  • This study considered the selection attributes of bakery consumers and schematized characteristic attributes of being selected by customers by image through a correspondence analysis in terms of own preferring bakery. Self-administrated questionnaires were completed by consumers (452 samples), and the data were analysed by frequency, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, reliability analysis and correspondence analysis. According to the survey results regarding the mean value on bakery selection attributes, it was shown to be in the order of taste ($4.73{\pm}0.70$), sanitation ($4.70{\pm}0.68$), service ($4.21{\pm}0.84$), price ($4.03{\pm}0.92$), consideration ($4.01{\pm}0.96$), communication ($4.01{\pm}0.96$), health ($3.99{\pm}0.98$), and location ($3.83{\pm}0.99$). In the analysis of difference with regard to the selection attributes according to the preferred bakery, both consideration ($4.05{\pm}0.90$) and communication ($3.98{\pm}0.93$) showed a high value in individual bakery, thereby presenting a significant difference (p<0.05). As a result of having carried out correspondence analysis in order to prepare an image map according to the preferred bakery, the selection attributes of employees' service and communication showed the closest image map to individual bakery. Location and sanitation were very close to franchise bakery. Further, other bakery shops were schematized in a relatively close distance to price.

  • Identifying the selection criteria of wedding planners, who are the main human resource that contribute to the overall satisfaction level of a wedding's preparation, can produce important data for the wedding industry as it faces a transition period. To develop a scale for wedding planner selection criteria, preliminary items were prepared based on in-depth interviews with an experienced wedding planner group and a comprehensive review of previous studies, such as studies on selection criteria in the wedding industry and service work similar to wedding planners and wedding planner selection criteria. The preliminary items were tested for content validity using a focus group interview, comprising people in the wedding industry, and were refined accordingly. Then, the definitive quantitative questionnaire items were developed after conducting a preliminary survey. The main survey for this study was conducted using the responses of 295 consumers taking an Internet questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and confirmatory factor analysis were adopted to develop the scale, which was tested for convergent validity and discriminant validity. This study is academically significant in that it developed a selection criteria scale tailored to wedding planners to address an area that has not been covered in previous studies. It is recommended that future studies conduct empirical analyses using the selection criteria developed in this study to compare influential variables that could affect behavior intention.

  • This study deals with six spa touristy places to analyze the similarity in image and selection factor recognition through multidimensional scaling method. The result is as following. First, as a result of analysis in the similarity in Image of the 6 touristy Spa places, each "Asan and Onyang" and "Suanbo and Ducksan" form different similar image groups. However, Yoosung does not share the similarity in Image that other Spa places own. Second, as a result of analysis of selection factors in the six touristy spa places, it is found out that there is no big difference in selection factors such as 'spa facility', 'a fee to use', and 'quality of service' in the six spa places. Yet, Onyang, Yoosung, Ducksan, and Suanbo spa reflect high selection factor as 'a recognized spa place' different from Asan and Dogo where the reflection of selection factor is low. Onyang, Yoosung, and Dogo regions reflect high selection factor as a 'Touristy destination' while Asan reflects low selection factor.

  • Purpose : Customers with loyalty are very important to hospitals for sustainable growth in their medical market. Individuals with loyalty are likely to visit same hospital repeatedly when they need medical services. This study was to identify factors associated with selection of specialty hospitals among customers with loyalty. Methods : The subjects of this study were 735 inpatients in 22 specialty hospitals in 6 designated fields(joints, spine, colorectal-anal, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology). Customer types classified as customers with high loyalty, neutral customers, and customers with low loyalty according to net promoter score(NPS). Factor analysis was conducted to classify 22 hospital selection factors into some similar properties. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to confirm the selection factors related to loyal customers. Findings : Most of specialty hospitals received high NPS of 8 points or higher in all the designated fields. Five factors associated with selection of specialty hospital are (1) hospital facilities and convenience, (2) trust in doctor and hospital, (3) rapidness of treatment, (4) hospital awareness, and (5) accessibility. As a result of logistic regression analysis, selection factors related to loyal customers were 'hospital facilities and convenience', 'trust in doctor and hospital' and 'rapidness of treatment'. Differences in the degree of importance of three selection factors by customer types appeared for each designated field. Practical Implications : This study confirms the high level of patient experience among inpatients of specialty hospitals. Factors associated with selection of hospital among inpatients with loyalty are 'facilities and convenience of hospitals', 'trust of doctor and hospital' and 'rapidness of treatment'. This study will be meaningful as basic data to systematically enhance the roles and functions of the health care system and to provide securing competitiveness according to designated fields in the management aspect of specialty hospitals.

  • Variable selection is one of the most crucial tasks in supervised learning, such as regression and classification. The best subset selection is straightforward and optimal but not practically applicable unless the number of predictors is small. In this article, we propose directly solving the best subset selection via the genetic algorithm (GA), a popular stochastic optimization algorithm based on the principle of Darwinian evolution. To further improve the variable selection performance, we propose to run multiple GA to solve the best subset selection and then synthesize the results, which we call ensemble GA (EGA). The EGA significantly improves variable selection performance. In addition, the proposed method is essentially the best subset selection and hence applicable to a variety of models with different selection criteria. We compare the proposed EGA to existing variable selection methods under various models, including linear regression, Poisson regression, and Cox regression for survival data. Both simulation and real data analysis demonstrate the promising performance of the proposed method.

  • This study aims to analyze the premium hamburger market, which has recently become popular, the effect of the importance of the customer selection attribute of premium hamburgers on customer satisfaction, and the effect of customer satisfaction on repurchase intention. Existing research has focused on the importance of the selection attributes of premium hamburgers. Quality, convenience, experience, and presentation visuals were selected as customer selection attributes. This study analyzed 158 customers who had purchased and tasted premium hamburgers. To verify reliability and validity, a confirmatory factor analysis and discriminant validity analysis were performed, and a path analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the quality, convenience, experience, and presentation visuals of premium hamburgers had a statistically significant effect on satisfaction. Moreover, satisfaction was verified to have a significant effect on repurchase intention. Customers' preference for premium burgers will continue to increase, thanks to the growth in national income, single-person families, and healthy food wellness. It was empirically proven that the selection attributes of premium burgers have a statistically significant effect on customer satisfaction and that satisfaction significantly affects repurchase intention. This study broadens the research horizon and has practical implications.

  • In this paper, we deal with developing a cost estimation relationships (CER) for Korean maneuverable weapons systems using historical production cost. To develop the CER, we collected the historical data of the production cost of four tanks and five armored vehicles. We also analyzed the Required Operational Capability (ROC) of the weapons systems and chose cost drivers that can compare operational capabilities of the weapons systems We used Forward selection, Backward selection, Stepwise Regression and $R^2$ selection as the cost drivers which have the greatest influence with the dependent variables. And we used Principle Component Regression, Robust Regression and Weighted Regression to deal with multicollinearity and outlier among the data to develop a more appropriate CER. As a result, we were able to develop a production cost CER for Korean maneuverable weapons systems that have the lowest cost errors. Thus, this research is meaningful in terms of developing a CER based on Korean original cost data without foreign data and these methods will contribute to developing a Korean cost analysis program in the future.

  • The purpose of variable selection techniques is to select a subset of relevant variables for a particular learning algorithm in order to improve the accuracy of prediction model and improve the efficiency of the model. We conduct an empirical analysis to evaluate and compare seven well-known variable selection techniques for multiple linear regression model, which is one of the most commonly used regression model in practice. The variable selection techniques we apply are forward selection, backward elimination, stepwise selection, genetic algorithm (GA), ridge regression, lasso (Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator) and elastic net. Based on the experiment with 49 regression data sets, it is found that GA resulted in the lowest error rates while lasso most significantly reduces the number of variables. In terms of computational efficiency, forward/backward elimination and lasso requires less time than the other techniques.
