A semiotic approach to modern visual arts has emerged since French post-structuralism was introduced to Anglo -American academics by "deconstruction" or "postmodernism." It views a work of art as a sign, which is its methodical assumption ana at the same time makes its application more accessible In the milieu of modern visual arts'effort to be intimate to with general audience, modern art photography is now faced with the request to be a familar and universal domain instead of being left only in photo books as artistic and academic achievements More specifically, various photo images 1mm such visual media as newspapers TVs, and computer graphics to such megaexhibitions as "Gwangju Biennale," "Media City Seoul," and "Pusan International Art Festival," are main objects of s030y. A coherent and scientific analysis of visual semitotics is still on the way; however, it is an urgent task how to read and interpret a photo image with multiple meanings This study argues that visual semiotics can be a powerful tool to enhance the understanding of art photography. Through the development of digital technology digital game is becoming a fusion of work and play. The aim of this article is to define the concept of labortainment game that playing the game as a consumer is connected with work to create new value-added economic production and to ascertain the characteristics of labortainment game through a semiotic approach. Digital Game has evolved into a more advanced from which accumulated game data is used as something of value in itself for facilitating collaboration as well as entertainment value of games. Labortainment game fills game developer's hidden desire through using the game data produced by the collective amusements for external service.

An approach method of the semiotics theory is analyzing fashion: the look is that a sign represents one character and the image is interpreted as the destination of the changes. The fashion image interpretation by semiotics is possible because the fashion phenomenon by society has been accumulated in their abbreviation code. It is not possible to produce contradictions of the human imagination coined solution. The myth relieved to people, allowanced a meaning in the world and explained it have been unable to explain and protect us. Today's role of the world myth becomes the star's future. Public resting star's fashion image analysis promote that we understand the inherent desire. Madonna probably is one of the world's most famous women. To Create Madonna's own mythology staged image in various attire reveals symbolism. In this study, Madonna's fashion images, the myth 8 analysis of semiotics represent publicity. Madonna's album jacket 8 analysis of the myth. The fit and the relationship between the star and myths closely is obvious. The Madonna fashion image investigate that so forth implied myth into duality of feminine, upset of gender roles, upset of sexual roles, object of worship. In addition to the creation of these myths are based on sensuality heterosexual fashion images, body-conscious look, lingerie look, Androgynous Look, Dominatrix Look in the fashion style of the images, fashion items made to body suit, bra top, black panties, black boots, long gloves, pink, red, gold, satin, and leather; the addition, there are exaggerated props and accessories. These use such as the human body building wave blond hair. This study through Madonna's fashion image, semiotics analysis is acquainted with suitable means of myth.

By analyzing abstract book cover design, this study aims to examine the applicability of the semiotic methodology of Roland Barthes and to conduct a preference survey of how people would accept it. The selected books for the study are and published in Openbooks publishing company to mark the 30^th anniversary of the opening. The research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that Roland Barthes' semiotic approach is a suitable tool for identifying the symbolic phenomena of visual elements that constitute abstract book cover design. Second, people were well informed of what the abstract form of design conveys, but they showed personal differences in preference, making it difficult to achieve clear results. This study, together with the importance of the internal meaning that appears in the book cover design, gives graphic designers an indication that interaction between the communicator and the acceptor should be sought.

For the past few years, there has been active seeking of archival practices outside of public institutions. For example, there is oral history archive which has an actual field of its own, community archive, archives of everyday life, cultural resources archive, digital archive, and post-modern archive with its discourse practical character. In this reading, such flow is organized through everyday paradigm, and examines new archival methodology that is suitable for it. Through such critical mind, semiotic approach is taken and the need, direction and alternative of archival methodology is offered. Especially, archival methodology, which can be applied to archives is thoroughly observed. Also, the way how sign practices can be executed in the archival field is explained through specific examples. Of course, it is clearly stated that this is an instance, and that it is an archival methodology that can be applied to public institutions. We hope this would be a discuss that would enable a comprehensive understanding of records.

This study is designed to decode the persuasion strategies in the advertising targeted for children from a semiotic perspective. Semiotic approach to "decoding advertising text" allows us to classify advertising signs and sign systems in relation to the way they are transmitted and communicated. In this strategic process of advertising production, the producers use various "expressive techniques" and "persuasive appeals, premises, and ideology" shared by the members of the society. This study investigates Korean print media advertising for children with the following research questions: ① What types of expression techniques are employed in the print media advertising for children? ② What types of persuasive appeals(consumption values) are used in the print media advertising for children? ③ What are the persuasive premises(cultural premises) underlying those persuasive appeals? ④ What is the structure of ideology that governs those persuasive appeals and premises in the advertising for children? The study result reveals seven most frequently employed expressive techniques, ten major types of persuasive appeals and premises, and the structure of ideology governing the signs and signification systems in the advertising targeted for children.

Environmental design should be based on the positive theory, a researcher structured symbolic aesthetics on the basis of positive perception theory. Mathematics is constructed by many signs, and learning mathematics involves the understanding and uses of them. This study reflects mathematical signs and their meanings, and considers how they can be introduced in learning. For these, we first investigated epistemological positions as Piaget, Vygotsky, anthropology, and interactionism. And we investigated semiotic models that Saussure and Peirce built each. Among these we adopted Peirce' triadic model that is consisted of interpretant, object (referent), and represen tamen(sign). In mathematic learning process, representations are transformed by translations and meanings are growed to the representation of another sign. And the meaning of sign grows by learner's interpretation. In terms of theoretical grounds, we settled that the understanding of mathematical signs involved the understanding of their representations and their meanings. On the foundation of above contents, we searched how we introduced signs to students and there were methods that approached to students representationally or inquiringly.

In this study of the documentation process, a toddler's behavior was interpreted through use of text and picture both of which are subjective representations of reality. Two teachers deconstructed and reconstructed their knowledge of a photographed toddler by first referring to scientific theories from a text. They used these theories to analyze markings drawn on paper by the toddler in the photograph. But, the theories from the text were transformed into a new theory in the documentation process of reflecting on the history of markings in different contexts. Thus, the semiotics of pictures and texts changed in addition to change in meanings. This demonstrates the variability of signs, as in the concept of "rhizome" (Deleuze and Guattari, 1999).

The purpose of this study is to understand the feature and phenomena of women's costume in Choson dynasty by the approach of semiotics. In order to do so, F Saussure's linguistic symbol theory, C. Peirce's conception on semiology theory and cultural semiology of R. Barthes ware used as tool to analyse traditional women's costumes in $Chos\v{o}n$ dynasty. And I choose basic conceptions based on their semiotic theory. which were langue & parole. dennotation & connotation, paradigm & syntagm, code, and analysed. structure of sign, communication though the non-language. The fashion of the $Chos\v{o}n$ dynasty contains various meaning as sign symbol system and makes the communication possible as it is mentioned above. We nay understand the sign symbol system described in the fashion sign by analysing the structure and meaning operation of sign on the basis of social, political, and idealistic background of the times, to understand the polysemy quality of the fashion.
