The reduction of computer time in small-signal stability analysis in power systems : with clustering technique (전력계통의 미소신호 안정도 해석에서 계산시간 단축에 관한 연구 : 크러스터링 기법에 대하여)

  • This paper represents how to reduce the computer time in small signal stability analysis by selecting the dominant oscillation modes with frequency of 0.5 to 1.2 Hz using the clustering technique. Clustering technique links the buses which are expected to be similar with zero-impedance lines and the voltage variations of these buses are regarded to be identical. The computer time was reduced remarkably with this technique and the effect of clustering will be powerful in the analysis of large-scale power systems.

Inhibition of protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 2 by PTP inhibitor XIX: Its role as a multiphosphatase inhibitor

  • Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) play crucial roles in signal transduction and their functional alteration has been detected in many diseases. PTP inhibitors have been developed as therapeutic drugs for diseases that are related to the activity of PTPs. In this study, PTP inhibitor XIX, an inhibitor of CD45 and PTEN, was investigated whether it inhibits other PTPs. Protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 2 (PTPN2) was selectively inhibited by the inhibitor in a competitive manner. Drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS) analysis showed that the inhibitor induces conformational changes in PTPN2. Phosphorylation levels of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) at Tyr-705, a crucial site for STAT3 activation and target site of PTPN2, decreased upon exposure to the inhibitor. Our results suggest that PTP inhibitor XIX might be considered as an effective regulator of PTPN2 for treating diseases related to PTPN2.

  • A new small signal stability analysis method for eigenvalue analysis is presented. The method is based on the computation of the transition matrix over a specified time interval that corresponds to one cycle operation of the system The method is applicable to any system with or without nonlinear elements. An applicable example of RCF method is presented and the eigenvalues are compared with those of the conventional state space method to show the exactness of the computed eigenvalues of the new method. Also, the variations of oscillation modes which were caused by the switching operation can be analyzed exactly using RCF method.

  • The problem of small-signal stability is usually one of insufficient damping of system oscillations. The use of power system stabilizers to control generator excitation system os the most cost effective method of enhancing the small-signal stability of power system. This paper presents the fuzzy type stabilizing controller to damp out the sustained oscillation, which is observed in normal operation. through the comparative simulation with PI type power stabilizer under various system operating condition, the efficiency of fuzzy stabilizing controller with respect to nonlinear power system is verified.

  • This paper presents a new eigenvalue sensitivity analysis method based on AESOPS algorithm. The additional calculation steps are derived from the original AESOPS algorithm. The additional calculation steps are performed directly from the AESOPS algorithm after iteratively calculating electro-mechanical oscillation modes in small signal stability problems. Owing to the structural characteristics of partitioned sub-matrix of state space equations, the partial differentiation terms of system state matrix for obtaining eigenvalue sensitivity indices can be calculated very simply. By the method presented in this paper, the AESOPS algorithm can be used in controller design problem as well as analysis of small signal stability problem.

  • Eigenvalue perturbation theory of augmented system matrix(AMEP) is a useful tool in the analysis and design of large scale power systems. This paper describes the application results of AMEP algorithm with respect to all controller parameter of KEPCO systems. AMEP for interarea and local mode can be used for turning controller parameter, and verifying system data and linear model of controller.

  • GPS type portable-alarm-system is composed of satellite receiving equipment, signal transmission equipment, etc. Time errors occur because of the processing methods of the satellite receiving equipment and signal generator, the positional error of GPS itself, etc. With the recent rise of train speed, it becomes very important to secure the stability of portable-alarm-system from time errors, The present study estimated errors caused by the structure of portable-alarm-system, GPS errors. etc., and verified them. In addition, it examined the effects of such errors on portable-alarm-system according to train speed.

  • In this paper, the RCF(Resistive Companion Form) analysis method which is used to analyze small signal stability problems of non-continuous systems including switching devices. The RCF analysis method is mathematically rigorous and computes eigenvalue of the system periodic transition matrix based on discrete system analysis method. As an effect of switching operations, the eigenvalues of the systems are changed and newly unstable oscillation modes may be occurred. As an illustrating example, the oscillation modes of the system with different switching time intervals are computed exactly by the RCF analysis method and the results show that ON/OFF time intervals of switching equipments are important factors to make the system stable or unstable. This result shows that the RCF analysis method is very powerful to analyze small signal stability problems of power systems including switching devices such as FACTS equipments.

  • Due to uncontrollability and non-repeatability of natural irradiation and temperature, the solar array simulator (SAS) is required to conduct the MPPT power processing experiments precisely. However, the nonlinearity of PV curve characteristic is a crucial task for the control of SAS. In the literature, this issue is addressed by many authors and various methods are proposed. However, stability analysis of SAS is not enough to evaluate the control performance. In this paper, the limitations of conventional SAS are studied according to the small signal model. By using the proposed approach, the performance of two different control method for SAS system are analyzed and compared.

  • A systematic procedure for the elements of system matrix in multimachine systems with loads is suggested for the small-signal stability studies. Synchronous machines are represented by either a two-axis model or classical model. The interrelationship of submatrices of system matrix is investigated. Once elements of one submatrix are determined, they can be used to calculate the elements of the other submatrix. It is illustrated for three machine and nine bus multimachine systems with constant impedance loads, constant MVA load, constant current and power factors.
