Search Design of Resolution III.3 for $3^4$Factorial

  • The basic conditions for a parallel flats fraction to be a search design of resolution III.2 have been developed in Um (1980, 1981, 1983, 1984). A series of resolution III.2 search design for $3^n, n=4, 5, 6$ are presented in Um (1988). In this paper a resoultion III.3 search design for $3^4$ is presented.

Practical Methodology of the Integrated Design and Power Control Unit for SHEV with Multiple Power Sources

  • Series hybrid electric vehicles (SHEVs) having multiple power sources such as an engine- generator (EnGen), a battery, and an ultra-capacitor require a power control unit with high power density and reliable control operation. However, manufacturing using separate individual power converters has the disadvantage of low power density and requires a large number of power and signal cable wires. It is also difficult to implement the optimal power distribution and fault management algorithm because of the communication delay between the units. In order to address these concerns, this approach presents a design methodology and a power control algorithm of an integrated power converter for the SHEVs powered by multiple power sources. In this work, the design methodology of the integrated power control unit (IPCU) is firstly elaborately described, and then efficient and reliable power distribution algorithms are proposed. The design works are verified with product-level and vehicle-level performance experiments on a 10-ton SHEV.

  • Powder injection molding(PIM) is widely used for many parts in the field of automotives, electronics and medical industries, due to the capability of net shaping for complex 3-D geometry. Powder injection mold design for the dental scaler tip, a component of medical appliance, was presented. In comparison with conventional machining process, powder injection molding has many advantages, specially in price and dimensional stability, for molding dental scaler tip which has complex geometry. Both product design and mold design for dental scaler tip were presented. A PIM feedstock was made of stainless series(17-4PH, 316L, 440C) powder and a wax based binder. The 'rapid mold' concept was applied to manufacture the various forms and materials of dental scaler tip including vibration characteristics.

저전력 응용을 위한 28 nm 금속 게이트/high-k MOSFET 디자인 (28 nm MOSFET Design for Low Standby Power Applications)

  • This paper explores 28 nm MOSFET design for LSTP(Low Standby Power) applications using TCAD(Technology Computer Aided Design) simulation. Simulated results show that the leakage current of the MOSFET is increasingly dominated by GIDL(Gate Induced Drain Leakage) instead of a subthreshold leakage as the Source/Drain extension doping increases. The GIDL current can be reduced by grading lateral abruptness of the drain at the expense of a higher Source/Drain series resistance. For 28 nm MOSFET suggested in ITRS, we have shown Source/Drain design becomes even more critical to meet both leakage current and performance requirement.

Hull form design for the fore-body of medium-sized passenger ship with gooseneck bulb

  • The recent IMO MEPC regulation on EEDI, EEOI and increased fuel cost has worsened the financial condition of the small and medium sized passenger ferry companies, and it is situated to acquire the economic ships with a pretty high resistance performance. The purpose of this research is to develop a design method on the efficient gooseneck bulb for the middle-sized passenger ferry operated in the Far East Asian seas. The hull forms are designed by varying the gooseneck bulb parameters to find the changes on the resistance performance according to the shape of bulb. The numerical series tests are made to derive the regression equation for estimating the resistance through analyzing the data statistically. This equation is set as an objective function, and then using the optimization algorithm searches for the optimal combination of the design variables. After a hull form is designed corresponding to optimized parameters.

  • The factors affecting the long-term design strength of geogrid for railroad reinforcement can be classified into factors on creep deformation, installation damage, temperature, chemical degradation, biological degradation. Especially, creep deformation and installation damage are considered as main factors to determine the long-term design strength of geogrid. This paper describes the results of a series of experimental study, which are carried out to assess the combined effect of installation damage and creep deformation for the long-term design strength of geogrid reinforcement. In this study, a series of field tests are carried out to assess installation damage of a various geogrids according to different fill materials, and then creep tests are conducted to assess the creep properties of both undamaged and damaged geogrids.

천수 영역에서의 Series 60 선형에 대한 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on the Shallow Water Effect on Series 60 Hull Form)

  • 연안항로용 선박에 있어서 수심은 선박의 흘수와 속도에 제한을 주는 요소로 작용함으로써, 설계에 있어서 상당히 중요한 요소라 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 제한수심에 따른 선박의 저항성능의 변화를 알기 위해, 천수장비를 이용하여 각기 다른 수심에서 선박의 저항 및 트림, 침하를 측정하였다. 천수영향에 대한 기초적 연구단계로서, 본 연구에서는 Series60($C_B=0.6$) 선형을 대상 선형으로 선정하였다. 실험은 기존의 실험 자료와 동일한 수심조건을 주어 그 결과를 비교하였다. 수심조건은 각각 모형선 수선간장의 10, 15, 20, 25% 로 하였다.

AN EFFICIENT AND STABLE ALGORITHM FOR NUMERICAL EVALUATION OF HANKEL TRANSFORMS

  • Recently, a number of algorithms have been proposed for numerical evaluation of Hankel transforms as these transforms arise naturally in many areas of science and technology. All these algorithms depend on separating the integrand $rf(r)J_{\upsilon}(pr)$ into two components; the slowly varying component rf(r) and the rapidly oscillating component $J_{\upsilon}(pr)$. Then the slowly varying component rf(r) is expanded either into a Fourier Bessel series or various wavelet series using different orthonormal bases like Haar wavelets, rationalized Haar wavelets, linear Legendre multiwavelets, Legendre wavelets and truncating the series at an optimal level; or approximating rf(r) by a quadratic over the subinterval using the Filon quadrature philosophy. The purpose of this communication is to take a different approach and replace rapidly oscillating component $J_{\upsilon}(pr)$ in the integrand by its Bernstein series approximation, thus avoiding the complexity of evaluating integrals involving Bessel functions. This leads to a very simple efficient and stable algorithm for numerical evaluation of Hankel transform.

3상 직렬공진형 고전압 커패시터 충전기의 해석 및 설계 (Analysis and Design of a 3-phase Series-Resonant type High Voltage Capacitor Charger)

  • This paper suggests a 3-phase series-resonant type high voltage capacitor charger for an EML pulsed power system. The operating principle on the charger is explained by an equivalent circuit. Additionally, we analyze the charging characteristic in one discontinuous conduction mode and three continuous conduction modes. The analysis shows that the resonant current per phase is two thirds of the 3-phase charger's average charging current and one third of the single-phase charger's average charging current with the same capacity. We suggest a design method of the 3-phase capacitor charger in each operational mode and present an example of 3.5 kW capacitor charger at ${\omega}_s=0.33{\omega}_r$. The 3.5 kW 3-phase capacitor charger prototype is assembled with a TI28335 controller and a 40 kJ, 7 kV capacitor. The design rules based on the analysis are verified by experiment.

직렬형 플러그인 하이브리드 전기 버스의 엔진 구동 전략에 따른 시뮬레이션 기반 연비 분석 (Analysis of Fuel Economy for Series Plug-in Hybrid Electric Bus according to Engine Operation Strategy Based on Simulation)

  • Because of high oil prices and emission gas problems, many governments tighten regulation of fuel economy and emission gas. For Passenger car, there are many researches for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and they are being manufactured. On the other hand, there are few researches for plug-in hybrid electric bus that is heavy commercial vehicle. In this study, analysis of fuel economy for series plug-in hybrid electric bus according to engine operation strategy based on simulation is conducted. Forward simulator is developed using Autonomie. Engine operation strategies consist on constant engine operation strategy and engine on/off operation strategy. Considering the engine operation strategy, results of vehicle speed, engine operating points and fuel economy are obtained and analyzed. As a result, engine on/off operation strategy has more advantage than constant engine operation strategy in terms of fuel economy.
