  • The purpose of this study is to develop an analytic model which can describe the behavior or concrete compressive member strengthened by CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) with various cross-sectional shapes such as circular. square, and octagonal and various laminate angles. The failure criterion of laminated CFS is based on Tsai-Wu failure criterion. The stress strain model of confined concrete compressive member is based on an equation proposed by Mander. The effective lateral confining pressure is considered and modified according to various cross-sectional shapes. Octagonal cross-section shows the best results in the aspect of ductility, while circular does in compressive strengthening effects. In addition, [0/0/0/0] laminate in which the direction of fiber is parallel to the direction of principal stress shows the superior strength and ductility than other laminates. The analytic results show that strength and ductility of the analytic model depend on the cross-sectional shapes as well as the laminate angles.

  • This paper focuses on the investigation of three-dimensional (3D) warping effect on the stiffness constants of composite beams with closed section profiles. A finite element (FE) cross-sectional analysis is developed based on the Reissner's multifield variational principle. The 3D in-plane and out-of-plane warping displacements, and sectional stresses are approximated as linear functions of generalized sectional stress resultants at the global level and as FE shape functions at the local sectional level. The classical elastic couplings are taken into account which include transverse shear and Poisson deformation effects. A generalized Timoshenko level $6{\times}6$ stiffness matrix is computed for closed section composite beams with and without warping. The effect of neglecting the 3D warping on stiffness constants is shown to be significant indicating large errors as high as 93.3%.

  • This study was performed to analyze the fluid flow characteristics and the temperature distribution of the aquarium for fish breeding. In this study, the finite volume method and turbulence k-$\varepsilon$ model with the SIMPLE computational algorithm are used to study the water flow in the aquarium. The calculation parameters are the circulating flow rate and the basin depth, and the experiments were carried out for the water flow visualization This numerical analysis gives reasonable velocity distributions in good agreement with the experimental data. As the results of the three dimmentional simulations, the sectional mean velocity increased as the sectional mean temperature increases for constant basin depth, and the mean velocity increased more rapidly for small basin depth than that of large basin depth, The mean velocity and temperature can be expressed as the function of the circulating flow rates and the basin depth.

  • The finite element method was adopted to find out the natural frequencies of a sinusoidally tapered beam with simply supported boundary conditions. The parameters considered in the numerical analysis are the taper parameter, $\alpha$ ($\alpha$=0.0, 0.1, ~ , 2.0) and the sectional property parameters, m and n [(m, n):(0, 2), (1, 3), (2, 4)]. It is generally known that the results of the numerical analysis corresponding to each pair of sectional property parameters, (m, n) are represented by second order polynominals of $\alpha$ . The coefficients of a in the polynominals are determined by using the regression technique, which reveals small m in most cases of given sectional property parameters (m, n).

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results selected one somatotype. for the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body, there dimensional clothing shapes measured. and cross-sectional clothing shape obtained by the measurement was considered to be space wave form. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form, and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. • The seismic performance of structural walls subjected to the cyclic lateral loads are influenced by various factors, like sectional shape, aspect ratio, reinforcement ratio, arrangement of reinforcement, and axial load ratio etc. In this research, reinforced concrete structural walls with the T-shaped cross section were selected. The seismic performance of T-shaped wall was affected by the many (actors because T-shaped wall is irregular wall composed to two rectangular walls. Especially the seismic performance of T-shaped wall varies with the flange condition and the various factors including the flange condition were determined. Therefore, the objective of this study is to understand the factors to improve seismic performance of RC T-shaded tv using sectional analysis.

  • This study has conducted a computational analysis to find out about characteristics of heat flow emitted from power lines when the sectional form of electric power tunnel that adopts forced ventilation is shaped like a rectangular, arch or horseshoe. The result of analysis shows that the temperature in the vicinity of the power line peaked at $70^{\circ}C$ when the sectional form is a rectangular, which indicates it is less affected by ventilation than the form of an arch or horseshoe.

  • In this paper, vibration characteristics in terms of the airfoil cross-sectional shape was examined by using the EDISON co-rotational plane beam-transient analysis. Co-Rotational plane beam analysis is appropriate for large rotation and small strain. Assuming aircraft wing as a cantilevered beam, natural frequencies of each airfoil cross-sectional shape were estimated using VABS program and fast Fourier transformation(FFT). VABS conducts finite element analysis on the cross-section including the detailed geometry and material distribution to estimate the beam sectional properties. Under the same airfoil geometric configuration and material selection, variation of material induced difference in the deflection and natural frequencies. It was observed that variation of the natural frequency was dependent on variation of the airfoil shape and material.

  • This paper describes the statistical analysis method of predicting the ship resistance. The equation for the wavemaking resistance coefficient is derived as the principal dimensions and sectional area coefficients by using the wavemaking resistance theory and its regression coefficients are determined from the regression analysis of the resistance test results. The equation for the form factor is derived by purely regression analysis of the principal dimensions, sectional area coefficients and resistance test results. Also, it is shown that the wavemaking resistance can be minimize by varying the sectional area curve without changing the principal dimensions of the ship. This methods were applied to the resistance prediction of a bulk carrier. And the, the modified hull form with minimum wavemaking resistance was obtained and the reduction of effective power was confirmed by the resistance test.

  • Although the utilization of drone photogrammetry that can generate spatial information using ultra-high-resolution images is increasing in the civil engineering and construction fields, analysis of areas that can be used is insufficient. Therefore, this study attempted to determine how far drone photogrammetry can be used in the civil engineering and construction fields by applying a detailed analysis method. The status map and cross-sectional map were actually vectorized using drone photogrammetry outcomes, compared and analyzed with the results acquired in the field, and the qualitative aspects of traffic safety facilities were analyzed to determine their usability. As a result, the accuracy of the plane position using drone photogrammetry was reliable, but the height accuracy was difficult to trust. Accordingly, although there is a possibility of preparing a status map, the use of it in areas requiring high accuracy such as cross-sectional plans was limited, and it is believed that it can be used in the construction management field where qualitative analysis is conducted.
