A Study on Hybrid Structure of Semi-Continuous HMM and RBF for Speaker Independent Speech Recognition (화자 독립 음성 인식을 위한 반연속 HMM과 RBF의 혼합 구조에 관한 연구)

  • It is the hybrid structure of HMM and neural network(NN) that shows high recognition rate in speech recognition algorithms. And it is a method which has majorities of statistical model and neural network model respectively. In this study, we propose a new style of the hybrid structure of semi-continuous HMM(SCHMM) and radial basis function(RBF), which re-estimates weighting coefficients probability affecting observation probability after Baum-Welch estimation. The proposed method takes account of the similarity of basis Auction of RBF's hidden layer and SCHMM's probability density functions so as to discriminate speech signals sensibly through the learned and estimated weighting coefficients of RBF. As simulation results show that the recognition rates of the hybrid structure SCHMM/RBF are higher than those of SCHMM in unlearned speakers' recognition experiment, the proposed method has been proved to be one which has more sensible property in recognition than SCHMM.

  • 본 논문에서는 SCHMM에 적용된 관찰 확률 최대화에 의한 화자 적응 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 SCHMM의 관찰 확률 밀도들이 새로운 화자의 음성 특징을 잘 표현하지 못하는 경우 인식 성능이 저하되는 것을 막기 위하여, 적응 데이터의 각 특징 벡터들이 최대의 관찰 확률을 가질 수 있도록 관찰 확률 밀도를 결정하는 평균 벡터 μ와 분산 행렬 Σ를 기울기 탐색(gradient search) 알고리즘에 의해 반복적으로 적응시켜 주는 방법이다. SCHMM의 상태 천이 확률 A와 혼합 밀도 계수 C는 관찰 확률 밀도 적응 과정 을 거친 후, 적응 데이터로부터 구한 확률과 기존 확률의 가중 평균을 취하는 과정을 반복 하여 적응시켜 주었다. 제안된 화자 적응 알고리즘을 사용하여 단독음 인식 실험을 수행한 결과, 화자 적응을 수행하지 않았을 때와 비교하여 화자 독립 시스템에서는 평균 9.8%, 남 성 화자 종속 시스템에서는 평균 46.0%, 여성 화자 종속 시스템에서는 평균 52.7%의 인식 률 향상을 보였다.

  • This paper describes the implementation and the evaluation of the speech recognition automatic exchange system. The system provides government or public offices, companies, educational institutions that are composed of large number of members and parts with exchange service using speech recognition technology. The recognizer of the system is a Speaker-Independent, Isolated-word, Flexible-Vocabulary recognizer based on SCHMM(Semi-Continuous Hidden Markov Model). For real-time implementation, DSP TMS320C32 made in Texas Instrument Inc. is used. The system operating terminal including the diagnosis of speech recognition DSP and the alternation of speech recognition candidates makes operation easy. In this experiment, 8 speakers pronounced words of 1,300 vocabulary related to automatic exchange system over wire telephone network and the recognition system achieved 91.5% of word accuracy.

  • This paper presents the improvement of the SCHMM using discrete VQ and One-Pass algorithm for keywords recognition in Korean continuous speech. The SCHMM using discrete VQ is a simple model that is composed of a variable mixture gaussian probability density function with dynamic mixture number. One-Pass algorithm is improved such that recognition rates are enhanced by fathoming any undesirable semisyllable with the low likelihood and the high duration penalty, and computation time is reduced by testing only the frame which is dissimilar to the previously testd frame. In recognition experiments for speaker-dependent case, the improved One-Pass algorithm has shown recognition rates as high as 99.7% and has reduced compution time by about 30% compared with the currently abailable one-pass algorithm.

  • 본 연구에서는 우리말 연속 숫자음 인식에서 본래의 숫자음을 변이 시키는 주된 요인인 연음현상에 대한 인식을 높이기 위해 별도의 연음부분의 레퍼런스를 작성하여 매칭 시키는 방식을 제안한다 또한 단모음으로 이루어진 /2/와 /5/의 연속된 음에 대하여도 레퍼런스를 작성하였다. 제안한 방식에 의하여 전체적으로 $1.4\%$정도 인식률이 상승됨을 볼 수 있다. 특히 발성 목록중 /82/, /62/, /31/, /15/, /75/ 등의 연음과 /226/, /755/등과 같이 모음의 연속된 발성이 포함된 숫자 열에서 제안된 방식이 인식률에 영향을 미치는 것을 볼 수가 있었다. 이는 연음에서 발생하는 오류가 연속 숫자음에 많은 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다. 그 외에 /22/, /55/등과 같이 단모음으로 이루어진 숫자음의 연속 발성 또한 인식률을 저하시키는데 한 요인으로 작용함으로서 이에 대한 레퍼런스도 작성하여 인식률이 상승되는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, the web-based speaker verification system is designed. To decide the speaker recognition algorithm applied to the web-based speaker verification system, the recognition performance and special features of the text-dependent speaker recognition algorithms(DTW, DHMM, SCHMM) are compared through the computer simulation. Using the results of computer simulation, select DHMM as speaker recognition algorithm at web-based speaker verification system because DHMM has the proper recognition performance and initial training utterance number. And by the three-tier method using the ActiveX, DCOM techniques web-based speaker verification system is designed to be operated in the distributed processing environment.

  • 본 논문에서는 음성 인식을 이용하여 전화를 교환해주는 자동 교환 시스템을 구현하고, 성능을 평가하였다. 구현된 시스템에는 필수적인 음성인식 이외에도 DSP 진단 기능, 인식 대상 어휘의 추가 및 변경기능, 음성 수집 기능 등이 구현 되었다. SCHMM (Semi-Continuous Hidden Markov Model)을 이용한 전화망에서의 화자 독립 고립 단어 가변 어휘 인식을 대상으로 하였으며, 실시간 구현을 위하여 Texas Instrument 사의 TMS320C32를 사용하였다〔6〕. 인식 어휘는 부서명 및 인명이고 1300여 단어일 때, 인식 성능은 91.5%이다.

The Comparison of Characteristics in various Speaker Adaptation Methods (여러 화자 적응 방법들의 특성 비교)

  • In this paper, we proposed various speaker adaptation methods and studied the performance of these methods. Methods which were studied in this paper are MAPE(Maximum A Posteriori Probability Estimation), ARTMAP. In order to evaluate the performance of these methods, we used Korean isolated digits as the experimental data, the hybrid speaker adaptation method, which unfied MAPE, linear spectral estimating and outpur probability of SCHMM, showed the better recognition result than those which performed other methods. And the method using ARTMAP showed the similar result to above hybrid method.

  • The conventional lip-synch system has a two-step process, speech segmentation and recognition. However, the difficulty of speech segmentation procedure and the inaccuracy of training data set due to the segmentation lead to a significant Performance degradation in the system. To cope with that, the connected vowel recognition method using Head-Body-Tail (HBT) model is proposed. The HBT model which is appropriate for handling relatively small sized vocabulary tasks reflects co-articulation effect efficiently. Moreover the 7 vowels are merged into 3 classes having similar lip shape while the system is optimized by employing a class dependent SCHMM structure. Additionally in both end sides of each word which has large variations, 8 components Gaussian mixture model is directly used to improve the ability of representation. Though the proposed method reveals similar performance with respect to the CHMM based on the HBT structure. the number of parameters is reduced by 33.92%. This reduction makes it a computationally efficient method enabling real time operation.
