This present study deals with the microstructure and tensile properties of 600 MPa-grade high strength and seismic resistant reinforcing steels. The high strength reinforcing steel (SD 600) was fabricated by Tempcore processing, while the seismic resistant reinforcing steel (SD 600S) was air-cooled after hot-rolling treatment. The microstructure analysis results showed that the SD 600 steel specimen consisted of a tempered martensite and ferrite-pearlite structure after Tempcore processing, while the SD 600S steel specimen had a fully ferrite-pearlite structure. The room-temperature tensile test results indicate that, because of the enhanced solid solution and precipitation strengthening caused by relatively higher contents of C, Mn, Si and V in the SD 600S steel specimen, this specimen, with fully ferrite-pearlite structure, had yield and tensile strengths higher than those of the SD 600 specimen. On the other hand, the hardness of the SD 600 and SD 600S steel specimens changed in different ways according to location, dependent on the microstructure, ferrite grain size, and volume fraction.

In this study, the casting/forging process was applied to the Shift-Fork, a manual transmission part of automobiles. In the casting experiments, the effects of additives, Sr, Ti+B and Mg, on the mechanical properties and the microstructure of a cast preform were investigated. When 0.03% Sr were added into the molten aluminum alloy, the finest silicon-structure was observed in the cast preform and the highest tensile strength and elongation accomplished. And when 0.2% Ti+B were added into the molten Al-Si alloy, the highest values of tensile strength were obtained. The maximum hardness was in case of 0.2% Mg. In the forging experiment, it was confirmed that the optimal configuration of the cast preform could be predicted by FE analysis. To minimize the cost as the press size, the compact shape of preform was proposed to reduce the volume of flash. The modification of shape in designing preform was performed to attain a satisfactory performance in the areas where the mechanical strength were more required. By using FVM(Finite Volume Method) software, it was verified that a proposed casting design was available. To identify the relationship between effective strain and mechanical properties of the final forged product, the compression test was performed. As the result, the tensile strength and elongation of a cast preform were much higher than before forging. The minimum forging temperature was found 40$0^{\circ}C$ to save heating time.

The operation of surface and edge finishing is the last and essential process of parts machining, because a product is completed as an assembly. Therefore, the quality of the finished parts has a direct effect upon the performance of the product. Especially, the edge quality depending on the burr control process is very important. A number of deburring processes have been developed for macro burrs such as barreling, brushing, chemical methods, etc. However, micro burr removal when piercing a very thin plate is very difficult, because this badly deteriorates the surface quality of the processed part. When ultrasonic wave is propagated in liquids, it forms an infinitude of micro bubbles. These bubbles generate extremely strong force, which removes micro burrs. In ultrasonic micro deburring, the problem is that burrs are not removed completely, because only components of the explosive force directly act on the burrs, which is not enough. An attempt was made to remove the burrs using ultrasonic vibration in water with SiC as an abrasive agent. Because of the abrasive, smoother edges have been achieved. There are many control parameters in ultrasonic deburring such as abrasive size, ultrasonic frequency and amplitude, distance between tool and workpiece, tilt angle of workpiece etc. This study focuses on how distance and tilt angle influence deburring effect. A number of experiments for these parameters have been carried out, and then the effect of each parameter analyzed.
Effects of surface conditions (temperature and roughness) of test specimens, when measuring emissive power of far-infrared ray, have been investigated using FT-IR spectrometer. Element metal zinc (Zn) was selected in this study as representative specimen of materials consisting of simple element. The zinc specimens were heated to four temperatures, i.e., 333K, 353K, .373K, and also their surface was finished with SiC abrasive papers of 100, 220, 360, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 mesh in size. The results shows that the emissive power (W/㎡) of the far-infrared ray increases with temperature for a given roughness and its relationship may be expressed by the following equations: Yη=1.0=0.142$.$T-0.937 for η=1.0, and Yη=10=0.016$.$T-1.286 for η=10. The emissive power is also known to increase with surface roughness for a given temperature. Their relationship can be represented by the following equations: YT=313K=0.234$.$$\ell$n(η)+3.53, at 313K, YT=353K=0.234$.$$\ell$n(η)+4.02 at 353K and YT=393K=0.243$.$$\ell$n(η)+4.62 at 393K.
We report on an all-solution-processed hydrothermal method to control the morphology of ZnO nanostructures on Si substrates from three-dimensional hemispherical structures to two-dimensional thin film layers, by controlling the seed layer and the molar contents of surfactants during their primary growth. The size and the density of the seed layer, which is composed of ZnO nanodots, change with variation in the solute concentration. The ZnO nanodots act as heterogeneous nucleation sites for the main ZnO nanostructures. When the seed layer concentration is increased, the ZnO nanostructures change from a hemispherical shape to a thin film structure, formed by densely packed ZnO hemispheres. In addition, the morphology of the ZnO layer is systematically controlled by using trisodium citrate, which acts as a surfactant to enhance the lateral growth of ZnO crystals rather than a preferential one-dimensional growth along the c-direction. X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy results reveal that the ZnO structure is wurtzite and did not incorporate any impurities from the surfactants used in this study.
Ambient drying sol-gel processing was used for monolithic silica ambigels in the temperature range of $130-250^{\circ}C$. A new method of mesopore ambigels, which mean the aerogels prepared by ambient pressure drying process synthesis, is suggested at first. This method includes two important approaches. The first point is that $SiO_{2}$ surface modification of wet gel was performed by trimethylchlorosilane in n-butanol solution. This procedure is provided the silica gel mesopore structure formation. The second point is a creation of the ternary azeotropic mixture water/n-butanol/octane as porous liquid, which is effectively provided removing of water such a low temperature by 2 step drying condition under ambient pressure. The silica aerogels, which were prepared by ambient pressure drying from azeotropic mixture of water/n-butanol/octane, are transparent, crack-free and mesoporous (pore size ${\sim}$ 5.6 nm) with surface area of ${\sim}$$923{\;}m^2/g$, bulk density of $0.4{\;}g/cm^3$ and porosity of 85 %.

This paper proposed a high-power density bidirectional converter for hybrid electric vehicle high-voltage DC-DC converter(HDC). The conventional HDC has two disadvantages. First, large inductance is required to satisfy the ripple current of inductor by low switching frequency (<20 kHz). Second, large core size is required to prevent the saturation of inductor by high current. Compared with the conventional HDC, the proposed HDC can reduce inductance with SiC-FET for high frequency driving. High-power density of I/O capacitors can be achieved through two-phase interleaved method. The high-power density of inductors can be achieved because the offset current of magnetizing inductance is theoretically terminated by using the differential mode coupled inductor instead of using two single inductors. The validity of the proposed converter is proved through the 50 kW prototype.

Organic thin film transistors with a pentacene active layer and various polymer gate insulators were fabricated and their performances were investigated. Characteristics of pentacene thin film transistors on different polymer substrates were investigated using an atomic force microscope (AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The pentacene thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation on the gate insulators of various polymers. Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS), polyvinyl acetate (PVA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) were fabricated as the gate insulator where a pentacene layer was deposited at 40, 55, 70, 85, 100 oC. Pentacene thin films on PMMA showed the largest grain size and least trap concentration. In addition, pentacene TFTs of top-contact geometry are compared with PMMA and $SiO_2$ as gate insulators, respectively. We also fabricated pentacene TFT with Poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-Polysturene Sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) electrode by inkjet printing method. The physical and electrical characteristics of each gate insulator were tested and analyzed by AFM and I-V measurement. It was found that the performance of TFT was mainly determined by morphology of pentacene rather than the physical or chemical structure of the polymer gate insulator

What causes the transformation of a solar cell is the behavior difference of thermal expansion occurred between the substrate and the layer of semiconductor used in the solar cell. Therefore, the substrate has to possess a behavior of thermal expansion that is similar with that of semiconductor layer. This study employed electroforming to manufacture Fe-Ni alloy materials of different compositions. To verify the result from a finite element analysis, a two-dimensional Mo substrate was calculated and its verification experiment was conducted. The absolute values from the finite element analysis of Mo/substrate structure and its verification experiment showed a difference. However, the size of residual stress of individual substrate compositions had a similar tendency. Two-dimensional CIGS/Mo/$SiO_2$/substrate was modeled. Looking into the residual stress of CIGS layer occurred while the temperature declined from $550^{\circ}C$ to room temperature, the smallest residual stress was found with the use of Fe-52 wt%Ni substrate material.

This study proposes a 7kW low-voltage DC-DC converter (LDC) using a coupled inductor (CI) for heavy hydrogen electric transport vehicles. The LDC uses a phase-shift manner for soft switching. SiC-MOSFET is used to reduce the loss of reverse recovery current through the use of a high switching frequency. LDC is require large transformer and inductor because of large output current. The size of transformer and inductor can be reduced by deviding the transformer and inductor into two pieces each. This work presents the experimental results of the proposed circuit.
