  • The track is an important component of rail structures. The characteristic of the track settlement must be confirmed in order to evaluate the stability of the track. It is effected by action load and the characteristic of the track material. This study investigates the mechanism of the track settlement and the effect of initial settlement and long-term settlement on the characteristic of the track settlement through literature survey. It tries to observe the future research direction of track settlement.

  • Settlement in the Shallow Foundation are presented. Various practical methods to calculate immediate settlement, consolidation settlement, and secondary compression of the compressive soils under the shallow foundation are summerized. Especially the critical depth for settlement calculation, the contact pressure, the allowable settlement of the shallow foundation are recommended.

영동지역 청동기시대 취락구조의 변천 (The study changes of the settlement structure on Bronze Age in Yongdong area)

  • 영동지역 청동기시대 취락구조에 대한 연구는 한정된 지역과 유적에 대한 조사가 이루어진 상태이고, 대부분의 전기취락에서는 주거지만이 조사되어 종합적인 검토를 할 수 없는 상황이다. 전기취락은 이른 시기에는 취락의 규모가 작으며, 방내리 단계부터 구릉 내에 주거 점유 면적이 늘어남에 따라 자연히 주거지 수가 증가하면서 취락의 규모가 확대되는 양상이 보여진다. 중기취락은 현재 방동리 A 유적에서 최초로 확인되었으나, 취락구조를 검토하기에는 자료의 증가가 필요하다. 원형점토대토기 단계인 후기취락은 하천 주변에 위치한 구릉성 취락인 송현리 취락과 고지성 취락에 해당하는 방동리 취락에서는 주거지, 환호, 수혈유구, 소성유구, 분묘, 대형의 공공주거지 등의 대규모 원형 점토대토기 취락이 조사되어 청동기시대 후기의 문화양상과 성격 및 취락구조를 파악할 수 있는 자료를 제공해 주었다.

  • The benefit of reinforced roadbeds, such as roadbed reinforced with slag and roadbed with crushed stone has been known among engineers. In this study, model soil box test is executed to determine optimum roadbed thickness. As a result, a empirical solution for the settlement of reinforced roadbeds was suggested. Furthermore, optimum thickness of reinforced roadbed could be determined based on the settlement characteristic of reinforced roadbed among the several variables.

  • This paper is a study of rural settlement and housing planning in Jeongsun-Gun Kangwon Province. The method of survey to look in spot and interview, the present condition, and of the rural settlement of among the mountains. This study lays emphasis on three ri of dongmyeon Jeongson-Gun, Kangwondo retaining their present form relaytively through sample survey. Site plan of rural settlement of investigation subject involve the rural settlement in which is to search the arrangement, plan and spacial characteristic of rural settlement of among the mountains. Accordingly this study clarify the changed shape and form of rural settlement of among the mountains by selecting and put on record an scattered along.

SCP 복합지반 침하거동예측을 위한 새로운 침하모델의 개발 (Development of New Settlement Model for Prediction of Settlement Characteristics of SCP Composite Ground)

  • 본 연구에서는 모래 다짐말뚝 공법의 설계 및 시공단계에서 침하거동 예측에 활용될 수 있는 합리적이고 간편한 해석기법을 제안하였으며, 모델 계수값들은 유전자 알고리즘에 근거한 최적화 과정을 통하여 구할 수 있다. 제안된 기법의 검증을 위하여 0(무치환), 20, 36 및 56%의 다양한 모래 치환율에 대한 SCP 복합지반의 침하거동에 관한 실내압밀실험이 수행되었다. 제안된 모델은 각 치환율에 대하여 간극비-대수응력 관계 및 시간-압축 관계에서 계측값과 매우 일치되는 경향성을 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 포화 점성토지반 침하량의 합리적인 평가를 위한 새로운 개념의 응력경로법 적용방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 적용방법은 특정 점성토지반에 대해 구조물 침하와 관련하여 현장에서 나타날 수 있는 모든 응력변화 조건을 포괄하는 특성변형거동을 실험적으로 선행하여 평가한 다음, 이를 이용하여 일체의 추가적인 시험없이 발생가능한 다양한 현장조건에 대해 손쉽게 침하량을 평가하는 방법이다. 본 연구의 Part I에서는 이러한 새로운 침하량 평가개념의 실용화와 관련하여 포화 점성토지반의 침하관련 특성변형거동을 최소한의 시험만으로 효율적으로 평가하고 이를 바탕으로 임의의 응력변화 조건에 대해 손쉽게 변형거동을 예측하는 구체적인 방법을 개발하였으며, 그 적용성을 실제 사례를 통해 명확히 확인하였다.

강성지반위 사질토층에 위치한 얕은기초의 침하량특성분석 (Analysis of Settlement Characteristics of Shallow Foundation on Sandy Soil Overlained by Rigid Ground)

  • In this paper the settlement characteristic of shallow foundation on sandy soil overlained by rigid ground was investigated by analyzing results of model tests. For model experiments, model tests were performed with sandy soils sampled from the field, changing the relative density of sandy soil and the ratio of thickness of sandy layer(H) to the width of model strip footing(B). As result of tests, settlement of sandy soils increases as the value of H/B increases, whereas it increases with relative density of soil. Bearing capacity decreases as the thickness of the sand layer relative to the footing width increases. In order to analyze the settlement characteristics of sandy ground, the results of model tests were compared with the predicted values using the empirical formulas proposed by Terzaghi, De Beer and Schmertmann. The method by De Beer was found to be in good agreements with test results.

  • In this study the CGS as an injection method by low slump mortar was performed the pilot test to confirm the applicability of this method and the effectiveness of settlement restraint. From the results, there has been concluded the construction control standard such as an institutional diameter, space, depth, injection materials, Infection pressure etc. Also, there has been estimated the ground improvement effectiveness which has resulted from the field investigation and consolidation test etc. From the results, in the adjacent ground the CGS, generally, has been confirmed to in-crease ground strength to improve the consolidation characteristic obtained from the field investigation and consolidation test. Especially, the CGS which performed the larger stiffness to the ground has been concluded that the settlement restraint to the ground complicates the ground effect which Increases the bearing capacity and stress assignment. So, the CGS can be considered as an effective method to increase the bearing capacity as well as the settlement restraint of soft ground.

Calculation method for settlement of micropile installed in rock layers through field tests

  • Micropiles consisting of steel bars and grouts are commonly used in underpinning methods to reinforce supports or to suppress the subsidence of existing structures. Recently, applications in the field of geotechnical engineering have expanded. Despite the increasing use of micropiles are used, the PHC or steel pile formula is still applied for the settlement amount of micropiles. Compared with field test results, the amount of micropile subsidence obtained from the existing method may result in a very large error in the displacement of the micropile. Therefore, it is difficult to utilize micropiles effectively. Hence, to solve this problem, this study evaluated the behaviors and support characteristics of micropiles through field compression and tensile tests, and proposed a method for predicting the amounts of their subsidence. To confirm the appropriateness of the proposed method, field test results and the results obtained using the proposed method were compared. It was found that the settlement amounts of the micropiles as predicted through the existing method were significantly overestimated (error ≈ 50-80%) relative to the field test results, whereas the settlement errors of the piles predicted through the proposed method decreased (error ≈6-32%). Thus, it is possible to reduce the previously overestimated amount of settlement, and the modified method of this study allows more efficient design than the conventional method.
