Fabrication of $Al_2O_3/Al$ Composite Materials by Mashy State Forming and its Hot Extrusion Process (반용융가공에 의한 $Al_2O_3/Al$ 복합재료의 제조 및 열간압출공정)

  • A semi-solid alloy in which solid and liquid phase are co-existing is obtained by stirring of A17075 molten metal. A semi-solid alloy is dependent on the corresponding temperature within the solid-liquid range, and the process parameters should be controlled accurately to obtain the homogeneous semisolid alloy. The fabrication possibility of fiber-reinforced aluminum alloy containing $Al_2O_3$ short fibers with vigorous agitation of short fibers were obtained by control of stirring time, solid fraction and impeller speed in extrusion billet fabrication processes. The microstructure to extrusion billet fabricated by low pressure casting was investigated for fiber dispersion state. The relationship between the extrustion force and velocity at hot extrustion, the flow strain and extrusion ratio were theoretically described. The surface defects with lubricants and without lubricant after hot extrusion were investigated. The composites materials after hot extrusion were measured by vickers hardness with extrusion ratio. It has become clear that the secondary working such as hot extrusion was very useful to obtained improved the mechanical properties of metal matrix composites.

A Study on the Pharmacetical Characteristics & Analysis of Glycyrrhizin Extract (감초 추출물의 약리적 특성 및 분석)

  • From experiment results on pharmacetical characteristics and analysis of Glycyrrhizin extract, some conclusions are obtained as follows. From results on extract experiment of Glycyrrhizin, it appeared about 8%-extraction ratio as semi-solid state, and after dried in freezing from Glycyrrhizin extract of semi-solid state, it obtained about 70%-Glycyrrhizin extract as solid state of yellow gold color. From results on antimicrobial experiment of Glycyrrhizin extract, number of S-typhimurium and Fungus in microbe decreased more and more according to time passage. This phenomenon shows that Glycyrrhizin extract keeps antimicrobial effect. From results on antioxidation experiment of Glycyrrhizin extract, DPPH scavenging activity of free radical shows that Glycyrrhizin extract appears more remarkable reduction ability than reference samples. This phenomenon means that antioxidation of Glycyrrhizin extract appears higher than Vitamin-C and BHA. From results on instrument analysis, the fatty and aromatic components of 2-pentanone, cyclohexasiloxane, tetrasiloxane, benzoquinoline-2-carboxylic acid etcs from Glycyrrhizin extract was detected with GC/MS and inorganic components of Ca, Mg, Ti, Zn, Fe etcs from Glycyrrhizin extract was detected with ICP/OES.

  • Natural Artemisia extraction was extracted from Artemisia component using diethyl ether as a solvent, and we tested various pharmacetical and chemical characteristics of this extract. Characteristic experiments to use natural Artemisia extract tested antimicrobial experiment using microbe in pharmacetical material, and tested dye experiment using fiber in chemical material. From the result of characteristics experiment, some conclusions are obtained as follow. From the result of extraction experiment, it obtained about 10.4%-Artemisia extraction ratio as semi-solid state, and after dried in freezing from Artemisia extract of semi-solid state, it obtained about 10%-Artemisia extraction ratio as solid state of dark blue-green color. From result of antimicrobial experiment of Artemisia extract, number of staphylococcus aureus (ATCC-01) and aspergillus niger (ATCC-02) in microbe decreased more and more according to time passage. This phenomenon showed that Artemisia extract influences to antimicrobial effect. From the result of dye experiment of Artemisia extract, it appeared in direction of dark blue-green color after dyed to use cotton and silk with fiber to control in pH 7.5. Specially the result which confirmed dye of fiber with optical electron microscope (OEM), we could know that it appears darker silk than cotton.

  • From the result of pharmacetical characteristics and analysis of Green-tea extract, it could obtain some conclusions as follows. The extract experiment of Green-tea appeared about 10%-extraction ratio as semi-solid state, and after dried in freezing from Green-tea extract of semi-solid state, it obtained about 65% Green-tea extract as solid state. In the results on antimicrobial experiment of Green-tea extract, number of S-typhimurium and fungus in microbe decreased more and more according to the time passage. This phenomenon could show that Green-tea extract keeps antimicrobial effect.   • For material characterization of semi-solid materials, backward extrusion process, which has been used in forming of hollow-sectioned products, was analyzed by the upper bound analysis in the current study. The existing kinematically admissible velocity field was applied to steady state at which there was no change in the assumed regions of velocity field. For unsteady state, new velocity field, as a function of dead zone angle, was proposed. Through the whole analysis, fiction between die and workpiece was also considered. It has been studied how the process variables, such as friction factor and punch velocity, and material parameters, such as strength coefficient, strain rate sensitivity could affect on analysis results. Finally, by the comparison with the finite element analysis, the reliability and efficiency of the proposed velocity field were discussed.

  • Aluminum brazing needs normally careful control of temperatures due to little difference between brazing temperatures and melting temperatures of base materials. Unsuitable processing conditions such as brazing temperature, gap between brazed materials, inadequate feeding of flux, etc. can lead to occur joining defects. In this study, A357 was used as a filler metal for the brazing of pure aluminum base materials. A357 was brazed at temperatures in the semi-solid state. Interface microstructures with base materials were observed using OM and SEM/EDS and compared to conventional aluminum brazing.
