The Signal Acquisition Algorithm for Ultra Wide-band Communication Systems (UWB 통신시스템에서 동기 획득 알고리즘)

  • Due to the extremely short pulse in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, the accurate synchronization acquisition method is very important for both high data-rate WPAN and low data-rate WPAN. In this paper, we propose the synchronization acquisition algorithm based on two-step signal search method to acquire the synchronization in the UWB multi-path channel. At the first step, the search window is divided by two and the window that has higher power is chosen as a next search window. This operation is repeated until the measure power of the search window is smaller than the threshold value. At the second step, we employ Linear Search algorithm to the search window obtained at the first step for fine search. The proposed algorithm is proved that the synchronization acquisition is faster than the parallel search algorithm and it shows good performance in environment of the SNR extreme changes by the simulation.

  • With considering center-biased characteristic, NTSS(New Three-Step Search Algorithm) can improve the performance of TSS(Three-Step Search Algorithm) which is one of the most popular fast block matching algorithms(BMA) to search a motion vector in a video sequence. Although NTSS has generally better Quality than TSS for a small motion sequence, it is hard to say that NTSS can provide better quality than TSS for a large motion sequence. It even deteriorates the quality to increase a search window size using NTSS. In order to address this drawback, this paper aims to develop a new adaptive window size-based three step search scheme, called AWTSS, which can improve quality at various window sizes in both the small and the large motion video sequences. In this scheme, the search window size is dynamically changed to improve coding efficiency according to the characteristic of motion vectors. AWTSS can improve the video quality more than 0.5dB in case of large motion with keeping the same quality in case of small motion.

Comparison and Analysis of Information Exchange Distributed Algorithm Performance Based on a Circular-Based Ship Collision Avoidance Model (원형 기반 선박 충돌 피항 모델에 기반한 정보 교환 분산알고리즘 성능 비교 분석)

  • This study compared and analyzed the performance of a distributed area search algorithm and a distributed probability search algorithm based on information exchange between ships. The distributed algorithm is a method that can search for an optimal avoidance route based on information exchange between ships. In the distributed area search algorithm, only a ship with the maximum cost reduction among neighboring ships has priority, so the next expected location can be changed. The distributed stochastic search algorithm allows a non-optimal value to be searched with a certain probability so that a new value can be searched. A circular-based ship collision avoidance model was used for the ship-to-ship collision avoidance experiment. The experimental method simulated the distributed area search algorithm and the distributed stochastic search algorithm while increasing the number of ships from 2 to 50 that were the same distance from the center of the circle. The calculation time required for each algorithm, sailing distance, and number of message exchanges were compared and analyzed. As a result of the experiment, the DSSA(Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm) recorded a 25%calculation time, 88% navigation distance, and 84% of number of message exchange rate compared to DLSA.

  • This paper introduces robust tracking algorithm for fast and erratic moving object. CAMSHIFT algorithm has less computation and efficient performance for object tracking. However, the method fails to track a object if it moves out of search window by fast velocity and/or large movement. The size of the search window in CAMSHIFT algorithm should be selected manually also. To solve these problems, we propose an efficient prediction technique for fast movement of object using Kalman Filter with automatic initial setting and variable configuration technique for search window. The proposed method is compared to the traditional CAMSHIFT algorithm for searching and tracking performance of objects on test image frames.

  • In this paper, the decrease multipoint search method and Its learning algorithm for optimum value computatlon method of object function Is proposed. Using this method, the number of evaluation point according to searching time can t)e reduced multipoint of the direct search method by applying the unlivarlate method. And the learning algorithm can reprat the same search method in a new established boundary by using the searched result. In order to Investigate the efficience of algorithm, this method this method is applied to Rosenbrock and Powell, Colvelle function that are Impossible or uncertain in traditional direct search method. And the result of application, the optimum value searching oil every function Is successful. Especially, the algorithm is certified as a good calculation method for producing global(absolute) optimum value.

Fast Detection of Forgery Image using Discrete Cosine Transform Four Step Search Algorithm

  • Recently, Photo editing softwares such as digital cameras, Paintshop Pro, and Photoshop digital can create counterfeit images easily. Various techniques for detection of tamper images or forgery images have been proposed in the literature. A form of digital forgery is copy-move image forgery. Copy-move is one of the forgeries and is used wherever you need to cover a part of the image to add or remove information. Copy-move image forgery refers to copying a specific area of an image itself and pasting it into another area of the same image. The purpose of copy-move image forgery detection is to detect the same or very similar region image within the original image. In this paper, we proposed fast detection of forgery image using four step search based on discrete cosine transform and a four step search algorithm using discrete cosine transform (FSSDCT). The computational complexity of our algorithm reduced 34.23 % than conventional DCT three step search algorithm (DCTTSS).

Quadrotor path planning using A* search algorithm and minimum snap trajectory generation

  • In this study, we propose a practical path planning method that combines the A* search algorithm and minimum snap trajectory generation. The A* search algorithm determines a set of waypoints to avoid collisions with surrounding obstacles from a starting to a destination point. Only essential waypoints (waypoints necessary to generate smooth trajectories) are extracted from the waypoints determined by the A* search algorithm, and an appropriate time between two adjacent waypoints is allocated. The waypoints so determined are connected by a smooth minimum snap trajectory, a dynamically executable trajectory for the quadrotor. If the generated trajectory is invalid, we methodically determine when intermediate waypoints are needed and how to insert the points to modify the trajectory. We verified the performance of the proposed method by various simulation experiments and a real-world experiment in a forested outdoor environment.

  • We study an degree of alternativeness and a survivability of alternate routing algorithm in mobile ad-hoc tactical communication networks. The common channel signaling scheme is used and flood search routing algorithm is used for analysis. We also study a connectivity performance for flood search routing, restricted flooding and hybrid routing. From the results we expect low blocking probabilities with alternate routing and the conventional flood search routing shows better connectivity performance which results in high survivability.

  • A block-based fast motion estimation algorithm is proposed in this paper to perform motion estimation based on the efficiently reduced search ranges in MPEG-4(ERS). This algorithm divides the search areas into several small search areas and the candidate small search area that has the lowest average of sum norm difference between current macroblock and candidate macroblock is chosen to perform block motion estimation using the Nobel Successive Elimination Algorithm (NSEA). Experimental results of the proposed algorithm show that the averaging PSNR improvement is better maximum 0.125 dB than other tested algorithms and bit saving effect is maximum 20kbps for some tested sequences in low-bit rate circumstance.

  • A line search algorithm to increase a convergence in Newton's method is developed and applied to nonlinear finite element analysis. The algorithm is based on the slack line search theory which is an efficient algorithm to determine initial acceleration coefficient, variable backtracking algorithm proposed by some researchers, and convergence criterion based on residual norm. Also, it is capable of avoiding exceptional diverging conditions. Developed program is tested in metal forming simulation such as forging and ring rolling. Numerical result shows the validity of the algorithm for a highly nonlinear system .
