국내 두경부암환자를 대상으로 한 간호연구 측정변수에 대한 고찰 (A Review on the Measurement Variables of Nursing Research for Patients with Head and Neck Cancer in Korea)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper (a literature review study) was to confirm the trend of nursing research for head and neck cancer patients in Korea. Methods: Research databases were reviewed and analyzed from 13 papers (2004 through 2019 using KISS, NDSL, RISS, DBpia, and the National Assembly Library. As a result of this paper, we found that there were many studies that used questionnaires. Results: Measurement variables related to head and neck cancer patients were physical variables related to oral condition, psychological variables related to depression and anxiety, social support, family support related to family, and quality of life as a result variable. Conclusion: Therefore, integrated nursing intervention strategies and clinical nursing research considering the physical, psychological, social, and family aspects of head and neck cancer patients are needed. Based on the results of this study, we propose qualitative research on head and neck cancer patients, development of educational programs, intervention studies to verify effects, and development of clinical practice guidelines.

사례기반학습법을 적용한 수업이 간호대학생의 학습동기와 학습만족도에 미치는 효과 - 인체생리학 수업을 중심으로 (The Effects of Case-Based Learning (CBL) on Learning Motivation and Learning Satisfaction of Nursing Students in a Human Physiology Course)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of case-based learning (CBL) on learning motivation and learning satisfaction of nursing students in a human physiology course. Methods: The development and application of CBL scenarios was conducted from February to June, 2013. Nursing students (n=142) who registered for a human physiology course were assigned into either a control or CLB group. The control group received traditional lectures for 14 weeks. The CBL group received the same 14-week lectures and an additional 5 CBL sessions. The learning motivation and satisfaction were measured by questionnaires at the beginning and the end of the semester. Seven students in the CBL group were randomly selected for a focus-group interview. Quantitative data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$-test and t-test, and qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. Results: The learning motivation and learning satisfaction were not significantly different between the two groups. However, 59% of the CBL group answered with a positive impression on the CBL approach as it helped them to feel a sense of achievement, excitement, to form their identity as nursing students, and so on. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the CBL could be a challenging but useful learning method in a physiology course for nursing students. Further studies with guidance, such as instructors' questions and feedback design are needed to utilize CBL more effectively.

간호대학생의 기관절개관 관리에 대한 지식, 술기 및 지각된 수행정도와의 관계 (The relationship among nursing student's knowledge, nursing skill and perceived performance of tracheostomy care)

  • 본 연구는 졸업학년 간호대학생의 지식, 간호술기, 지각된 수행 정도를 알아보기 위해 시행되었다. 핵심간호술기 checklist와 질문지를 이용하여 D광역시 졸업학년 간호대학생 90명을 대상으로 2014년 9월 4일부터 2014년 9월 22일까지 시행하였고, SPSS/WIN 23.0을 이용하여 기술분석, 상관관계분석을 하였다. 연구결과 손 씻기 지식은 간호술기, 지각된 수행 정도와 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 간호술기에서 손 씻기가 가장 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 가장 수행이 잘 되는 항목은 [내관을 과산화수소수 용액 (과산화수소수: 생리식염수=1:2)에 담가놓는다]로 멸균제품과 환자로부터 오염된 제품을 제거하는 부분인 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 멸균과 손 씻기 등의 감염에 대한 지식이 행위로 이어지도록 구체적 동기와 인지를 유발하는 경험적 학습이 요구된다.

간호대학생의 생명의료윤리 의식과 간호전문직관과의 관계 (Relationship between Consciousness of Biomedical Ethics and Nursing Professional Values in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose. This study purposed to examine consciousness of biomedical ethics and nursing professional values in nursing students. In addition, by identifying the relationship between consciousness of biomedical ethics and their nursing professional values. Methods. We collected data from 184 nursing students using a structured questionnaire, which were constructed to include Consciousness of biomedical ethics and Nursing professional values. The collected data was analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients with SPSS 20.0 Results. Average score for consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students was $2.92{\pm}.16$ and that of nursing professional values was $3.61{\pm}.34$. Among the sub-areas of consciousness of biomedical ethics, right to life of newborn was highest. In addition, among the sub-area of nursing professional values, The roles of nursing service was highest. A statistically significant positive correlation was observed between consciousness of biomedical ethics and their nursing professional values in nursing students. Conclusion. The results of this study indicate that it is necessary to increase the consciousness of biomedical ethics and to encourage nursing professional values.

Transitional Care for Older Adults with Chronic Illnesses as a Vulnerable Population: Theoretical Framework and Future Directions in Nursing

  • Purpose: Effective transitional care is needed to improve the quality of life in older adult patients with chronic illness and avoid discontinuity of care and adverse events. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the key features, broader implications, and the utility of Meleis' transition theory intended for the transitional care of older adults with chronic illnesses. We present the role of nurse in the context of transitional care and propose future directions to increase the quality of nursing care. Methods: The online databases Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, MEDLINE, and Science Direct were searched for relevant literature published since 1970 along with textbooks regarding nursing theory. Results: An evaluation of the usefulness of transition theory based on transitional care in older adult patients with chronic illnesses is provided. Healthy transition should be the expected standard of nursing care for older adults across all healthcare settings. Conclusion: Nurses need to contribute to the development of transitional care for vulnerable populations; however, transition theory needs to be enhanced through additional theoretical work and repeated evaluations of the applicability in areas of transitional care.

간호사에서 교수로의 역할적응 경험 (Experience of Role Adaptation from Nurse to Member of the Nursing Faculty)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to evaluate the experience of role adaptation from nurse to member of the nursing faculty. Methods: Data were collected from 13 members of a nursing faculty through in-depth interviews. The main question asked was "Could you describe your experience from being a nurse to becoming a member of the nursing faculty?" Qualitative data from the field and transcribed notes were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory methodology. Results: The core experiential category of role adaptation from nurse to member of the nursing faculty was 'striving for survival from culture shock'. The participants used the following three interactional strategies: 'recognizing everything and entering the school environment', 'self-reflection on being a professor and integration of experiences', and 'finding a way of adapting'. Conclusion: The participants tried to adapt to life as a professor and reflected on and integrated their experiences into their new life on the faculty. College faculty need to understand the impact of changes and challenges faced by new professors during role adaptation and to support this adaptation through mentorship and organized orientation programs.

비판적 사고 성향과 기초간호과학 간의 관계 (The Relationship between Critical Thinking Disposition and Basic Nursing Science)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study to investigate the Critical Thinking disposition in Nursing College students and related to ability of basic nursing science. Methods : Data were collected from 36 students who were students belong to one of province University. The instrument used in this study was California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory(CCTDI) by Facione & Facione. The instrument was composed of 7 sub-items, truth-seeking, analyticity, systematicity, open-mindness, critical thinking, self-confidence, inquisitiveness, and maturity. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlations with SPSS 12.0. Results : The result of this study were as follow; The average of total score in critical thinking disposition was 44.8, which means middle level(below 40: low, above 50: high level). Maturity was the highest while open-mindness was the lowest with an average score 5.01. There was significant difference between critical thinking and basic nursing science grade while there was no difference between age, gender, and religion. There was strongly relation between critical thinking disposition and basic nursing science(F=2.84, p=.01). Conclusion : According to the results of this study, nursing curriculum should be considered critical thinking disposition.

임상간호사의 노인간호수행에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Geriatric Nursing Performance among Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: This descriptive research study is intended to develop practical strategies for enhancing the quality of elderly care by evaluating the levels of ageism and compassion competence among clinical nurses and their impact on geriatric nursing performance. Methods: This study involved 162 nurses who provided direct care to elderly patients in a department with many such patients. Of the 161 returned questionnaires, 150 were analyzed, excluding 11 that had insincere or missing responses. To analyze the data, a comprehensive approach was employed using the IBM SPSS 27.0 program that included calculations of frequency and percentage, mean, and standard deviation, as well as more complex statistical tests such as the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical linear regression analysis. Results: Compassion competence was significantly positively correlated with elderly care and negatively correlated with ageism. This study conclusively demonstrates that compassion competence among nurses in geriatric nursing situations plays a crucial role in provision of quality nursing grounded in understanding and respect for the elderly. Consequently, it is imperative to develop educational strategies tailored to each career stage of nursing practice to further enhance effective elderly care. 학제개편 간호대학생들의 4학년 진학경험 (Experiences of Students of Nursing College in Transition From a Three-year to a Four-year Nursing Education System)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences of nursing college students who are now pursuing a bachelor degree of nursing at a three year nursing school. Method: The study employs a Qualitative research method. For this study 19 nursing students of a reformed nursing college were interviewed. All of them are now taking the fourth-year classes. Results: The experiences of the interviewees are categorized into the following five themes: 1) Education reform news that could make the bachelor degree happen; 2) Relaxed but uncomfortably long winter break; 3) Looking forward to the fourth year of nursing education; 4) Facing the fourth year and possible double classes; and 5) Unregrettable choice. The study found that the students are putting their best effort forward for the fourth-year classes in a hope that the bachelor degree could rebuild their self-esteem and self-identity as a full-member of the nursing profession. They also hope that the existing societal prejudice and differential treatments toward them will disappear in future nursing practices. Conclusion: This study concludes with some practical implications for nursing education for reformed nursing schools.
