  • This paper deals with a supplier-managed inventory(SMI) control for a two-echelon supply chain model with a service facility and a single supplier. The service facility is allocated to customers and provides a service using items of inventory that are purchased from the supplier, Assuming that the supplier knows the information of customer queue length as well as inventory position in the service facility at the time when it makes a replenishment decision, we identify an optimal replenishment policy which minimizes the total supply chain costs by reflecting these information into the replenishment decision. Numerical analysis demonstrates that the SMI strategy can be more cost-effective when the information of both customer queue length and inventory position is shared than when the information of inventory position only is shared.

  • Through collaboration between buyers and suppliers, their companies try to achieve their own objectives and competitive advantages. And it is known that trust between them also would influence the effects of collaboration, which would increase their performances. In this study, above three domains of constructs : trust, collaborative behavior, performance are handled. From gathering data about a mobile networks industry and building a research model, we acquire the results of the study. Through nine hypotheses, the study show the results. The end of this paper describes managerial implications for collaborative performance and SCM strategy.

  • In this paper we propose an effective genetic algorithm for solving the integrated inventory and routing problem of supply chain composed of multi-warehouses and multi-retailers. Unlike extant studies dealing with integrated inventory and routing problem of supply chain, our model incorporates more realistic aspect such as positive inventory at the multi-warehouses under the assumption of inventory policy of power of two-replenishment-cycle. The objective is to determine replenishment intervals for the retailers and warehouses as well as the vehicles routes so that the total cost of delivery and inventory cost is minimized. A notable feature of our algorithm is that the procedure for evaluating the fitness of objective function has the computational complexity closing to linear function. Computational results show effectiveness of our algorithm.

  • Analytic models have been developed to solve integrated production-distribution problems in supply chain management (SCM). As one of major constraints in analytic models, capacity, which is the total operation time in this paper has mostly been known or disregarded assuming infinite capacity. Also, as major factors, machine processing time to fabricate or assemble a part or product at a certain machine center in production system and vehicle processing time to deliver a product to a customer by a certain vehicle in distribution system have been fixed and regarded as a static factor, But in the real systems significant differences exit between capacity and the required time to achieve the production-distribution plan and between processing time and consumed time to process a part or product. In this paper, capacity and processing times in the analytic model are considered as dynamic factors and adjusted by the results from independently developed simulation model, which includes general production-distribution characteristics. Through experiments, we obtain the more realistic solutions reflecting stochastic natures by performing the iterative analytic-simulation procedure.

  • Recently, the market of fiber and apparel industry is rapidly changing from producer to consumer oriented. This trend emphasizes the necessity of SCM systems being able to do flexible correspondences to the market changing through synthetically reflecting consumers' various needs and a variety of patterns. However, because traditional SCMs manage their supply chains being based on bar code systems from the production to the distribution, they are suffering from the needs of real time information sharing and have their essential restrictions in the response to the environmental changes of the market and consumers' needs. This paper suggests a new RFID based u-SCM system optimized into the fiber and apparel industry. The proposed system has the benefits that through basing on RPID can collect information of the production and the distribution real time and make better use of it and connect to the legacy systems organically via Web services and rapidly respond to the market changing and consumers' needs. Through implementation, it is demonstrated that the proposed system can effectively facilitate them.

  • The purpose of this study are to examine the supply chain management (SCM) actiities of apparel manufacturers and then to investigate the relation between apparel manufacturers' SCM activities and their major textile suppliers' and retaileers' characteristics. The data was collected from the apparel manufacturers categorized into the six product areas - woman's formal dress(30%), boy and girl's casual wear (30%), man's formal dress(15%), sports and golf wear(10%), inner wear (10%) and infant & children's wear(5%) - headquartered in Seoul, by quota convenience sampling during August 14-September 4 in 2003. From 150 questionnires of delivery, 125 were collected and 123 from 64 manufacturers were used for analysis. The SPSSWIN 10.0 was used for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and canonical correlation analysis. the results of the study are as follows : (1) The SCM activities of apparel manufacturers showed that the activity levels of the factors of information systems ans understanding of demand characteristics were ranked on top while the activity level of collaborative partnership factor was lowest. (2) As the level of SCM activities such as communication and exchange of opinion, and commitment and leadership of a top management became higher, the elements of delivery performance, interest in total cost and relationship of the textile suppliers were more improved. (3) The SCM activities such as communication an exchange of opinion, intgrated management organization, management flexibilty, and collaorative partnership contributed for improvement of collaborative relationship with retailers.

  • Radio frequency identification(RFID) is a system of technology that transmits digitally coded identity information in the form of a unique serial number of an object or person wirelessly, using radio waves. The primary use of RFID has been in asset tracking. This makes it highly useful across various industries for effective and efficient conduct of different business processes like supply chain management (SCM). As the use of RFID expands, the use of this technology is observed in such industries as transportation, traffic payment, hospital and medical care, education, and retail. Although this technology offers immense potential, it faces multifarious roadblocks, particularly in developing countries like India. Under this backdrop, this paper attempts to present an overview of the use and application RFID technology in India with a highlight on business-ecosystem for RFID in India. We also present various technical and non-technical challenges in the implementation of RFID in India.

  • This paper examines to focus on General Strategy of e-logistics activity for SCM(Supply Chain Management) Build-up, especially the field service logistics Integration. And this research analyzes the case study (Business of Strategy Group Unit) Survey) involving effective logistics management that leads customer satisfaction, seeking to find out the key elements of competitive policy. Because problems arise from the differences between their goals and structures, which cause each sied to feel vulneralbe to opportunism or shirking of responsibilities by the other. The goal of a logistics system is to ensure that every family planning client always receives the contraceptives partner wants, and that they are in good condition and have not expired. In order to select, procure, and distribute the right Quantities of the right contraceptives, managers of the logistics system must keep informed of the rates of use of each contraceptive and of the Quantity of available supplies. As a result, We propose that a firm's e-logistics strategy is an important locus innovation and a crucial source of value creation for the firm its suppliers, partners, and customers.

  • Supply Chain Management(SCM) system is a critical investment that can affect future competitiveness and performance of a company. When adopting a new SCM system, organizations experience increasing difficulty in decision making because information technology is changing so rapidly these days. Therefore, organizations have been looking for industry standards and proven methods of selection that they can utilize to choose the best SCM system. To select an optimum solution, we need to consider a number of different quantitative and qualitative factors such as cost, user interface and convenience, reference site, and so on. In this study, we propose a solution selection model of SCM systems using Fuzzy AHP to maximize the return on investment in information technology. The proposed model can systematically construct the objectives of SCM system selection to support the business goals.
