  • The overall performance of multiuser systems significantly depends on how effectively and fairly manage resources shared by them. The efficient resource management strategies are even more important for multimedia users since multimedia data is delay-sensitive and massive. In this paper, we focus on resource allocation based on a game-theoretic approach, referred to as Nash bargaining solution (NBS), to provide a quality of service (QoS) guarantee for each user. While the NBS has been known as a fair and optimal resource management strategy, it is challenging to find the NBS efficiently due to the computationally-intensive task. In order to reduce the computation requirements for NBS, we propose an approach that requires significantly low complexity even when networks consist of a large number of users and a large amount of resources. The proposed approach linearizes utility functions of each user and formulates the problem of finding NBS as a convex optimization, leading to nearly-optimal solution with significantly reduced computation complexity. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • This study intends to closely examine an evaluation of effectiveness of the HRM associated with interactions among employees(I), purpose recognition(P), role feedbacks(R), and motivative compensation(M). The following is a summary of the results of this research: From the study of the actual situation of the human resource management by the Korean firms, it appeared that the form of existence of vision systems possessed the form of having been written as documents and co-shared. And, although, in the area of motivation endowment and feedbacks, the level of motivation endowment regarding the comprising member by those in charge of departments and the level of reflection of the company's personnel policies in the execution of work by the departments were ordinary, the level of presenting the opinion of the departments regarding the company's personnel policies was shown to be low. And, the decisive elements of wages and the compensation standard were in the order of performance basis and long service. Also, it was analyzed that the leadership style of the CEO is the most important element that influences human resource management policies. And, it was analyzed that in the evaluation of the human resource management area the roles regarding evaluation and compensation, especially, the mutual interactions of the comprising members, feedbacks, and improvement activities are inadequate. And the managerial implications are discussed.

  • To reduce switch cost, the optimum numbers of tunable wavelength converters (TWCs) and internal wavelengths required for contention resolution of asynchronous and variable length packets like internet traffics, is presented in the optical packet switch (OPS) with the shared fiber delay line (FDL) buffer. To optimize TWCs and internal wavelength related to on OPS design cost, we proposed a scheduling algorithm for the limited TWCs and internal wavelengths. For three TWC alternatives (not shared, partially shared, and fully shared cases), the optimum numbers of TWCs and internal wavelengths to guarantee minimum pocket loss are evaluated to prevent resource waste. Under o given load, TWCs and internal wavelengths could be significantly reduced, guaranteeing the same pocket loss probability as the performance of on OPS with full TWCs and internal wavelengths.

  • Studies on time-use have generally concentrated on the amount of time used by each member of a household in Korea. The quality of family relationships could be associated with the amount and types of interactions between family members. This study examined the time that adults spend with their family members on various activities. The purpose of this study is to explore a typology of family time and investigate the characteristics of each type. The data source was the 2009 Time-Use Survey conducted by the Korean National Statistics Office. The people involved in each activity were surveyed for the first time in the 2009 survey in Korea. The data from this study included 10,902 diaries that were filled on weekdays by married adults from ages 20 to 59 years. Data from rural households were excluded. Time use was divided into three categories: family meals, household work and family leisure time. These activities were analyzed using t-test, chi-square analysis and cluster analysis. Family time was classified into four types based on three categories. The four types were named "leisure sharing", "household work sharing", "overall sharing" and "non-sharing". The most common type was non-sharing. The characteristics of each type depended on gender and paid work time. Based on these results, family and labor policies should be developed to increase the work-life balance. Policies that focus on men over 40 years are especially recommended.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the family's meals of the daily time use and to examine how shared meals time together with family is influenced by socio-demographic variables. The Time Use Survey data collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 2009 is used. Among the total sample of 21,000 individuals, 9,179 samples who are married, aged from 20 to 59 years old and non-farmers are selected for analysis. The statistical methods are frequency, percentage, and censored regression model. The following is a summary of the major findings. The first, compared with the research results in 1999 and 2004, the time use of meals by adults is longer. But average time of family meals decreases and rates of family meals participants 2009 decrease 5.6% than 1999. Secondly, the family meals time increases from about 36 minutes on weekdays to about an hours at weekends. Regardless of the day, the women's family meals time is longer than that of men's. Thirdly, the influencing factors on family meals are sex, age, education, presence or absence of spouses, monthly income, weekly working hours and presence or absence of preschoolers. And the magnitude of gender differences in daily shared meals is not particularly large except in the case of some socio-demographic variables. Regardless of the day, women's family meals time is more affected by either dual-earner status or monthly income than that of men's.

  • Multi-ports register could shared several instructions at the same time in read operation. We address a formal methods for describing timing analysis and resource restriction in pipeline super scalar process that having multi-Port registers. First, we specify in-order pipeline instructions, and then, extend timing analysis in out-of-order super-scalar. In this case, we find instruction pairs in any cycle which can execute same time, We use ACSR(Algebra of Communicating Shared Resources), a branch of formal methods based on process algebra, for instruction specification and modelling.

  • Chronic diseases as well as a growing population of older adults are currently the leading cause of ill health and economic burden worldwide. Managing those diseases in one-on-one medical consultations poses substantial challenges due to limited time and resources in the current health care system. Various approaches have been taken to manage these conditions, most with limited success. Shared medical appointments (SMAs) are an innovative care delivery option to make the testing of alternative care modalities a prime concern. SMAs are individual medical consultations carried out in a group of patients with similar diseases by providing education, medication management, and disease monitoring. SMAs, since their initial conceptualization in 1998, have gained much popularity and adopted as one of the standard processes in many countries. Accumulated evidence-based studies show outcomes for increasing access to care, behavioral change facilitated through self-management education, maintained/better outcomes, physician productivity, and enhanced resource management. This review summarizes current evidence regarding the existing status of SMAs abroad. An extensive literature search was conducted on major electronic databases including PubMed and Google Scholar. This study suggests to explore and exploit the SMAs which have unique potential as a healthcare delivery innovation in Korea.

  • Grid technologies make it possible for IT resources to be shared across organizational and security domains. The traditional identity-based access control mechanisms are unscalable and difficult to manage. Thus, we propose the FAS (Federation Agent Server) model which is composed of three modules: Certificate Conversion Module (CCM), Role Decision Module (RDM), and Authorization Decision Module (ADM). The proposed FAS model is an extended Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model which provides resource access capabilities based on roles assigned to the users. FAS can solve the problem of assigning multiple identities to a shared local name in grid-map file and mapping the remote entity's identity to a local name manually.
