  • In this paper, we present a supervision and coordination level monitoring the adaptive controller and taking appropriate ,actions if malfunctions are detected. Supervision and coordination level are consist of start-up part and run-time part. The start-up part involves tasks for the configuration and the implementation of controllers, and the run-time part involves tasks for the supervision and coordination of the controllers in closed-loop operation. Also, we show how a supervision level and a coordination level can be designed and what basic elements should be included. Finally, we show the robustness of this scheme by experimental results for task model.

  • When a .epsilon.$_{1}$-modification is applied to a plant with unmodeled dynamics and bounded output disturbance, the output error seems to be relatively large. A .epsilon.$_{1}$-modification with the same switching action as in the switching a modification is proposed to reduce the output proposed adaptive control scheme is to a second-oder plant and it can be asserted that the control objective is satisfied.

  • This paper related with the M-CMA adaptive equalization algorithm which is possible to improve the residual isi and robustness performance compare to the current MMA algorithm that is reduce the intersymbol interference occurs in channel when transmitting the QAM signal. The current MMA algorithm depend on the cost function and error function using fixed signal dispersion constant, but the M-CMA algorithm depend on the new proposed cost function and error function using multiple dispersion constant. By this, it is possible to having robustness of the CMA and simultaneous compensation of amplitude and phase of MMA. The computer simulation was performed in the same channel and noise environment for compare the proposed M-CMA and current MMA algorithm. The equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MD, MSE learning courves and SER, represents the robustness were used for performance index. As a result of simulation, the M-CMA has more superior to the MMA in robustness and other performance index.

  • In this paper, some candidates suggested for the improvement of the robustness in adaptive control systems are shortly surveyed. Using dead zone concept of error in adaptation process, gain retardation methods such as .sigma.-modification and parameter restriction method are those considered. Feedforward compensation and normalized adaptation technique are also considered. New modeling technique suggested by Donati et al is used for the indirect control of plants containing unmodeled dynamics. The frequency band of input signal, which is used as a test signal and control signal simultaneously, is directly related to the control of plants containing high frequency parastics. Computer simulation results of the some selected algorithms are shown.

  • In this paper, we present a new echo kernel, which is a modification of polar echo kernel. to improve the detection performance and robustness against attacks. Polar echo kernel may take advantage of large detection margin from the polarity of inserted echo signal, but its poor frequency response in low frequency band degrades sound quality. To solve this problem, we applied bipolar echo pulses to the polar echo kernel. Using the proposed echo kernel the distributions of autocepstrum peaks fur data ‘0’ and ‘1’ are located more distant and improvement of detection performance is achieved. It also makes the low frequency band flat so that the timbre difference in the polar echo kernel can be removed to reproduce the imperceptible sound qualify. Informal listening tests as well as robustness test against attacks were performed to evaluate the proposed echo kernel. Experimental results demonstrated the superiority of the proposed echo kernel to both conventional unipolar and polar echo kernels

  • This paper presents a robust discrete-time direct adaptive pole-placement with new discrete parameter adaptation algorithm (PAA), the standard RLS is suitably modified by adding a term which is exponentially proportional to the filtered tracking error and using a signal normalization. It is shown that it makes the overall adaptive system more robust in the presence of disturbances or unmodeled dynamics. In order to discuss the robustness improvement by using the input-output stability theory, the overall adaptive control system is reformulated and the sector theory is applied. In addition, computer simulation results are presented to complement the theoretical development.

  • A 0.18-${\mu}m$ 3.3 V grounded-gate NMOS (GGNMOS) I/O cell array for timing controller (TCON) application is proposed for improving electrical overstress (EOS) robustness. The improved cell array consists of 20 GGNMOS, 4 inserted well taps, 2 end-well taps and shallow trench isolation (STI). Technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulation results show that the inserted well taps and extended drain contact gate spacing (DCGS) is effective in preventing EOS failure, e.g. local burnout. Thermodynamic models for device simulation enable us to obtain lattice temperature distributions inside the cells. The peak value of the maximum lattice temperature in the improved GGNMOS cell array is lower than that in a conventional GGNMOS cell array. The inserted well taps also improve the uniformity of turn-on of GGNMOS cells. EOS test results show the validity of the simulation results on improvement of EOS robustness of the new GGNMOS I/O cell array.

  • This paper is concerned with applicability of two-degree-of-freedom controllers to the recently suggested i-PID controllers, in which unknown parts of the plant are taken into account without any modeling procedure. First, i-PID controller with two-degree-of-freedom is applied to a specific model, called Anisochronic model, to confirm the usefulness of this method. Second, using the original examples of i-PID controllers, it is confirmed that performance/robustness of system are to be improved due to two-degree-of-freedom, especially when the input changes suddenly. It is seen that as the desired robustness increases the optimal value of two-degree-of-freedom parameter ${\alpha}_A$ would be negative. It is checked and verified that if this value was limited to 1 or less as is generally known, performance would be degraded.

  • Quaternions have been commonly employed in color image processing, but when the existing pure quaternion representation for color images is used in perceptual hashing, it would degrade the robustness performance since it is sensitive to image manipulations. To improve the robustness in color image perceptual hashing, in this paper a full quaternion representation for color images is proposed by introducing the local image luminance variances. Based on this new representation, a novel Full Quaternion Discrete Cosine Transform (FQDCT)-based hashing is proposed, in which the Quaternion Discrete Cosine Transform (QDCT) is applied to the pseudo-randomly selected regions of the novel full quaternion image to construct two feature matrices. A new hash value in binary is generated from these two matrices. Our experimental results have validated the robustness improvement brought by the proposed full quaternion representation and demonstrated that better performance can be achieved in the proposed FQDCT-based hashing than that in other notable quaternion-based hashing schemes in terms of robustness and discriminability.

  • The main concern of this study is to integrate the EARSM into an industrial RANS solver in conjunction with the $k-{\omega}$ model, as proposed by Hellsten (EARSMKO2005). In order to improve the robustness, particular limiters are introduced to turbulent conservative variables, and a suitable full-approximation storage (FAS) multi-grid (MG) strategy is designed to incorporate turbulence model equations. The present limiters and MG strategy improve both robustness and efficiency significantly but without degenerating accuracy. Two discretization approachs for velocity gradient on cell interfaces are implemented and compared with each other. Numerical results of a three-dimensional supersonic square duct flow show that the proper discretization of velocity gradient improves the accuracy essentially. To assess the capability of the resulting EARSM $k-{\omega}$ model to predict complex engineering flow, the case of Common Research Model (CRM, Wing-Body) is performed. All the numerical results demonstrate that the resulting model performs well and is comparable to the standard two-equation models such as SST $k-{\omega}$ model in terms of computational effort, thus it is suitable for industrial applications.
