This study addresses the relationship between individual differences regarding self-concept, measured by Self Concept Clarity (SCC) scale and Relational-Interdependent Self-Construal and relationships (RISC) scale, and diverse affective consequences after choice behavior. We hypothesized that lower self-concept clarity and higher relational interdependence would be related to increased susceptibility to choice context-for example, how a choice set is constructed based on one's initial preference. We examined how variations in a choice set can produce different affective consequences after making choices, and investigated the underlying neural mechanism using fMRI. In this experiment, participants first rated their preferences for art posters, and made a series of choices from a presented set. After the choice task, they completed post-choice measures including preferences for the chosen posters, as well as measures of their self-concept clarity and relational interdependence. Our behavioral results demonstrated that when participants faced more conflicting choice context, self-concept clarity was related to more positive affective consequences after choice, whereas relational interdependence was correlated with a lower second-rated attractiveness of the chosen option. The neuroimaging analysis of choice-making revealed that self-concept clarity and the degree of their relational interdependence served as modulators in shaping how one perceives and experiences the same decision-making process. These results have theoretical and practical importance in that it is one of the first studies investigating the influence of the individual differences regarding self-concept on value-based decision making process among diverse choice set contexts.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of social stigma on psychosocial adjustment in out-of-school youth and the moderating effects of self-concept clarity on the relationship between social stigma and psychosocial adjustment. The subjects in this study were out-of-school youth who resided in the city of Busan, on whom a survey was conducted. The findings of the study were as follows: First, social stigma was found to have exercised a negative influence on self-concept clarity. Second, social stigma was found to have exercised a negative influence on psychosocial adjustment. Third, self-concept clarity was found to have exercised a negative influence on psychosocial adjustment. Fourth, self-concept clarity was found to have had moderating effects on the relationship between social stigma and psychosocial adjustment. This study is of significance in that it attempted to seek ways of improving the psychosocial adjustment of out-of-school youth and urged offering counseling intervention geared toward boosting self-concept clarity by analyzing the moderating effects of self-concept clarity on the relationship between social stigma and psychosocial adjustment.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between rejection sensitivity and reactive aggression among college students, as well as to determine the mediating effects of self-concept clarity and hostile attribution bias on the relationship between rejection sensitivity and reactive aggression. A self-report questionnaire was conducted online for the purpose of gathering data from university students aged 18 years and older. A total of 250 participants were included in the analysis. SPSS 27.0 was used for data analysis to check the basic statistics of the variables, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis. In addition, the model fit was checked using Amos 21.0, and the bootstrapping method verified the significance of the indirect effect. The results of this study are as follows. The results of this study are as follows. First, rejection sensitivity positively affects reactive aggression through self-concept clarity. Second, rejection sensitivity increases the hostile attribution bias, leading to an increase in reactive aggression. Third, rejection sensitivity positively influences reactive aggression in an indirect way by sequentially affecting self-concept clarity and hostile attribution bias. These findings have implications as they identify psychological factors that affect reactive aggression in college students. This suggests the importance of utilizing psychological interventions to address reactive aggression associated with social problems, such as crime, and provides a foundation for both treatment and prevention. Finally, implications for further research and limitations of this study are suggested.
The purpose of this study is to examine the factors leading resilience and to investigate the impact of the adaptive performance. The results are as follows: First, Cognitive Flexibility, Self Concept Clarity and Learning Goal Orientation were proved as antecedents predicted to resilience. Second, Cognitive Flexibility had positive effects on all sub variables on adaptive performance and Prove Goal Orientation had positive effects on some sub variables on adaptive performance such as problem solving, cope with uncertainty, cross cultural adaptability. Self Concept Clarity had positive effects on some sub variables on adaptive performance such as problem solving, handle crisis, cross cultural adaptability. Third, Resilience mediated the relationship between Cognitive Flexibility and Adaptive Performance(problem solving, handle crisis, cross cultural adaptability). The hypotheses of the mediation effect of resilience between Goal Orientation, Self Concept Clarity and Adaptive Performance were rejected. Lastly, this study emphasized and verified the importance of resilience in process of adaptive performance. Future studies should be looked for broad variety of resilience factors.
The present study examined how the psychological well-being of young adults was affected by the perceived parental rearing attitudes and how self-concept clarity and the perceptions of emerging adulthood mediated this causal relationship based on Arnett's the theory of emerging adulthood. We specially focused on affectionate or rejective types of perceived parental rearing attitudes and possibility or instability perceptions of emerging adulthood. We performed survey research with 358 university students from six universities located in Seoul, and other cities in South Korea and analyzed collected data using SPSS 25.0 and SPSS Macro. As a result, we found correlational relationships between psychological well-being of emerging adulthood and other variables. Also, we found the mediating effect of the self-concept clarity in the relationship between the psychological well-being and the perceived parental attitudes: affectionate, rejective. However, we only found the mediating effect of the perceived possibility perception of emerging adulthood was significant in the relationship between the psychological well-being and affectionate parental rearing attitudes. Finally, we found a sequential mediation effect that the self-concept clarity and then perceived instability perception of emerging adulthood affected in the relationship between psychological well-being and rejective parental rearing attitudes of emerging adulthood. Based on results, implications and suggestions for counseling service and psychological education for university students faced emerging adulthood were discussed.
As luxury goods market has expanded and has become more affordable, luxury consumption value has become more diversified. The purpose of this study is to classify visible characteristics of luxury consumption by the degree of logo clarity, and to explain this classification in relation to personal luxury consumption values. Also, the study utilized the concept of cultural capital, in addition to the concept of economic capital, in order to aid understanding of current new luxury consumption trend and give directions on brand signal strategies for luxury brands. In order to develop a survey that could measure an individual's cultural capital, focus group interviews, each composed of 5 women in their twenties and thirties, were conducted. Then, the survey was conducted on 230 females residing in Seoul who have purchased at least one product from a luxury brand within a year. The results suggest that luxury consumption can be explained by 'self-oriented value' and 'others-oriented value' as suggested in precedent studies. However, no significant difference was found between economic capital and these two luxury consumption values. However, the more cultural capital one possesses, the more one is likely to pursue 'self-oriented consumption value'. In studying the correlation between luxury consumption values and preference for brand signal clarity, respondents with 'self-oriented consumption value' has shown low preference towards highly visible brand logo when design and quality were equivalent. Also, respondents with 'other-oriented consumption value' has shown high preference towards highly visible brand logo.
The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of career barriers on college students majoring in culinary arts on career preparation behavior, and the moderating effect of self-efficacy between career barriers and career preparation behavior. For this purpose, the data was collected through a questionnaire survey from four hundred and eleven students majoring in culinary arts at colleges in South Korea. The data were analyzed by using factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical analysis with SPSS 18.0. The results are as follows. Among the career barriers, the lack of job information and lack of interest had a significant negative influence on information gathering behavior, although physical inferiority had a significant positive influence on information gathering behavior. The lack of self-concept clarity and lack of job information had a significant negative influence on practical efforts, while conflicts with important others and physical inferiority had a significant positive influence on practical efforts. In addition, the lack of self-concept clarity, lack of job information, and lack of interest had a significant negative influence on tool preparation behavior. Pysical inferiority had a significant positive influence on tool preparation behavior. Self-efficacy showed a partial moderating effect between the lack of job information and tool preparation behavior. Managerial implications and limitations were also discussed.

The purpose of this study is to develop the questionnaire on pre-service elementary teachers' recognition of self-understanding and change capacity for science education and to investigate their recognitions with it. At the beginning of the study, we made a tool to investigate the self-understanding and change capacity of pre-service elementary teachers through literature review and discussions. The former half of the questionnaire was related to self-understanding with factors such as 'self-concept clarity,' 'career identity' and 'self-efficacy:' 'self-understanding as a pre-service elementary teacher' (12 items) and 'self-understanding as a pre-service elementary science teacher' (12 items). Its latter half was about the change capacity with factors such as 'change sensitivity,' 'goal consciousness,' 'collaboration,' 'reflection,' and 'mastery.' It consisted of three parts: 'general change capacity,' 'change capacity as a pre-service elementary teacher' and 'change capacity as a pre-service elementary science teacher' with 17 items, respectively. With this tool, we surveyed 153 pre-service elementary teachers. The results are as follows: First, pre-service elementary teachers have a positive recognition about self-understanding and change capacity, but the recognition of self-understanding and change capacity as pre-service elementary science teachers were relatively less positive. Second, factors of self-understanding and change capacity as pre-service elementary science teachers have a significant correlation with each other. Especially, there was a high correlation between 'self-efficacy' of self-understanding and 'goal consciousness' and 'mastery' of change capacity. Based on these results, some implications for self-understanding and change capacity related to science education were discussed.
