The subjects were 495 fifth and sixth graders from 10 primary schools located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurement were the savoring test, the happiness test and the optimism test. The collected data was analyzed using the i-STATistics program(Kim & Baker, 2012). The study results were as followings: First, female students had higher scores than male students in the savoring test, the happiness test and the optimism test. And there were significant gender differences in savoring, happiness and optimism. Second, there was a significantly positive correlation between savoring and happiness(home environment, self-attributes, abilities, and interpersonal relationships) at the level of p<0.001. And the regression analysis result showed that savoring contains explanatory power of 60.70% for happiness. Third, there was a significantly positive correlation between savoring and optimism(expectations for the future) at the level of p<0.001. And the regression analysis result showed that savoring contains explanatory power of 66.51% for optimism. The result of this study shows that savoring has a high correlation to happiness and optimism. Happiness and optimism of children can be enhanced by increasing savoring. Therefore, the development and verification of savoring program for children is required.

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate factors affecting health risk behavior, oral health related quality of life (OHIP-14) and happiness in soldiers. Methods: Data were collected from Gangwon and Chungchong provinces from the first to the $15^{th}$ of October, 2016. Excluding five copies with incomplete answers, 203 copies of the questionnaire were were analyzed. Health risk behaviors (drinking and smoking), perceived oral health, OHIP-14 and happiness were measured. The data were analyzed with a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. Results: The amount of daily cigarette consumption of soldiers (66 people) was an average of 10.11 cigarette. The mean of OHIP-14 and that of happiness were 4.43 and 4.05, respectively. The higher the quality perceived oral health, the better the OHIP-14 (r=0.234) and happiness (r=0.192) were. The higher the OHIP-14, the higher the happiness (r=0.357). OHIP-14 was related to army, perceived oral health and happiness. The explanatory power of the model was 17.0%. Conclusions: OHIP-14 is associated with happiness. • The purpose of this study is to examine longitudinal impacts of various factors on happiness in primary school children. Specifically, attachment theory and ecosystems perspective were utilized for the purpose of this study. We used Korea Youth Panel Survey, which is a 5-year longitudinal data collected from fourth grade in elementary school to second grade in middle school Latent growth model was employed as the analytic method. The findings of this study are as follow: first, academic achievement, self-esteem, parent attachment, peer attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment all decreased over the 5-year study period. Also, the intercept and the slope variance of variables were found to be statistically significant. This means that there are significant differences in the intercept and the slope of individuals. Second, self-esteem, parent attachment, and peer attachment were found to have cross-sectional influences on happiness. This means that self-esteem, parent attachment, and peer attachment are positively associated with happiness at the intercept. Also, self-esteem, parent attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment were found to have longitudinal influences on happiness. This means that the higher levels of community attachment at the intercept is associated with slower the rate of decrease in happiness at the slope. In addition, faster rates of decrease in self-esteem, parent attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment are associated with faster the rate of decrease in happiness. Third, this study conducted multiple group analysis with gender. The findings of this analysis revealed no significant differences in analytic models between males and females. Based on these findings, theoretical and practice implications with regard to happiness in primary school children are discussed.
