This study was a descriptive study to investigate the factors influencing on self-esteem, ego resilience, impulsivity and life stress on smartphone addiction among college students. The subjects include college students in some areas. Data was collected in November and December, 2018. Total 231 college students were analyzed in the study. Collected data was analyzed in frequency, percentage, and t-test to examine differences in smartphone addiction according to general characteristics. Pearson's correlation was performed to examine correlations between smartphone addiction and main variables, and the factors influencing smartphone addiction were analyzed in multiple regression. The findings show that genera, satisfaction with college life, hours of using a smartphone, hours of using SNS, ego resilience, impulsivity, and life stress had significant effects on smartphone addiction. The study examined relations between general characters and smartphone addiction and found that the level of smartphone addiction was high in female college students, those who were not satisfied with college life, and used a smartphone and SNS for many hours. Ego resilience had negative correlations with smartphone addiction, and impulsivity and life stress had positive correlations with it. Multi-variate regression analysis results show that gender, ego resilience, and life stress were factors that had important influences on the smartphone addiction of college students, having explanatory power of 35.6%. In short, colleges and universities need to develop a school-level program to improve the college life of students and reduce their stress to the minimum and create an environment of encouraging them to grow power of controlling their lives so that they can prevent smartphone addiction.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between smartphone addiction and interpersonal competence of college students using social network service(SNS) through smartphones. This study used a descriptive study design. The convenience sample consisted of 502 college students in six cities. The data were collected from May to June in 2012 using Korean Smartphone Addiction Proneness Scale and Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The results showed that 24.8% of SNS users were considered as a risk group, while 75.2% were normal user group. There were no significant differences of interpersonal competence between risk group and normal user group in the SNS users. However, risk group had higher self-disclosure scores than normal user group. The subjects who had higher scores for virtual life, one of smartphone addiction subdomains, had lower interpersonal competence and those with higher smartphone addiction scores showed lower score of managing interpersonal conflict in subdomains of interpersonal competence. These findings would contribute in development of preventive interventions for smartphone addiction and improvement program for interpersonal competence in college students.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between fear of missing out, addictive tendencies toward social network services (SNSs), and depression in colleges. Methods : The target subjects were students in colleges across gyeongnam & busan, to whom the purpose of the study was explained and who spontaneously agreed to participate. A survey was conducted with 302 participants over 31 days from March 7, 2022, and data from 299 responses was analyzed. Results : 1. Women felt a higher fear of missing out than men. 2. Women showed greater inability to control their use of SNSs, more SNS-related disorders in daily life, and greater immersion in and tolerance of SNSs when compared to men. 3. Women were more depressed than men. 4. Positive correlations were observed between the fear of missing out and SNS-addictive tendencies, between the fear of missing out and depression, and between SNS-addictive tendencies and depression. Conclusion : A comprehensive review of these findings suggests that women had overall higher levels of isolation fear, SNS-addictive tendencies, and depression than men. Based on this, universities should provide gender-specific educational programs around these issues; this student cohort will ultimately work in healthcare, and this kind of awareness will be essential for treating patients. Considering that the current situation poses unusual challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the study's results can serve as basic data for planning educational programs in the future. Over the coming years, comprehensive and continuous education and counselling relating to the fear of missing out, SNS addiction, and depression will be urgently required.

This study is a descriptive survey research on social network service addiction tendency and interpersonal relationships on college life adaptation among nursing students. The study period was from October 1 to 4, 2019, the survey was conducted for 228 first and third year nursing students located in G city. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 23.0 program using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The results of the study showed that there were differences in the subjects' college life adaptation depending on their gender (t=5.26, p<.001), daily average duration of using social network service (F=8.07, p<.001), and friends in real life (F=2.87, p=.037). College life adaptation had a significant correlation with social network service addiction tendency (r=-.31, p<.001) and interpersonal relationships (r=.52, p<.001), and social network service addiction tendency with interpersonal relationships had a significant correlation (r=-.17, p=.011). Factors that affected college life adaptation included interpersonal relationships (𝛽=.477, p<.001), gender (𝛽=-.198, p=.001), and daily average duration of using social network service (𝛽=-.177, p=.003), and the explanatory power of these factors was 37.8%. Based on the results of this study, it is thought that it is necessary to develop a program for a positive interpersonal relationship formation using social network service in order to improve the college life adaptation of nursing students.
Previous research about SNS users' intention was mainly focused on revisit intention, while this study reaches a research conclusion by considering both revisit and switching intention. According to the research result, (1) social interaction and SNS addiction influence other precedential factors; (2) enjoyment and usefulness increase SNS users' revisit intention; (3) SNS users would not consider switching to another SNS even they have negative opinions about their current SNS. This research result implies that, for SNS enterprises to dominate market, it is required to provide services so that SNS users can actively participate on social interaction activities, and a strategy is necessary to attract and turn SNS users with negative opinions into active participants.
