not been resolved. Although edge cracking is a major industrial problem, relatively little well-documented experimental work has been published on subject. Despite the paucity of exact experiments, it is reasonably certain from published data that three causes contribute to its occurrence; (1) limited ductility of the rolled material (2) uneven deformation at the edges and (3) variations in stresses along the width of the rolled material, particular near the edge. The present study was carried out to show the generation of edge cracking using ductile fracture criteria and FE-simulation. The validity of simulated results was verified by rolling experiments of steel strip.

  • Chemical mechanical planarization is one of the core processes in fabrication of semiconductors, which are increasingly used for information storage devices like solid state drives. For higher data capacity in storage devices, CMP process is required to show ultimate precision and accuracy. In this work, 2-dimensional finite element models were developed to investigate the effects of the slurry particle impact on microscratch generation and the phenomena generated at pad-particle-wafer contact interface. The results revealed that no plastic deformation and corresponding material removal could be generated by simple impact of slurry particles under real CMP conditions. From the results of finite element simulations, it could be concluded that the pad-particle mixture formed in CMP process would be one of major factors leading to microscratch generation.

  • This paper proposes a method for generating radar images used in a ship handling simulator, which includes mathematical logics based on radar equations and information from Openflight format files. In order to make radar image much similar to that of real radar in PPI type, the proposed mathematical logic derives radar video signals under the consideration of not only the data form flight format file of simulation scenes, but also geographical radar's position. The proposed method is considered useful to make radar images in ship handling simulator with accuracy and reality.

  • NARX(Nonlinear AutoRegressive with eXogenous input) neural network was used for prediction of nuclear reactor behavior which was influenced by control rods in short-term period and also by the concentration of xenon and boron in long-term period in load following operations. The developed model was designed to predict reactor power, xenon worth and axial offset with different burnup states when control rods and boron were adjusted in load following operations. Data of the Korea Next Generation PWR were collected by ONED94 code. The test results presented exhibit the capability of the NARX neural network model to capture the long term and short term dynamics of the reactor core and the developed model seems to be utilized as a handy tool for the use of a plant simulation.

  • The K-means algorithm is widely used at the initial stage of data analysis in data mining process, partly because of its low time complexity and the simplicity of practical implementation. Cluster validity indices are used along with the algorithm in order to determine the number of clusters as well as the clustering results of datasets. In this paper, we present a performance comparison of sixteen indices, which are selected from forty indices in literature, while considering their applicability to nonhierarchical clustering algorithms. Data sets used in the experiment are generated based on multivariate normal distribution. In particular, four error types including standardization, outlier generation, error perturbation, and noise dimension addition are considered in the comparison. Through the experiment the effects of varying number of points, attributes, and clusters on the performance are analyzed. The result of the simulation experiment shows that Calinski and Harabasz index performs the best through the all datasets and that Davis and Bouldin index becomes a strong competitor as the number of points increases in dataset.

  • In this paper, we propose a high performance L1 cache structure for the high clock CPU. The proposed cache memory consists of three parts, i.e., a direct-mapped cache to support fast access time, a two-way set associative buffer to reduce miss ratio, and a way-select table. The most recently accessed data is stored in the direct-mapped cache. If a data has a high probability of a repeated reference, when the data is replaced from the direct-mapped cache, the data is stored into the two-way set associative buffer. For the high performance and fast access time, we propose an one way among two ways set associative buffer is selectively accessed based on the way-select table (WST). According to simulation results, access time can be reduced by about 7% and 40% comparing with a direct cache and Intel i7-6700 with two times more space respectively.
