Microstrip patch antennas are analyzed by a multiresolution wavelet method. The spectral Green's dyad of the structure is obtained and its joint spatial-spectral domain representations are presented. Based on the joint spatial-spectral domain representation, we show that the spectral-domain wavelets are useful in the analysis of this problem. We obtain the matrix equations of the integral equations of this Green's dyad by using the method of moment(MoM), and efficiently solve the problem using the spectral domain wavelet transform concepts in conjuction with the conjugate gradient method. The results for a single-layered square patch are compared with those of conventional MoM and CG-FFT.

In this paper, lumped-element isolator is analyzed and designed using the scattering matrix approach. Using the designed parameters, compact isolator with 7.0x7.0x2.3 mm$^3$ dimensions is fabricated and tested in 1.765GHz PCS phone band. Implemented isolator shows 29.95dB isolation characteristic at center frequency and has 0.35dB insertion loss in overall 30MHz operating bandwidth. Return losses of input and output port are measured below -19 dB. Experimental results show that the implemented isolator has better performances than the conventional one.

This paper presents the design and fabrication of waveguide E-plane metal insert bandpass filter for milli-meter waves which is analyzed transmission characteristics by calculating the generalized scattering matrix using mode-matching method. The bandpass filter was fabricated to verify the proposed method by the WR-34 rectangular waveguide to operate in 30.085 ~ 30.885 GHz. The fabricated waveguide E-plane metal insert band- pass filter was established the fact that it is so adaptive for milli-meter waves due to the measured data closely consistent with the results of analysis using mode-matching method, that is, the maximum value of insertion loss is 0.8 dB and the return loss is below -15 dB.
In this study, the effect of the microstructural evolution on the electrical of Cu-Ag microcomposite was investigated. The nature of interfaces between silver filaments and Cu matrix may have pronounced effects on the physical properties of Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites, little is known about these interfaces. In heavily drawn Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposities, the microstructure is too fine and the interfacial area is too large to maintsin a stable internal dislocation structure because of closely spaced filaments. Rather, most dislocations are thought to be gradually absorbed at the interfaces as the draw ratio increases. The mechanical and electrical properties of Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites wires were also examined and correlated with the microstructural change caused by thermomechanical treatments. The study on the electrical conductivity combined to resistivity in Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites and the rapid increase of the electrical conductivity at high annealing temperatures is mainly caused by the dissolution and coarsening of silver filaments. The relatively low ratio of the resistivities is mainly caused by the dissolution and coarsening of silver filaments. The relatively low ratio of the resistivities at 295K($\rho$\ulcorner/$\rho$\ulcorner) in as-drawn Cu-Ag microcomposites can also be explained by the contribution of the interface scattering.
Electromagnetic simulation was compared to the measurement with a network analyzer in the cavity resonator method which has been used for determining microwave quality factor. Scattering matrix $S_{12}$ obtained from the network analyzer was compared to the $S_{12}$ obtained from the simulation. The effects of the pore and the secondary phase of the dielectric resonator on the microwave quality factor were studied. From the simulated results, the dominant resonant $TE_{01\delta}$ mode was determined and the quality factor was observed to decrease with the pore and the secondary phase in the dielectrics.
The Born approximation is widely used for solving the complex scattering problems in electromagnetics. Approximating total internal electric field by the background field is reasonable for small material contrasts as long as scatterer is not too large and the frequency is not too high. However in many geophysical applications, moderate and high conductivity contrasts cause both real and imaginary part of internal electric field to differ greatly from background. In the extended Born approximation, which can improve the accuracy of Born approximation dramatically, the total electric field in the integral over the scattering volume is approximated by the background electric field projected to a depolarization tensor. The finite difference and elements methods are usually used in EM scattering problems with a 2D model and a 3D source, due to their capability for simulating complex subsurface conductivity distributions. The price paid for a 3D source is that many wavenumber domain solutions and their inverse Fourier transform must be computed. In these differential equation methods, all the area including homogeneous region should be discretized, which increases the number of nodes and matrix size. Therefore, the differential equation methods need a lot of computing time and large memory. In this study, EM modeling program for a 2D model and a 3D source is developed, which is based on the extended Born approximation. The solution is very fast and stable. Using the program, crosshole EM responses with a vertical magnetic dipole source are obtained and the results are compared with those of 3D integral equation solutions. The agreement between the integral equation solution and extended Born approximation is remarkable within the entire frequency range, but degrades with the increase of conductivity contrast between anomalous body and background medium. The extended Born approximation is accurate in the case conductivity contrast is lower than 1:10. Therefore, the location and conductivity of the anomalous body can be estimated effectively by the extended Born approximation although the quantitative estimate of conductivity is difficult for the case conductivity contrast is too high.

Recently, there has been substantial interest in flexible and wearable devices whose properties and performances are close to conventional devices on hard substrates. Despite the advancement on flexible devices with organic semiconductors or carbon nanotube films, their performances are limited by the carrier scattering at the molecular to molecular or nanotube-to-nanotube junctions. Here in this study, we demonstrate on the vertical semiconductor crystal array embedded in flexible polymer matrix. Such structures can relieve the strain effectively, thereby accommodating large flexural deformation. To achieve such structure, we first established a low-temperature solution-phase synthesis of single crystalline 3D architectures consisting of epitaxially grown ZnO constituent crystals by position and growth direction controlled growth strategy. The ZnO vertical crystal array was integrated into a piece of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate, which was then mechanically detached from the hard substrate to achieve the freestanding ZnO-polymer composite. In addition, the characteristics of transferred ZnO were confirmed by additional structural and photoluminescent measurements. The ZnO vertical crystal array embedded in PDMS was further employed as pressure sensor that exhibited an active response to the external pressure, by piezoelectric effect of ZnO crystal.
This study was undertaken to clarify the microstructure of the different IPS Empress ingots by etching and to observe the change of leucite crystal structure according to subsequent heat treatment and the crystal distribution according to sprue types(${\phi}2.8mm$, single sprue; ${\phi}1.8mm$, double sprue) by scanning electron microscopy. IPS Empress T1, O1 ingots used for staining technique, and Dentin(A2) ingots used for layering technique were selected for this study. To observe the microstructures of these ingots before pressing, the specimens were prepared in splinters($3{\times}3{\times}3mm$) taken from the original ingots. And to estimate crystal distribution and microstructural change by sprue type and subsequent heat treatment. the specimens($3{\times}3{\times}3mm$) were heat-pressed through the two types of sprues with different diameters and numbers, and all specimens were fired according to the recommended firing schedule. The observed surface was ground with waterproof papers($#800{\sim}#1800$) on the grind polisher and was cleaned ultrasonically. All specimen were etched with 0.5% hydrofluoric acid. After etching, the surface was treated by ion sputter coating for SEM observation at an accelerating voltage of 20kV. In all specimens, the central area of ground surface was observed because there was less difference in microstructure between the peripheral area and the central area. The results were as follows ; 1. In the microstructure according to the ingot type, there was a wide difference between the staining (T1,O1) and layering(Dentin A2) ingots, but there was not a considerable difference between the T1 ingot and the O1 ingot for staining technique. 2. In all specimens, the crystal dispersion of IPS Empress ceramic using double sprue was significantly more scattered than that of IPS Empress ceramic using single sprue. The degree of scattering was strongest in the Dentin(A2) specimen and weakest in the O1 ingot. 3. In the microstructural change according to the subsequent heat treatment, all of ingots had some microcracks in the inside of the leucite crystal and the glass matrix after pressing. The inner splinters of the leucite crystal became smaller, and more microcracks occurred in the glass matrix due to increasing heat treatment times. 4. The size of leucite crystals varied from $1{\mu}m\;to\;5{\mu}m$. The mean size of mature crystals was about $5{\mu}m$. The form of the crystal was similar to a circle when it was smaller and similar to an ellipse when it was larger.

This paper proposes a filtering method for effective state vector estimation of highly maneuvering target. It is needed to hit the point called 'sweet spot' to increase the kill probability in missile interception. In paper, a filtering method estimates the length of a moving target tracked by a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. High resolution range profiles (HRRPs) is generated from the radar echo signal and then it's integrated into proposed filtering method. To simulate the radar measurement which is close to real, the study on the properties of scattering point of the missile-like target has been conducted with ISAR image for different angle. Also, it is hard to track the target efficiently with existing Kalman filters which has fixed measurement noise covariance matrix R. Therefore the proposed method continuously updates the covariance matrix R with sensor measurements and tracks the target. Numerical simulations on the proposed method shows reliable results under reasonable assumptions on the missile interception scenario.
We have developed an algorithm based on the method of integral equations to simulate the magnetotelluric (MT) responses of three-dimensional (3-D) bodies in a layered half-space. The inhomogeneities are divided into a number of cells and are replaced by an equivalent current distribution which is approximated by pulse basis functions. A matrix equation is constructed using the electric Green's tensor function appropriate to a layered earth, and is solved for the vector current in each cell. Subsequently, scattered fields are found by integrating electric and magnetic Green's tensor functions over the scattering current About a 3-D conductive body near the earth's surface, interpretation using 2-D transverse electric modeling schemes can imply highly erratic low resistivities at depth. This is why these routines do not account for the effect of boundary charges. However, centrally located profiles across elongate 3-D prisms may be modeled accurately with a 2-D transverse magnetic algorithm, which implicitly includes boundary charges in its formulation. Multifrequency calculations show that apparent resistivity and impedance phase are really two complementary parameters. Hence, they should be treated simultaneously in broadband MT interpretation.
