  • A new approximation method for finding the steady-state probabilities of the number of customers present in queueing systems with Poisson arrivals and two servers with different deterministic service times with infinite waiting room capacity is developed. The major assumption made for the approximation is that the residual service times of the servers have mutually independent uniform distributions with densities equal to the reciprocals of the respective service times. The method reflects the heterogeneity of the servers only through the ratio of their service times, irrespective of the actual magnitudes and difference. The transition probability matrix is established and the steady-state probabilities are found for a variety of traffic intensities and ratios of the two service times; also the mean number of customers present in the system and in the queue, and server utilizations are found and tabulated. The method was validated by simulation and turned out to be very sharp.

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe the transition of a 1,100 beds teritary hospital from 50% softcopy operation to full PACS operation. For the past 2 years, radiologists and clinicians have been using PACS to provide softcopy services to the outpatient clinics and inpatient wards of orthopedics surgery, neurosurgery and neurology as well as emergency room, surgical intensive care unit, medical intensive unit, pediatrics intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit. The examinations requested by these departments account for about 50% of hospital's radiological exams. In September 1996, we began the second phase of PACS implementation and installed additional workstations (102) in the remaining wards and clinics, interfaced to PACS additional imaging modalites, and increased the capacity of both the image server (256 Gbytes) and optical juke boxes (3 Tbytes). As of January 1997, we are in the final phase of moving away from conventional film system to full PACS operation.

  • This paper presents the real-time water tank wireless control in a ship using duplex RF modules and PLC(Programmable logic Controller). The purpose of this paper is developing HMI(Human Machine Interface) for automation equipments. The system can low a cost because long wires are no more used. Analog signals of the water gauge and flow meter are changed to discrete signals by the micro-processor. The PLC checks the volume of water and runs On or Off of the valve and pump. Duplex RF modules send and receive data between the water tank and control room. Everywhere the Internet is used, operators are able to check the status of the system by the web-server.

  • Therefore this study focused on developing real-time system, which makes it possible for nurses to check the residual quantity and changing time of Ringer's solution in nurses' room. Load Cell is utilized as a sensor to check the residual quantity of Ringer's solution. This Load Cell detects the physical changes of Ringer's solution and transfers electronic signal to the amplifier. Amplified analog signal is converted into digital signal by A/D converter. Developed Embedded system, which computes these data with microprocess(8052) then makes it possible to monitor the residual quantity of Ringer's solution real-time on a server computer. A Checking system on Residual Quantity of Ringer's Solution Using Load cell cut costs using a simple design for a circuit

  • Despite the government's various safety measures, the number of safety accidents continues to rise and the interior is more likely to occur indoors than outdoors. Safety accidents involving young children account for more than 70 % of the safety accidents in the safety accidents, and the ratio of safety accidents in the classroom or classroom is more than 50 %. In this thesis the author proposes the system managing the accidents notification service using LED lighting and access entry control. Utilizing IoT technology, remote control or access can be controlled remotely by controlling multiple lights and entrances from each room and by means of a number of lighting and entrances. By monitoring and analyzing real-time status via server PC and mobile interface, it can control the maximum control and incident prevention, automatic control, and automatic control.

  • DAS(Data Acquisition System) as a ground support equipment has played a critical role in proving the status of ready-to-fire of a rocket system before launch. But it is hard to implement and place a real-time measuring system in a control room at a long distance from the vehicle. In this paper DAS is introduced by being located at the LEC(Launch Equipment Container)[1], 50 meters away from the rocket and connected to remote monitoring system via fiber optics with TCP/IP protocol by means of client/server algorithm. Therefore real-time data acquisition and storage are guaranteed and a convenient and useful MMI (Man-Machine Interface) can be developed.

  • We discuss the problem of selecting profitable customer orders arriving at a company providing two classes of services. For an arriving customer order for the first class, the company 1) makes a decision whether to accept or reject it (admission control), or 2) decides a price of the order to offer to an arriving customer (pricing control). The customer order undergoing processing in the system may be cancelled owing to unavoidable circumstances with the customer. The second class of service is provided as a sideline, which prevents the server from being idle when all the customer orders for the first class are completed and delivered. This yields the sideline profit. We discuss both admission control and pricing control problems in an identical framework as well as examine the structure of the optimal policies maximizing the total expected present discounted net profit gained over an infinite planning horizon.

  • The objective of the present study is to identify the ventilation problems and to suggest the optimal ventilation system to save energy and to improve IAQ in the computer rooms, which annually performs the cooling operation by the server with the highly thermal load. Numerical results on the temperature and local mean age are presented along with some of the discharge velocities. Results show many interesting aspects of airflow patterns affecting the ventilation performances, according to the discharge velocity of the supply diffuser installed in the bottom surfaces between the servers. As the results, 2.5 m/s of the optimal discharge velocity is needed in order to improve the ventilation performance.

  • Current video games and game room games are played as a single player mode on the basis of various emulators. With the evolution of data communications and game technology, a new trend in the game industry has made the primary interests of game developers and companies in the game industry be moved toward a multiplayer mode from the traditional single player mode. In this paper, we represent how to implement a network game platform by allowing network modules to be run in conjunction with the current video emulator games. It also suggests a synchronization scheme for real-time game playout and practical mechanism that can support network games to be played with the Peer-to-Peer process using a lobby system.
