  • Nickel oxide was deposited on mesoporous silica by atomic layer deposition (ALD) consisting of sequential exposures to Ni(cp)2 and $H_2O$. NiO/silica samples were characterized by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), etc. The flow-type reactor was used to measure activity of NiO/silica catalyst for catalytic combustion of toluene. The activity of NiO/silica catalyst was evaluated in terms of toluene removal efficiency and selectivity to $CO_2$ and compared with those of bare nickel oxide nanoparticles. In order to investigate influence of reaction temperature on combustion aspect, the catalytic combustion experiments were carried out at various temperatures. We show that both bare and supported NiO can be efficient catalysts for total oxidation of toluene at a temperature as low as $250^{\circ}C$.

  • $TiCl(O-i-Pr)_3/SiO_2$ and $Ti(O-i-Pr)_4/SiO_2$ were prepared by immobilizing chlorotitanium (IV) isopropoxide ($TiCl(O-i-Pr)_3$) and titanium (IV) isopropoxide ($Ti(O-i-Pr)_4$), to pretreated silica. The effect of the polymerization reaction conditions on the catalytic activity and characteristics of the resulting PLA were investigated. The catalytic conversion, molecular weight and polydispersity index (PDI) of the PLA produced on the titanium alkoxide supported catalysts increased proportionally with the reaction temperature. When the PLA was synthesized in bulk polymerization, the PLA produced with the supported catalysts had higher molecular weight than those with homogeneous catalysts. The melting temperature of the polymer produced with silica supported alkoxide catalysts was approximately $170-180^{\circ}C$.

  • The catalytic applicability of various ionic liquids immobilized on different silica-supports such as amorphous, SBA, MCM and commercial silica for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ and epoxides is reviewed in this work. The effects of different structures of supported ionic liquids and silica supports in the synthesis cyclic carbonate by the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ have been remarked. The studies revealed that ionic liquids possessing functional groups or metals exhibited increased catalytic performance towards cyclic carbonate synthesis. Moreover, the reusability of SSIL catalyst and mechanism for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ were studied.

  • HI decomposition step certainly demand catalytic reaction for efficient production of hydrogen in SI process. Platinum catalyst can apply to HI decomposition reaction as well as hydrogenation or dehydrogenation. Generally, noble metal is used as catalyst which is loaded form for getting high dispersion and wide active area. In this study, Pt was loaded onto zirconia, ceria, alumina, and silica by impregnation method. HI decomposition reaction was carried out under the condition of $450^{\circ}C$, 1atm, and $167.76h^{-1}$ (WHSV) in a fixed bed reactor for measuring catalytic activity. And property of a catalyst was observed by BET, TEM, XRD and chemisoption analysis. On the basis of experimental results, we discussed about conversion of HI according to physical properties of the loaded Pt catalyst onto each support.

  • In this study, the bulk polymerizations of L-lactide were carried out with triethylaluminium (TEAL), which was supported inside of the nanopore of silica. The feed amount of TEAL in the feed, the immobilization time and temperature were changed to observe the effect of immobilization condition on the polymerization performance with the silica- supported TEAL. As the feed amount of TEAL increased, the conversion of polymerization increased. The highest molecular weight (MW) was achieved at 8 mmol/g-silica of TEAL. Hexane and toluene as solvents were employed to investigate the effect of temperature on the immobilization. Hexane showed better efficiency of immobilization TEAL and the immobilization temperature at $50^{\circ}C$ showed the highest conversion and MW.

  • Combined temperature programmed reaction (TPR) and infrared (IR) spectroscopic studies for Fischer- Tropsch reaction have been performed over Ru/SiO2 and Ru-Ag/SiO2 supported catalysts. Reaction of linearly absorbed CO with hydrogen starts at 375 K over Ru/SiO2 catalyst and reaches maximum at 420 K accompanied with an intensity decrease of linear CO absorption. The reaction with bridged absorbed CO peaks around 510-535 K. Addition of Ag yields mixed Ru-Ag bimetallic sites while it suppresses the formation of bridged bonded CO. Formation of methane on this modified surface occurs at 390 K and reaches maximum at 444 K. Suppression of hydrogen on the Ag-doped surface also occurs resulting in the formation of unsaturated hydrocarbons and of CHx intermediates not observed with Ru/SiO2 catalyst. Such intermediates are believed to be the building blocks of higher hydrocarbons during the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Linearly absorbed CO is found to be more reactive as compared to bridged CO. The Ag-modified surface also produces CO2 and carbon. On this surface, hydrogenation of CO begins at 390 K and reaches maximum at 494 K. The high temperature for hydrogenation of absorbed CO and C over Ru-Ag/SiO2 catalyst as compared to Ru/SiO2 catalyst is due to the formation of Ru-Ag bimetallic surfaces impeding hydrogen adsorption.

  • A green and efficient method for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones and -thiones through one-pot three-component reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, an aryl aldehyde, and urea or thiourea in acetonitrile using silica gel-supported polyphosphoric acid (PPA-$SiO_2$) as catalyst is described. Compared to the classical Biginelli reaction conditions, the present methodology offers several advantages such as high yields, relatively short reaction times, mild reaction condition and a recyclable catalyst with a very easy work up.

  • Novel tri- and tetra-substituted pyrimido[4,5-d]pyridazines-2(1H,3H,7H)-ones have been synthesized via the regiospecific condensation reaction of hydrazine derivatives with 5-acetyl-4-aryloyl-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidinones in the presence of $SiO_2-Y(NO_3)_3$ as a green and recyclable catalyst under solvent-free conditions. All products were obtained in high yields and short reaction time. Employing this method is in accord with green chemistry principles.
