  • Recently, the importance of DRAM is very significant in multicore processors which are widely used in computers, laptops, tablet PCs, and mobile devices. To keep up with this, both industry and academia have actively studied various types of future DRAMs. Therefore, accurate DRAM model is requisite when evaluating the multicore processor performance. In this paper, a multicore processor trace-driven simulator which can couple with the cycle-accurate DRAM simulator has been developed. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the effect of cycle-accurate DDR3 model on the multicore processor performance has been evaluated.

  • As the IT environment changes with cloud computing and smart work, the existing perimeter security model is showing its limitations and Software Defined Perimeter is being discussed as an alternative. However, SDP Spec 1.0 does not specify the device registration procedure, policy distribution process and authentication key generation and sharing process. In this paper, we propose a method to solve the problem of SDP access control by improving the operation procedure of Single Packet Authentication. This paper suggests that the proposed method can implement a consistent and automated integrated access control policy compared to the existing access control methods.

  • If trace-driven or execution-driven simulation is used for the performance analysis of asymmetric multi-core processors, excessive time and much disk space are necessary. In this paper, statistical simulations are performed for asymmetric multi-core processors with various hardware configurations. For the experiment, SPEC 2000 benchmark programs are used for profiling and synthesis, which is supplied as input for the simulation of asymmetric multi-core processors. As a result, the performance of asymmetric multi-core processor obtained by statistical simulation is comparable to that of the trace-driven simulation with a tremendous reduction in the simulation time.

  • Recently, multicore processor system is widely adopted not only in general purpose computers but also in embedded systems and mobile devices in order to improve performance. Since the power dissipation issue of multicore processor system is very significant, it must be estimated accurately in the early design stage. In this paper, a fast power analysis tool for a high performance multicore processor based on the trace-driven simulator has been developed. To achieve it, the power dissipation of each hardware unit per core are added. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the trace-driven simulation has been performed to estimate the average power dissipation per instruction.

  • Trace-driven simulation is widely used for measuring the performance of a microprocessor in its initial design phase. However, since it requires much time and disk space, the statistical simulation has been studied as an alternative method. In this paper, statistical simulations are performed for a high performance superscalar microprocessor with a perceptron-based multiple branch predictor. For the verification, various hardware configurations are simulated using SPEC2000 benchmarks programs as input. As a result, we show that the statistical simulation is quite accurate and time saving for the evaluation of microprocessor architectures with multiple branch prediction.

  • Recent High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms can be classified as Shared-Memory Multiprocessors (SMP), Massively Parallel Processors (MPP), and Clusters of computing nodes. These platforms are deployed in many scientific and engineering applications which require very high demand on computing power. In order to realize an optimal performance for these applications, it is crucial to find and use the suitable computing platforms and programming paradigms. In this paper, we use SPEC HPC 2002 benchmark suite developed in various parallel programming models (MPI, OpenMP, and hybrid of MPI/OpenMP) to find an optimal computing environments and programming paradigms for them through their performance analyses.

  • In this paper, we study on the transformation technique of sequential programs for the purpose of 'exploiting parallelism' and 'improving locality'. Based on the analysis of loop procedures of sequential programs with the factor of dependency and locality, two transformation techniques of loop distribution and loop fusion are applied to them. Transformed programs can be easily expressed as a parallel program wit thread notation, having coarse-grain parallelism and improved locality. This means that those transformations can be useful tools for optimizing and automatic-parallelizing compiler construction. Application of those techniques to SPEC95 on a solaris machine with four SPARC processors show an improvement of execution time.

  • WTLS as secure protocol of WAP makes TLS that is used in wireless Intemet protocol for TCP security be appropriate for wireless environments. And purpose of WTLS is to provide safe and efficient services. WTLS protocol consists of 4 protocols(Handshake, ChangeCipherSpec, Alert, Application Data etc.). In this papers we analyze properties of Handshake protocol and procedures of establishing master secret in detail. And then we analyze securities against several attacker models with them for a basis. Also we propose new Handshake protocol that is secure against active attacker model and can provide various security services.

  • In order to apply reinforcement learning to a robot in a real environment, it is necessary to use simulation in a virtual environment because numerous iterative learning is required. In addition, it is difficult to apply a learning algorithm that requires a lot of computation for a robot with low-spec. hardware. In this study, ML-Agent, a reinforcement learning frame provided by Unity, was used as a virtual simulation environment to apply reinforcement learning to the obstacle collision avoidance problem of mobile robots with low-spec hardware. A DQN supported by ML-Agent is adopted as a reinforcement learning algorithm and the results for a real robot show that the number of collisions occurred less then 2 times per minute.

  • Flat panel based digital radiography (DR) systems have recently become useful and important in the field of diagnostic radiology. For DRs with amorphous silicon photosensors, CsI(TI) is normally used as the scintillator, which produces visible light corresponding to the absorbed radiation energy. The visible light photons are converted into electric signal in the amorphous silicon photodiodes which constitute a two dimensional array. In order to produce good quality images, detailed behaviors of DR detectors to radiation must be studied. The relationship between air exposure and the DR outputs has been investigated in many studies. But this relationship was investigated under the condition of the fixed tube voltage. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the DR outputs and X-ray in terms of the absorbed energy in the detector rather than the air exposure using SPEC-l8, an X-ray energy spectrum model. Measured exposure was compared with calculated exposure for obtaining the inherent filtration that is a important input variable of SPEC-l8. The absorbed energy in the detector was calculated using algorithm of calculating the absorbed energy in the material and pixel values of real images under various conditions was obtained. The characteristic curve was obtained using the relationship of two parameter and the results were verified using phantoms made of water and aluminum. The pixel values of the phantom image were estimated and compared with the characteristic curve under various conditions. It was found that the relationship between the DR outputs and the absorbed energy in the detector was almost linear. In a experiment using the phantoms, the estimated pixel values agreed with the characteristic curve, although the effect of scattered photons introduced some errors. However, effect of a scattered X-ray must be studied because it was not included in the calculation algorithm. The result of this study can provide useful information about a pre-processing of digital radiography.
