  • The importance of trade in services has been increasing day by day, but the research on it is insufficient so far in terms of basic information, statistics, influence, industrialization and so on. To foster of professional trader in services, we need curriculums, textbooks and training centers like academy or college in advance. We have well developed curriculums for trade in goods since 1960's in Korea, so we can transfer the trade in goods' curriculum to trade in services. There are some differences between trade in goods and trade in services basically, but we can borrow a lot of idea from trade in goods in terms of basic framework like international economics, international business and international commercial transactions. Third, international commercial transaction of trade in services concentrate for procedures and contracts in terms of formation, implementation and finish of contract. Finally, Services industries can be a future strategic industry to any contries, so there are some national and corporates' strategy for expanding their business. This study acts on the initial idea for curriculums of trade in services, so I am looking forward to many criticism and development from another researchers to develop the model curriculums and textbook for education of specialized trader in services.

  • This study aims to review the differences and distinctive characteristics between storytelling method of virtual reality contents and storytelling method of conventional contents instead of focusing on economic and industrial effects of virtual reality contents. As a specific target, this study discusses how existing storytelling method of webtoons as a single contents genre can be applied to virtual reality contents when webtoons are adapted into virtual reality contents. The purpose of this study is to find limitations and possibilities for the storytelling technique of virtual reality contents. The results of this study showed that the essence of storytelling in virtual reality contents is in three roles of the users of virtual reality. The users of virtual reality must play the roles of service user, audience of contents, and director of story. This is because the most important storytelling techniques in media contents like editing and change of camera viewpoint can no longer be forced in virtual reality contents. Storytelling techniques in virtual reality contents are much limited compared to the conventional contents in terms of user interaction, expansion of senses, and guarantee of freedom.

  • The purpose of the study is to implement the management model of the institutional repositories for the efficient distribution infrastructure of national knowledge focusing on the dCollection system which is operated by KERIS (service provider). In order to build the management model, the two steps were utilized. The first step is to investigate the checklists of repositories that are important factors for the successful repository implementation through literature review. On the other hand, the second one is to survey the current status of the sixteen domestic and foreign institutional repositories through interviews, surveys and email as well as the repository home pages and literature reviews. Through the two steps, the management model including six components such as content and librarian role was proposed. The proposed management model will be utilized to supply guides both to the universities which plan to build their institutional repositories and to the universities which try to promote the activities of their repositories.

For the analysis, the utility function of the consumers was estimated using the conjoint choice method. The results of the analysis can be summarized in two-folds. First, consumer will still prefer KEPCO in electricity sales. Therefore, difficulties can be expected when new companies enter the power retail market. Second, consumers do not favor bundled services in the electricity market also. Bundled services would not provide as much as utility each service provide separately.

  • The Japan National Committee for the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and UICC-Asia Regional Office (ARO) organized an international session as part of the official program of the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association to discuss the topic "What is cost-effectiveness in cancer treatment?" Healthcare economics are an international concern and a key issue for the UICC. The presenters and participants discussed the question of how limited medical resources can be best used to support life, which is a question that applies to both developing and industrialized countries, given that cancer treatment is putting medical systems under increasing strain. The emergence of advanced yet hugely expensive drugs has prompted discussion on methodologies for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) that seek to quantify cost and effect. The session benefited from the participation of various stakeholders, including representatives of industry, government and academia and three speakers from the Republic of Korea, an Asian country where discussion on HTA methodologies is already advanced. In addition, the session was joined by a representative of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) of the United Kingdom, which has pioneered the concept of cost-effectiveness in a medical context. The aim of the session was to advance and deepen understanding of the issue of cost-effectiveness as viewed from medical care systems in different regions.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to assess the validity of 'Korean Diagnosis Related Groups-Korean Medicine (KDRG-KM)' which was developed by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) in 2013 Methods: Among inpatient EDI claim data issued by hospitals and clinics in 2012, the data which included Korean medicine procedures were selected and analyzed. We selected control targets in the Korean medicine hospitals which had longer Episodes-Costliness index (ECI) and Lengthiness index (LI) than average of total Korean medicine hospitals, and compared the results of selection between the major diagnosis-based patient classification system and the KDRG-KM system. Finally, the explanation power (R2) and coefficient of variation (CV) of the KDRG-KM system using practice expenses were calculated. Results: The numbers of control target in Korean medicine hospitals changed from 36 to 32 when patient grouping adjustment method was changed from major diagnosis to KDRG-KM. For expenses of all outpatient claim data on Korean medicine, explanation power of KDRG-KM system was 66.48% after excluding outliers. CVs of expenses of patient groups in Korean medicine hospitals were gathered from under 70% to under 90%, and those in long-term care hospitals mostly belonged under 70%. Conclusions: The validity of KDRG-KM system was assured in terms of explanation power. By adapting KDRG-KM system, fairness of control targets selection for costliness management in Korean medicine hospitals can be enhanced.
