The expanded role of courts in arbitral procedures is said to have certain detrimental effects on the cost-effective approach to arbitration. This is the case when the court is appointing an arbitrator, pursuant to the specific domestic legal regime. The danger of decisions, especially those with expanded role of courts can create delays and hurdles. Even with contradictory viewpoints, the role of the court should complement the arbitral tribunal and not impede the functioning of arbitration independent of the judicial system. In this paper, two recent cases in Korean Supreme Court are reviewed, trying to find the proper implications on further arbitration practices especially in the stage of arbitrator appointment. Even though the proper appointment of arbitrators is essential to the existence of valid arbitration proceedings, appointment of arbitrators by the courts should constitute an administrative power, and not a judicial power. The cases reviewed make clear that the court must play a facilitative role in international commercial arbitration by assisting the parties in appointing the arbitral tribunal, the court intervention must be kept to a minimum.
The complex roles of flagella in the pathogenesis of Campylobacter jejuni, a major cause of worldwide foodborne diarrheal disease, are important. Compared with the wild-type, an insertional mutation of the flgA gene (cj0769c) demonstrated significant decrease in the biofilm formation of C. jejuni NCTC11168 on major food contact surfaces, such as polystyrene, stainless steel, and borosilicate glass. The flgA mutant was completely devoid of flagella and non-motile whereas the wild-type displayed the full-length flagella and motility. In addition, the biofilm formation of the wild-type was inversely dependent on the viscosity of the media. These results support that flagellar-mediated motility plays a significant role in the biofilm formation of C. jejuni NCTC11168. Moreover, our adhesion assay suggests that it plays an important role during biofilm maturation after initial attachment. Furthermore, C. jejuni NCTC11168 wild-type formed biofilm with a net-like structure of extracellular fiber-like material, but such a structure was significantly reduced in the biofilm of the flgA mutant. It supports that the extracellular fiber-like material may play a significant role in the biofilm formation of C. jejuni. This study demonstrated that flgA is essential for flagellar biosynthesis and motility, and plays a significant role in the biofilm formation of C. jejuni NCTC11168.
Referral marketing plays an important role in promoting new products. When it comes to innovative agricultural products, early adopter's review or recommendation has a more critical impact on follower's purchase decision making. Hence, understanding of consumer's characteristics and needs play more important role in success of innovation. More particularly, other researchers pay attention to the role of consumer innovativeness. This study attempts to fill this gap in knowledge between innovative propensity of consumer and her/his intention to generate positive word of mouth about new agricultural products. Furthermore, in this paper, we adopt Vandecasteele and Geunes' motivated consumer innovativeness model to investigate consumer innovativeness in extrinsic motive and intrinsic motive level, and examine the moderating role of referral efficacy. For empirical verification, survey method is used for data collection. Partial least square (PLS) is adopted to analyze the data. Finally, several theoretical contributions and practical implications are discussed.
Proteins play a key role in many functions such as metabolic activity, differentiation, as cargos and cell fate regulators. It is necessary to know about the markers involved in male fertility in order to develop remedies for the treatment of male infertility. But, the role of the proteins is not limited to particular function in the biological systems. Some of the proteins act as ion channels such as catsper and proteins like Nanos acts as a translational repressor in germ cells and expressed in prenatal period whose role in male fertility is uncertain. Rbm5 is a pre mRNA splicing factor necessary for sperm differentiation whose loss of function results deficit in sperm production. DEFB114 is a beta defensin family protein necessary for sperm motility in LPS challenged mice where as TEX 101 is a plasma membrane specific germ cell protein whose function is not clearly known u to now. Gpr56 is another adhesion protein whose null mutation leads to arrest of production of pups in rats. Amyloid precursor protein role in Alzheimer's disease is already known but it plays an important role in male fertility also but its function is uncertain and has to be considered while targeting APP during the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The study on amyloid precursor protein in male fertility is a novel thing but requires further study in correlation to alzheimer's disease.
This study explores the role of the think tank as an intermediary organization in the open innovation system. Think tank has contributed to the policy process as a mediator between government and public and as a symbolic entity of intellectual innovation to produce knowledge to the public. As the innovation system matures, one of the major challenges in research and practice is the openness and collaboration in the science, technology, and innovation system. While previous literature highlighted the think tank as the knowledge arbitrager transforming ideas into policy issues, few studies address the research questions: Is the conventional role of the think tank still persistent in the open innovation system? What are the demanding roles? This paper tackles these questions by reviewing the current role of the South Korean think tank in the science & technology sector. Based on the open innovation framework, we suggest that think tanks need to play a bigger role as policy entrepreneurs, crossing policy borders and interacting with other partners.

Purpose: Religious facilities often intend to contribute to surrounding neighborhood and local community. While motivated by religious aims, churches can play a role in social welfare for elders in local community. It is obvious that the role will be different from official social welfare services from government and this study aims to examine the possibility of churches in the role of elderly social welfare in terms of space and program. Methods: Researchers interviewed management of four existing welfare programs by churces in order to understand operation of social welfare program for elders by churches. The second step was case study of four churches in Suwon City area. The potential for social welfare space use for elders was examined. Results: Researchers found the role of churches in providing welfare relevant programs and services but its function is not well established yet. Financial support is needed and another support is need from welfare experts. Implications: While churches has not well established the role in elderly welfare in local communities, churches can further develop welfare services utilizing space, manpower, and activity programs.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mothers' parental intelligence on children's peer play interaction and peer acceptance. The participants were 197 fiveyear- old children and their mothers of six kindergartens and child care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale(Choi & Shin, 2008), the Peer Rating Scale(Asher et al., 1979), and the Parental Intelligence Scale(Hyon, 2004) were used as measurements. The results of this study were as follows. Firstly, the higher scores in mothers' parental intelligence of encouragement, enhancement, rational authoritativeness, acceptance, control, and avoiding rejection roles, the more the children's positive behaviors were exhibited during the peer play. Secondly, children whose mothers provided higher levels in parental intelligence of empathy, encouragement, rational authoritativeness and enhancement roles were rated as displaying higher levels of children's peer acceptance. On the other hand, children whose mothers expressed higher parental intelligence level of the rejection role tended to have lower levels of peer acceptance.

DVRs are the most common recording and displaying devices used for surveillance. Video compression plays a key role in DVRs for saving storage; the video compression standard, H.264/AVC, has recently become the dominant choice for DVRs. DVRs require various display modes, such as fast-forward, backward play, and pause; these are called trick modes. The implementation of precise trick mode play requires a very high decoding capability or a very intelligent scheme in order to handle the high computation complexity. The complexity is increased in many surveillance applications where more than one camera is used to monitor multiple spots or to monitor the same area using various angles. An implementation of a trick mode play and a frame buffer management scheme for the hardware-based H.264/AVC codec for multi-channel is presented in this paper. The experimental results show that exact trick mode play is possible using a standard H.264/AVC video codec with keyframe encoding feature at the expense of bitstream size increase.

The purpose of this study was to examine the keywords of studies related to young children's play in the selected registered and candidate academic journals and the network of the keywords by conducting a semantic network analysis. The selected journals were published over the past decade in diverse fields of study that included social sciences and life sciences such as education and early childhood education. The findings of the study were as follows: First, there was a great increase in the studies related to early childhood play over the last five years in comparison with the first term(2009-2013). As a result of analyzing how many studies were included in the journals by field, the largest numbers of the studies were published in the field of education, followed by early childhood education, and life sciences. Second, when the network of the keywords was analyzed, the major keywords in the first term were playfulness, role play, young children, creativity, play, and peer play interaction. In the second term(2014-2018), playfulness was also the most frequently exhibited keyword, followed by young children, play, and peer play behavior. Keywords such as teacher-child interaction, language skills, happiness, cognitive ability, early childhood education newly appeared.
Despite their social mission, social enterprises work in the changing global economic environment and therefore face to comply with performance objectives. This situation means that human resources management strategy has a crucial role to play. Especially, the challenge in maintaining competitive efficiency depends on achieving a lower level of employee turnover. This study aims to investigate the role of job insecurity, job satisfaction, relationship with customers regarding the intention of retention among social enterprise workers. Data were collected in South Korea from 271 women employees in 36 social enterprises and the binomial logistic regression was used to assess the model hypothesized. As the result, social enterprise employees showed a considerably positive attitude toward the intent to stay their workplace. However, job insecurity appeared to have the strongest negative effect on the intention of retention, whereas job satisfaction and relationship with customers had the positive effects, above and beyond demographic variables and organization variables. The result suggested the human resource management can play a significant role in retaining social enterprise employees by reducing job instability and improving job satisfaction and customers management.
