The knowledge-based society needs creative and active knowledge workers. To meet the need of this modern society, Korea education begins to focus on reading ability of students and project-based school education. The 7th School Education Program requires performance evaluation, optional activites, and extracurricular activites and the school library is a necessary facility for these educational activities. Ministry of Education of Korea made a master plan to rebuild the school library for The 7th School Education Program. The master plan includes the assistance for the school library facility, school library materials, budget, the library staff. And also the master plan includes promotion for school education in the library to develop the school library as the center of school education.

This study aims to investigate and analyze the current status of user education and the school library staffs' perceptions in elementary school libraries in Gyeongnam, and then to propose a plan to improve user education in school libraries. Among the 168 school libraries in the Gyeongsangnam-do where librarians are deployed, 120 that responded to the survey were selected as research subjects. The contents of the study include the contents and methods of user education, the status of librarian education for user education, school library staffs understanding and interest in user education, school library staffs' perceptions of the necessity and effectiveness of user education, and school library staffs' efforts to strengthen capacity of user education. Based on the current status of user education and the results of the school library staffs' perceptions survey, the following are proposed as a way to improve user education of the school library: 1) expanding librarian education opportunities for user education, 2) development and distribution of educational materials that diversify the content and level of each grade, 3) organizing normal school hours for user education, 4) continuous efforts to strengthen capacity for user education.

This study presents the discourse for academic generation of 'School Library Education Science' based on integrative research between library & information science and education science. The study discusses research fields and themes of 'School Library Education Science' as the base to define the roles of the school library and of teacher-librarians. It contributes to upgrading the research level of the school library. The research field in the school library analyzes and integrates both aspects of library & information science and of education science. The developed theories of 'School Library Education Science' present Library-Based Education and Library-Based Learning, Base Connectionism, Base Integrationism, Top456 Approach, Curriculum-Based Approach, Viewpoint Approach, and Education of Information and the Library as a Subject Matter. The trends in research of the school library analyze the thesis numbers of academic journals. The future research challenges of 'School Library Education Science' discuss the educational basics of the school library, operational management, electronic school libraries, and educational activities. Conclusively, this study analyzes the current situation of the school library & of teacher-librarians in Korea, and provides its solution by the aspects of 'School Library Education Science'.

The purpose of this study is to explore ways for boosting reading education at school. Research object is research and practice activities of 'Society for School Library' at Gyeongnam area. Research method is case study. Data for this study were collected by interview with 'Society for school library' members through half structured survey, their documents and homepage site database. The results of analyzing the activities of 'Society for School Library' were explored reading education's outcomes and prospects that performed impassionedly by them. It suggests ways for boosting of reading education at school that under any circumstances reading education at school must connect with school library and the necessity of ties and collaborations with organizations inside and outside of school.

In the society of lifelong learning, a school library has to play an important educational role in improving self-directed learning ability that school education is seeking. The purpose of this study is to guide the design and operation of maker education programs in school library and to spread them by sharing the maker education program case. For this purpose, we explained the case of maker education of Daegu S high school library and analyzed its significance in terms of users in quantitative and qualitative way. In order to analyze the user's perception of the image and self-efficacy of capacity building of school library maker education, we compared it with the perception of existing school library education programs. In addition, we analyzed whether there is a statistically significant difference in the perception of the maker education according to the grade of the student and the experience of the maker education. The perception of school library maker education was not more positive than the existing school library education program. However, it is noteworthy that students who experienced school library maker education showed a positive image and high level of perception of the self-efficacy of capacity building in both existing school library education and manufacturing education compared to those who did not. These results suggest that school library maker education can improve the overall image of school library education and raise perception of the self-efficacy of capacity building. We hope that this study will contribute to activate school library maker education.

According to the new multi-media appeared as a result of rapid growth of the information and science technique, the school library must be changed to the integration of the teach-study media resource from the existing print media. It means that the school library has to play a role of the study center with a different media from the existing teaching material, teaching instrument, facility and opportunity. The Information education must be conducted in the way of an integrated education course and able to do both information transaction and problem settlement. The education facility to solve this problem is the school library. Therefore, the school library becomes important more and more. It means that the school library is the center of entire study and education material for the teacher and student is focused on it. It is urgent to make the standard of the school library In order to cope with the new education and information environments. And especially it is very important to make a plan about the location and scale of the school library to improve the quality of the children's studying activity. The location of the school library is decided under consideration of the relationship with other room of school house and the proper scale of it is between 2.5units and 7.0units of classroom based on the number of class.

The school library standards. a guideline encouraging the reasonable library administration for school education that began with early quantity in 1920, has been changed as an information power in 1988 after 7th revision. The school library is highlighted as a gear of education process and the center of education change. The major summary is as follows: First. the name of librarian has been changed from teacher's librarian to school library media specialist that executes as a leader for participating in plan. performance and development of instruction. Second. the type of material has been changed from book to electronic media. Also, the number of book per capital has been increased from 6-8(1920) to 23-28(1988) Finally, the function of school library has been changed from space service into proactive service which is playing the role of the heart of school education process based on information skill.

The purpose of this study is to survey the real user educations which are practiced at school libraries in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeongi provinces, to analyze them, and to propose the efficient methods for user education in school libraries. The results of this study are like these: 1) Teacher librarians have to be placed in every school library. 2) Teacher librarians have to develop the education contents for library user education. 3) School libraries ought to be supported by education authorities and school directors. 4) School libraries should practice the user education based on the regular school curriculum. It's thought that it's important to solve the problems like these: teacher librarians' disposition, and the attentions of school directors, students, teachers, and parents, the development of education contents, and the having plenty time for user education.

The purpose of this study is to suggest present issues and problems in producing educational performance of school library and to manage school library education ordinarily. For this purpose, after searching the principle and main policies related to school library education, we analyzed the previous researches concerned with behaviors and outcomes of school library education. As the results, professional development of human resources, curriculum improvement, modification of promotion and supporting system, and the amendment related to principles are established as political goals before suggesting progress direction and better method.
