  • In this paper, we consider some approximate testings for the reliability of the stress-strength model when the stress X and strength Y each depends linearly on some explanatory variables z and w, respectively. We construct a bootstrap procedure for testing for various values of the reliability and compare the power of the bootstrap test with the test based on Mann-Whitney type estimator by Park et.al.(1996) for small and moderate sample size.

  • This paper is concerned with a regression model with nonlinear time series errors. Testing procedures for linearity of error terms are studied. To this end, large-sample properties of estimators of regression parameters and autoregression parameter are obtained. These results are then used to develop test statistics for testing linearity of errors. Some simulation studies are shown.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the problem of goodness of fit testing based on nonparametric function estimation techniques for the random censorship model. The small and large sample properties of the proposed test, $E_{mn}$, were investigated and it is shown that under the proportional hazard model $E_{mn}$ has higher power compared to the powers of the Kolmogorov -Smirnov, Kuiper, Cramer-von Mises, and analogue of the Cramer-von Mises type test statistic.

  • An adaptive distribution-free test is proposed for testing the equality of k independent distributions against unrestricted alternatives. In this paper, several rank-sum test statistics are considered as teh components of the adaptive one. The emprical powers of the adaptive testing procedure are compared to those of the classical F test and the component tests through a Monte Carlo study. The results show that the adaptive test has good power properties over a wide class of underlying distributions.

  • It is difficult to prepare a specimen for directly testing a tensile strength of soils. Therefore, a tensile strength of soils has been measured indirectly. In this study, a mold and sample preparation tool for directly testing a tensile strength of soils has been developed and a tensile strength of weakly cemented sand was measured by using such device. A compressive strength of the cemented sand was also measured and its value was 30 times greater than its tensile strength.

  • In this paper, we consider the permutation tests for the multivariate data under the two-sample problem setting. We review some testing procedures, which are parametric and nonparametric and compare them with the permutation ones. Then we consider to try to apply the permutation tests to the multivariate data having the continuous and discrete components together by choosing some suitable combining function through the partial testing. Finally we discuss more aspects for the permutation tests as concluding remarks.

  • Design of a degradation test without replacement is considered based on tightened critical value to reduce the evaluation testing time. The sample size, number of inspections, and the critical values are determined to assure the same probability of acceptance when the testing time is reduced to some degree. Photo-diode balance of an optical pickup is analyzed as a case study.

  • In this paper, we consider two components system which the lifetimes follow bivariate pareto model with bivariate random censored data. We assume that the censoring times are independent of the lifetimes of the two components. We develop large sample test for testing independence between two components. Also we present a simulation study which is the test based on asymptotic normal distribution in testing independence.

  • Change point testing problem is considered. Kernel density estimators are used for constructing proposed change point test statistics. The proposed method can be used to the hypothesis testing of not only parameter change but also distributional change. Bootstrap method is applied to get the sampling distribution of proposed test statistic. Small sample Monte Carlo Simulation were also conducted in order to show the performance of proposed method.

  • Using total time on test transform (TTT), a new approach is taken for testing exponentiality versus the unknown age, exponential better than equilibrium life in convex ordering (EBELC). Selected critical values are tabulated for sample size n =2(2)50 and powers of the test are estimated for some commonly used distributions in reliability. Finally real example is presented to illustrate the theoretical results.
