Silica sand, zircon sand, and steel shots were used as mold packing materials in lost foam casting of the aluminum alloy bar. Vibration acceleration in three directions and temperatures in the casting and mold were measured, and packing and cooling characteristics of these materials were investigated. Packing densities increased with increase in vibration magnitude and time, and were $1.41{\sim}1.49g/cm^2$ for silica sand, $2.54{\sim}2.86g/cm^2$ for zircon sand, and $3.92{\sim}4.52g/cm^2$ for steel shots. Sound castings were obtained only without evacuation of the flask during pouring. Solidification time became faster in order of silica sand, zircon sand and steel shot packing because steel shot has the highest cooling capacity of them. Solidification time of steel shot packing was shortened to about 1/2 of silica sand packing. Cooling capacity of sand mold was generally evaluated by heat diffusivity of the mold, however could be simply evaluated with specific heat per unit volume of the packing material in lost foam casting.
In these days, there are out of natural sands in the construction field. It is required that development of substitute material for natural material. The blast-furnace slag could be a good alternative material in this situation. It can help resource recycling and the protection of environment. This study presents that the strength properties of mortar using air-cooled blast-furnace slag sand and water-cooled blast-furnace slag sand. The mixing design of this study have a few factors, three type of unit water, four types of W/C, five types of substitution rate. When air-cooled furnace slag sand used in mortar, as substitution rate is higher, 3, 7-days compression strength and flexural strength are going up. But, in case of water-cooled furnace slag sand mortar, strengths are going down.
Waste foundry sand of industrial waste which is happening by vast quantity according to fast development of industry has much the occurrence amount and processing method is depended on reclamation, and is using by fine aggregate for construction by recycling method among others. In this research Waste foundry sand powder into cement replace fare use possibility availability judge wish to Slump and air content decreased the replacement ratio increases by concrete special quality that do not harden according to experiment result, and unit capacity mass and bleeding increased the replacement ratio increases. Hardening concrete intensity special quality displayed strength improvement to replacement ratio 20%, and tendency that watertightness increases most in replacement ratio loft in watertight property appear. Considering the strength and watertight properties, the adequate usage of waste foundry sand powder is the 10% of replacement ratio.
This is the study for recycling waste foundry sand. Authors studied about main subject of grading of aggregate and three experimental items such as physical properties of waste foundry sand, optimum grading for concrete products of low water ratio, and quality variations of concrete products according to substitution proportion of fine aggregate as waste foundry sand. We were convinced of following results by experimental study. The first was that waste foundry sand was not fit as the aggregate for concrete because of bad qualities such as grading, unit weight, solid volume and passing 0.08 mm seive, so it is proper to composition using with other fine aggregetes. The second was that optimum grading is fineness modulus of 2.77 to 3.28 And the last is that optimum condition about substitution proportion as waste foundry sand is 10% fine aggregate.
The physical and chemical characteristics of more than 5 m sandy deposits behind the beach in Sinji-do Island are investigated and its burial ages are estimated using Optically Stimulated Luminescence. By the estimated burial ages of the sandy deposits, this section is divided into four sub-units: Unit I (6.2 ka), Unit II (23.2 ka), Unit III (115.9 ka), and Unit IV (115.9 to 127.5 ka). It can be proposed that the Unit I of a coarse sand deposited during the Holocene Climatic Optimum. Unit II, supposed to be the aeolian sediments, formed during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). It can be supposed that the study area was not affected by the marine processes during the LGM, directly. Unit III is more consolidated deposits of coarse silt to fine sand and deposited during the Last Interglacial Period. Unit IV mainly consist of beach gravels with sandy matrix deposited during the Marine Isotope Stage 5e (MIS 5e), and thus indicates that the sea level of the southwest sea had risen 3 to 5 m above present sea level during the MIS 5e.
Development of the construction industry generally exhausts natural aggregate. Hence it is problem to the lack of supply and quality deterioration, so the resource saving and protection of environment is made an effort through recycling by-product. This study presents that fundamental properties of concrete which used cooper slag as alternate sand of low fineness modulus and plan of cooper slag as concrete aggregate. Testing factors are concrete's slump, air contents, unit weight and compressive strength. The results of this study are as follows; (1) Concrete slump is generally satisfied with the condition but is inferior to the others in substitution rates 30%. Also air contents are 3.1-4.1% and go up according to increase substitution rate. (2) Unit weight increase in 1.1% as the mixing ratio of cooper slag argument 10%. (3) compressive strength of cooper slag concrete is similar to plain and especially higher 11-15% in W/C 45%, 50%. So it seems that aggregate mixed cooper slag is suitable to low water-cement ratio mixture.
This study is intended to investigate application of mica waste(MS) to fine aggregate for mortar by comparing it with cement mortar in which crushed sand(CS) and river sand(NS) are used. According to the results, as the physical properties of aggregate, specific gravity is large in order of MS, NS and CS, absorption ratio in order of MS, CS and NS, and unit weight and solid volume percentage in order of NS, CS and MS. In the case of MS mortar, mechanical properties, drying shrinkage and heat conduction ratio are reduced, but the radiative amount of infrared light is excellent compared with NS mortar. Fluidity and unit weight of MS mortar is larger than those of CS mortar, and strength does not make differences. Length change by drying shrinkage is larger, but heat conduction ratio and radiative amount of infrared light are smaller than CS mortar. Thus, it proves that MS can be used in place of NS and CS, but its quality is deteriorated slightly.

In this manuscript, $35m^3/d$ NF unit was designed and applied for surface water treatment of the River Nile water. Intake of Embaba drinking water treatment plant was selected to install that unit at since; it has the lowest water quality index value through the examined 6 sites in greater Cairo area. The optimized operating conditions were feed and permeate flow, 40 and $7m^3/d$, feed pressure 2.68 bar and flux rate $37.7l/m^2h$. The permeate water was drinkable according to Egyptian Ministerial decree 458/2007 for the tested parameters (physic-chemical, heavy metals, organic, algal, bacteriological and parasitological). Single and double sand filters were used as pretreatment for NF membranes but continuous clogging for sand filters moved us to use UF membrane as pretreatment for NF membrane.
This experimental study is aimed to increasing the velocity in the sewerage and also development of easy removal method for a corrosion and sand in the flow pipe. And the result by the increasing the out flow per unit time, diameter of sewerage pipe is becoming small size, cut down the construction fee and the same time reducing the tubulent flow pattern in the flow pipe. As a result of detected experimental velocity signal from the probe in the test wall surface, reducing the pump power and increasing the out flow unit time. Apparent water velocity decreases as the value of void ratio increases depends on the varies center of pipe.
