탐구적 과학 글쓰기 활용 수업이 메타인지와 과학적 창의성에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Science Writing Heuristic Class on the Metacognition and Scientific Creativity)

  • This study explored the effect of using the inquiry-based science writing heuristic approach in class on metacognition and scientific creativity to enhance the ability of solving problems in science classrooms of elementary students. The results of this study were as follows. First, the science writing heuristic had a positive influence on the usage of metacognition necessary for learners to solve the problem with science. Second, the science writing heuristic contributed to the improvement of scientific creativity. In the process of inquiry-based approach, learners used scientific knowledge to come up with ideas and produce outcomes, therefore they could seek sanswers to scientific problems for themselves. Third, the science writing heuristic produced a positive awareness of science process skill because learners had more opportunities to think on their own than an existing passive class. In conclusion, this study found that the inquiry-based science writing heuristic approach encouraged learners to do inquiring activities in school classrooms, therefore contributing to the application of metacognition and the improvement of scientific creativity.

Thinking maps를 활용한 과학글쓰기가 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력 및 창의성에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Scientific Writing Program using Thinking maps on the Scientific Gifted Children's Scientific Process Skill and Creativity)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the science gifted children's Science Process Skiils and Creativity development by Scientific Writing Program using Thinking maps. To verify research problem, the subject of this study were third-grade students selected from two classes of an elementary scientific gifted students located in Ulsan : the search group is composed of twenty students who were participated in TScientific Writing Program using Thinking maps, and the other is composed of twenty students (comparison group) who were participated in teacher map based instruction in comparison group. Pro-test showed following results: First, the search group showed a significant improvement in the science process skills compared the comparison group. Second, the search group didn't showed a significant improvement in creativity compared in the comparison group. In conclusion, Scientific Writing Program using Thinking maps was more effective than teaching model using the teacher map on science process skill and creativity.

초등학생의 관찰 능력과 과학 창의성의 관계 분석 - 야외 식물 관찰 학습 사례를 중심으로 - (Relationship between the Observation Ability and Scientific Creativity of Elementary Students: Focus on Observation Learning of Outdoor Plants)

  • 본 연구는 야외 식물 관찰 학습에서 초등학생의 관찰 능력과 과학 창의성의 관계를 알아보고, 관찰능력과 과학 창의성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 알아보았다. 이를 위해 서울특별시 5학년 21명을 대상으로 야외 식물 관찰 학습을 시행했다. 관찰 과제를 통해 학생의 관찰 능력과 과학적 창의성을 평가하여 정량적 자료를 얻은 뒤, 식물 관찰에 대한 학생과의 면담을 통해 정성적 자료를 얻었다. 이외에도 연구자의 참여 관찰 기록, 학생의 활동 결과물 등 다양한 자료를 수집함으로써 연구의 타당성을 높이고자 했다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생을 관찰 능력과 과학 창의성 상·하 수준에 따라 HH(고관찰-고창의)형, HL(고관찰-저창의)형, LH(저관찰-고창의)형, LL(저관찰-저창의)형의 4개 집단으로 유형화한 결과 전체 학생 21명 중 HH형과 LL형에 속한 학생이 15명으로 관찰 능력이 높을수록 과학적 창의성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 관찰 능력과 과학 창의성은 정적인 상관관계를 보였으며. 특히 과학 창의성 요소 중 독창성과도 관찰 능력과 약한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 셋째, 야외 식물 관찰 학습에서 초등학생의 관찰 능력에 영향을 미치는 요인은 평상시 식물 관찰 빈도와 식물 관찰 학습에 대한 흥미, 식물 관찰 학습에서의 협력이었다. 넷째, 야외 식물 관찰 학습에서 과학 창의성에 영향을 미치는 요인은 관찰 능력과 식물 관련 지식의 양임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로, 본 연구는 관찰 능력과 과학 창의성을 향상시키기 위한 교육적 방법에 대해 논의하였다.

초등 과학영재 학생의 과학 학업 열정 및 과학 긍정 경험과 과학적 창의성의 관계 (Relationship between Science Academic Passion, Positive Experience about Science and Scientific Creativity in Elementary Science-Gifted Students)

  • 이 연구에서는 초등 과학영재 학생의 과학 학업 열정 및 과학 긍정 경험과 과학적 창의성의 관계를 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 초등 3~6학년 과학영재 학생 108명을 선정하여 과학 학업 열정 검사, 과학 긍정경험 검사, 과학적 창의성 검사를 실시한 뒤, 기술통계분석과 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 연구 대상 초등 과학영재 학생의 과학 학업 열정과 과학 긍정 경험은 비교적 높은 수준이었지만, 과학적 창의성은 비교적 높지 않은 수준이었다. 과학 학업 열정 전체는 과학적 창의성과 통계적으로 유의미한 상관이 없었지만, 5가지 하위 영역(중요함, 좋아함, 시간/에너지 투자, 조화열정, 강박열정) 중 '강박열정'에서는 과학적 창의성과 통계적으로 유의미한 부적 상관이 있었다. 또한 과학 학업 열정의 5가지 하위 영역, 특히 '좋아함', '조화열정', '강박열정'은 과학적 창의성에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 과학 긍정 경험의 5가지 하위 영역(과학 학습 정서, 과학 관련 자아개념, 과학 학습 동기, 과학 관련 진로 포부, 과학 관련 태도)은 과학적 창의성과 통계적으로 유의미한 상관이 없었을 뿐만 아니라, 과학적 창의성에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 또한 과학 학업 열정 전체와 과학 긍정 경험 전체는 과학적 창의성에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향력이 없었다. 이러한 결과에 대한 교육적 시사점을 논하였다.

'얼음' 프로젝트가 유아의 과학적 능력, 수학적 능력, 창의성에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of 'Ice' Project Activities on Young Children's Scientific Abilities, Mathematical Abilities, and Creativity)

  • Objective: The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of an 'Ice' project, a topic chosen based on children's interests to discover the improvement of scientific and mathematical abilities, and creativity of four-year-old children. Methods: For this research, 34 four-year-old children from M childcare center were selected. Seventeen children were placed in the experimental group and the remaining 17 children were placed in the comparison group. After the project was completed, to observe the differences between the two groups, the Mann-Whitney U test was conducted. Results: First, the 'Ice' project had an effect on improving children's scientific abilities and its subfactors. Second, the 'Ice' project hadsignificant effects on improving children's algebraic and geometric mathematical skills. Third, excluding the resistance to premature closure among the subfactors of creativity, the 'Ice' project contributed to improve children's creativity and all sub-factors. Conclusion/Implications: The 'Ice' project activities, a subject chosen from the interests of children, led active play participation from children and brought positive effects in immersion of play and activity. Such effects proved to affect children's scientific abilities, mathematical abilities, and creativity, and suggest this research can be used as base line data in follow-up research on various project activities.

학생, 교사 및 학부모의 과학 창의성에 대한 대립적 관점 조사 (Investigating Students, Teachers, and Parents' Recognition of Contrary Views on Scientific Creativity)

  • 본 연구는 과학 창의성에 대한 인식이 교사와 학부모, 학생들 간에 다를 수 있고, 이러한 관점의 차이는 실제 과학 창의성을 지도하고 격려하는데, 또 계발하는데 영향을 준다고 보았다. 이에 과학 창의성의 특성에 대한 교사들의 자유응답과 문헌조사를 바탕으로, 과학 창의성에 대한 대립적 관점 16개 항목을 추출한 후, 초중등 학생, 예비교사(사범대학생), 초중등 교사, 학부모 652명을 대상으로 16개 항목에 각각 동의하는 정도를 설문조사하였다. 조사결과, 모든 항목에서 대상자의 1/4 이상이 기존의 문헌에서 나타나는 과학 창의성에 대한 관점과 다른 관점을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 기존의 관점과 다른 관점을 가진 대상자가 특별히 많은 경우가 무엇인지 알 수 있었고, 대상자들 간에도 서로 대립되는 관점을 가진 두 그룹으로 나누어지는 항목들이 무엇인지 알 수 있었다. 이로부터 대상자들의 관점이 과학 창의성의 지도와 격려 및 계발에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 대해서 논의하고, 앞으로 필요한 연구를 제안하였다.

인지적 영역 중심의 뇌기반 진화적 접근법을 적용한 초등 과학 수업에서 학생들의 과학 창의성 분석 (Analyses of Elementary School Students' Scientific Creativity in Cognitive Domain by Applying a Brain-Based Evolutionary Approach to Science Instruction)

  • A brain-based evolutionary approach developed by reflecting the brain functions and authentic science is consisted of Affective, Behavioral, and Cognitive domains, and within each domain the processes of Diversifying, Evaluating, and Furthering are proceeded (ABC-DEF). Two core components of creativity of originality and usefulness are inherent in each step. So, this study analyzed scientific creativity with the originality and usefulness components in cognitive domain, which is composed of diversifying the meanings inherent in the results of observations or experiments (C-D), evaluating the meanings (C-E), and furthering (C-F) in learning of 'World of Plants' unit which includes two topics of 'Plants on Land' and 'Plants in Water and Special Environment'. A total of 20 fourth grade students at Y elementary school in Gyeonggi province participated in the study. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the scientific creativity in step C-D (Diversifying stage) was assessed according to the scientific creativity assessment formula. The scores of scientific creativity were quite different with topics and showed different pattern in the originality and usefulness components. Second, when the students compare and evaluate the values of each meaning (C-E stage), they weighed more on usefulness than originality, such as "because it is useful" or "because it solve many everyday problems". Third, the overall scores of scientific creativity in step C-F (Furthering stage), as compared with those of step C-D, were low and showed decrease in the average scores of originality from 9.8 to 7.5 points, whereas increase in the average scores of usefulness from 5.4 to 6.1 points. In conclusion, these results showed that, even though the levels were not so high, the students, as scientists, can exhibit the scientific creativity in the processes of diversifying, comparing and evaluating, and applying the meanings about the results obtained by observations or experiments. The specific and various strategies to help students express their potential scientific creativity more effectively need to be developed.

초등과학영재학생의 과학창의성에 대한 자기 평가, 교사 평가, 객관적 평가의 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of Student Self-, Teacher-, and Objective Assessments of Elementary Science-Gifted Students' Scientific Creativity)

  • This study aims to compare student self-, teacher-, and objective assessments of elementary science-gifted students' scientific creativity. A science-gifted program on the topic of Hydraulic Machine was implemented to 40 fifth-graders in the Science-Gifted Education Center of an education office in Seoul, Korea for four weeks. The products of the students' activities were assessed by three types of 'Student Self-Assesment', 'Teacher-Assesment', and 'Objective Assessment using Formula'. Based on two essential components of creativity, the scientific creativity is divided into two parts of originality and usefulness. Ideas that satisfy both components can be counted as scientifically creative. The main results of this study are as follows: First, the scores of each week and the average of the overall four-week scores on scientific creativity were significantly correlated. Student self-assessment (r=.687), teacher-assessment (r=.715), and objective assessment (r=.724) appeared consistently over instructional periods. Second, the average scores of student self-, objective, and teacher-assessments were 73.15, 35.72, and 26.60, respectively. The result of student self-assessment on scientific creativity tended to be higher than those of formula and teacher. Third, among the three types of assessment on scientific creativity, a strong correlation appeared between teacher- and objective assessment (r=.974), but neither between student self- and objective (r=.161) nor between student self- and teacher- (r=.213). Fourth, the scores on originality component had a positive correlation between teacher- and objective assessment (r=.713). The scores of student self- and teacher-assessments had a significant correlation too (r=.315), but not between student self- and objective assessment (r=.279). Fifth, the scores on usefulness component did not have a significant correlation between student self- and teacher-assessment (r=.155). Sixth, there was no significant difference on scientific creativity between student self- and objective assessment [${\chi}^2$(1, n=40)=1.667, p<.197]. Not between student self- and teacher-assessment either [${\chi}^2$(1, n=40)=1.616, p<.204]. On the contrary, there was a significant difference between teacher- and objective assessment [${\chi}^2$(1, n=40)=32.593, p<.000]. Seventh, the students were categorized into four groups according to the levels of their scores by student self- and teacher-assessment. The result showed that factors influencing student self-assessment are inherent in the personality traits of gifted individuals, such as self-esteem and perfectionism. The findings suggested that there are challenges for the educators to make efforts to construct consistent assessment methods for scientific creativity.

만 5세 유아의 창의성 및 과학적 탐구능력을 위한 예술·과학 융합프로그램의 효과 (The Effects of a Convergent Arts and Science Program on Young Children's Creativity and Scientific Inquiry)

  • This study aimed to develop a convergent arts and science program for 5yearold children and to evaluate this effectiveness of the program. To meet the purpose of this study, 34 children (aged, 5 year) were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. To the experimental group, the creative arts and science convergence program of interest in this study was delivered over a period of 8 weeks. The children of the control group were delivered the Nuri Curriculum (standardized educational curriculum targeted for 3- to 5year olds) during the same experimental period. The levels of the children's creativity were assessed using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking-Figural and those of their scientific inquiry ability were tested by using the Scientific Inquiry Ability Assessment Scale. The analysis of covariance calculated using by IBM SPSS ver. 21.0 revealed that the experimental group scored higher in creativity and scientific inquiry than did the control group. The results indicated that the proposed convergent arts and science program was effective in promoting creativity and scientific inquiry ability of young children. In this paper, along with the main results of this study, the implications for research and practice are discussed.

과학적 창의성 지도를 위한 활동자료의 개발과 유형 분석 (Development and Analysis of Various Activity Types for Teaching Scientific Creativity)

  • 본 연구는 과학 창의성 지도를 위한 자료를 개발하고 특징을 구체적으로 소개하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 5개 영역에서 80여개의 자료를 개발하였다. 개발된 자료의 특징으로는, 다양한 영역을 포괄하였고, 활동마다 창의성 요소가 명시되어 있으며, 창의적 활동을 위해 사고하는 방법과 활동결과 예시를 제시한 데 있다. 또 개발된 자료는 목적과 상황에 따라 변형할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 창의적인 활동을 위한 사고방법을 유형별로 구분하여 정리함으로서 다른 창의성 활동에서 도 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 개발된 자료에 대해 교사들이 살펴본 후, 교사들은 창의성 자료로 적절하며, 앞으로 과학 창의성 지도에 활용하고자 하였으며, 장점과 단점, 그리고 보다 효과적으로 활용되기 위한 제언들을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 개발된 자료의 다양한 활용방안을 제안하였다.
