Tsunami disaster caused great damages and very large victims especially when occurs in urban area along coastal region. Therefore information of evacuation in a map is very important for disaster preparedness in order to minimize the number of victims in affected area. Here, information generated from remote sensing satellite data (SPOT 5 and DEM) and secondary data (administration boundary and field survey data) are used to simulate evacuation route and to produce a map for Padang City. Vulnerability and evacuation areas are determined based on DEM. Landuse/landcover, accessibility areas, infrastructure and landmark are extracted from SPOT 5 data. All the data obtained from remote sensing and secondary data are integrated using geospatial modelling to determine evacuation routes. Finally the simulation of evacuation route in Padang City for tsunami preparedness is provided based on the parameters derived from remote sensing data such as distances from shelters, save zones, city's landmarks and the local community experiences how they can survive with the disaster.
For successful route guidance, navigation systems should provide to users more realistic and actual information such as photographs than those in either 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional models. In this paper, we propose a method for servicing photographs for route guidance in navigation systems. The method includes how to acquire photographs with the most successful view for the guidance, how to construct link information among them and navigational map data, and how to provide the images to users efficiently.
스케치맵의 분할 및 병합을 위한 질의처리 방법으로는 LCS(Longest Common Subsequence) 알고리즘을 사용하였다.
The LBS (Location-Based Services) are valuable information services combined the location of moving object with various contents such as map, POI (point of Interest), route and so on. The must general service of LBS is route determination service and its applicable parts are FMS (Fleet Management System), travel advisory system and mobile navigation system. The core function of route determination service is determination of optimal route from source to destination in various environments. The MODB (Moving Object Database) system, core part of LBS composition systems, is able to manage current or past location information of moving object and massive trajectory information stored in MODB is value-added data in CRM, ERP and data mining part. Also this past trajectory information can be helpful to determine optimal route. In this paper, we suggest methods to determine optimal route by querying past trajectory information in MODB system and verify the effectiveness of suggested method.
Railway route maps including subways is a guide map which offers transport information as well as cartographic diagrams and is not only a way of communication, but it should give also concrete image and pleasing form. The elements of route map should meet satisfaction requirement condition and design attributes with aesthetic principles. To guide passengers by giving geographic information effectively, we need to understanding the following concepts and its application of basic elements such as expressing its structure and value. Therefore it should appear as a diagram with typography, form, symbols and colour. This means the aim of a good visualization should be done by a method that is concrete and a synthesis of well composed elements.
Dynamic route guidance (DRG) finds the fastest path from a source to a destination location considering the real-time congestion information. In Korea, the traffic state information is available by the public transportation data (PTD) which is indexed on top of the node-link map (NLM). While the NLM is the authoritative low-detailed road network for major roads only, the OpenStreetMap road network (ORN) supports not only a high-detailed road network but also a few open-source routing engines, such as OSRM and Valhalla. In this paper, we propose a DRG framework based on road network matching between the NLM and ORN. This framework regularly retrieves the NLM-indexed PTD to construct a historical speed profile which is then mapped to ORN. Next, we extend the Valhalla routing engine to support dynamic routing based on the historical speed profile. The numerical results at the Yeoui-do island with collected 11-month PTD show that our DRG framework reduces the travel time up to 15.24 % and improves the estimation accuracy of travel time more than 5 times.
Among location-based systems, a route search service is very highly utilized as a representative technique, but it provides relatively low accuracy when we find a route path on foot in our real environment. In this paper, we design and implement an optimized route search technique based on user experience utilizing open APIs as location-based services. Finally, we develop an Android-based application to provide this feature. In our experiment, we found that our technique enhanced performance by about 14-36% compared to previous solutions, such as route path searches using map APIs. In addition, the performance of our technique can be further enhanced, as the number of users who find such optimized route path is increasing.
