This paper proposes a robust back-stepping control with polynomial-type PD input for flexible joint robot manipulators to overcome parameter uncertainty. In the first step, a fictitious control is designed with polynomial-type PD input for the rigid link dynamic by the H-infinity control method. In second and third steps, the other fictitious control and real control are designed using saturation control and polynomial-type PD input based on the Lyapunov's second method. In each step, the designed robust inputs satisfy the L2-gain, which is equal to or less than gamma in the closed loop system. In contrast with the previous researches, the proposed method proves performance relations with PD gain from the robust gain. The performance robustness of the proposed control is verified through a 2-DOF robot manipulator with joint flexibility.

A class of robust control for flexible joint manipulators with nonlinearity mismatched uncertainty is designed based on Lyapunov approach. The uncertainties are unknown but their values are within certain prescribed sets. No statistic information of the uncertainties is imposed. The control which utilizes state transformation via virtual control is proposed. The resulting robust control guarantees practical stability for the transformed system and later the stability for the original system is proved. The designed robust control is implemented by experiments in a 2-link flexible joint manipulator.
We propose robust control scheme for flexible joint manipulator in the presence of nonlinearity and mismatched uncertainty. The control is designed based on Lyapunov approach. The robust control which is based on the computed torque scheme and state transformation via implanted control is introduced. The design procedure starts with the construction of linearized subsystems via the computed torque method and then uses state transformation. With this approach we do not impose an upper-bound constraint on the inertia matrix in case it is known. Thus, this control can be applied to arbitrary manipulators. The resulting robust control guarantees practical stability for both the transformed system and the original system. The transformation is only based on the possible bound of uncertainty.
The implementation of a robust $H_{\infty}$ Control, which is numerically efficient for uncertain nonlinear dynamics, on longitudinal and lateral autopilots is realised for a quarter scale Piper J3-Cub model accepted as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the condition of sensor noise and disturbance effects. The stability and control coefficients of the UAV are evaluated through XFLR5 software, which utilises a vortex lattice method at a predefined flight condition. After that, the longitudinal trim point is computed, and the linearization process is performed at this trim point. The "${\mu}$-Synthesis"-based robust $H_{\infty}$ control algorithm for roll, pitch and yaw displacement autopilots are developed for both longitudinal and lateral linearised nonlinear dynamics. Controller performances, closed-loop frequency responses, nominal and perturbed system responses are obtained under the conditions of disturbance and sensor noise. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control scheme achieves robust performance and guarantees stability under exogenous disturbance and measurement noise effects and model uncertainty.
We are concerned with the robust control problem for the Keller-Segel equations with the distributed control and disturbance. We consider the present problem as a differential game finding the best control which takes into account the worst disturbance. We prove the existence of solutions and the optimality conditions to a corresponding problem.

In this paper, the robust control scheme with the improved control performance within the boundary layer is proposed. In the control scheme, the robust controller based on the traditional variable structure control method is modified to have the adaptation within the boundary layer. From this controller, the width of the boundary layer where the robust control input is smoothened out can be given by an appropriate value. But the improved control performance within the boundary layer can be achieved without the so-called control chattering because the role of adaptive control is to compensate for the uncovered portions of the robust control occurred from the continuous approximation within the boundary layer Simulation tests for circular navigation of an underwater wall-ranging robot developed for inspection of wall surfaces in the research reactor, TRIGA MARK III, confirm the performance improvement. Notational Conventions Vectors are written in boldface roman lower-case letters, e.g., x and y. Matrices are written in upper-case roman letters, e.g., G and B. And ∥.∥ means the Euclidean norm.
Given a periodic reference signal or disturbance, repetitive control is a special control scheme to reduce a tracking error effectively by the periodic signal generator in the repetitive controller. In general, a repetitive controller is added on the existing feedback control system to improve the tracking performance. However, because the information used in the design of the feedback controller is not taken into account, the design problem of the repetitive controller is totally another problem irrespective of that of the feedback controller. In this paper, we present a more general method to design an add-on type repetitive controller using the information on the performance of the existing feedback control system. We first show that a robust stability condition of repetitive control systems is obtained using the well-known robust performance condition of general feedback control systems. It is also shown that we can obtain a steady-state tracking error described in a simple form without time-delay element if the robust stability condition is satisfied for the repetitive control system. From the obtained results, several design criterions for repetitive controller are provided. Through the simulation study, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified.

This article deals with the problem of designing a robust algorithm for the motion control of robot manipulator whose nonlinear dynamics contain various uncertainties. To ensure high performance of control system, a model-based feedforward compensation with continuous robust control has been developed. The control structure based on the deterministic approach consists of two parts : the nominal control law is first introduced to stabilize the system without uncertainties, then a robust nonlinear control law is adopted to compensate for both the resulting errors(or structured uncertainties) and unstructured uncertainties. The uncertainties assumed in this study are bounded by polynomials in the Euclidean norms of system states with known bounding coefficients. The presented control scheme is relatively simple as well as computationally efficient. With a feasible class of desired trajectories, the proposed control law provides sufficient criteria which guarantee that all possible responses of the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded in the presence of uncertainties. Therefore, the control algorithm proposed is shown to be robust with respect to the involved uncertainties.
An iterative robust control design for PZT using Gaussian wavelet networks is proposed. A Gaussian wavelet network with accurate approximation capability is employed to approximate the nonlinear hysteresis dynamics of PZT systems by using an iterative control algorithm. Depending on the finite number of wavelet basis functions which results in unavoidable approximation errors, a robust control law is provided to guarantee the stability of the closed-loop nano positioning system. Finally, the effectiveness of the robust control approach is illustrated through comparative simulations on a PZT.
In this paper, we proposed the problems of robust stability and 개bust H$_{\infty}$ control of discrete time-delay linear st.stems with Frobenius norm-bounded uncertainties. The existence condition and the design method of robust H$_{\infty}$ state feedback control]or are given. Through some changes of variables and Schur complement, the obtained sufficient condition can be rewritten as an LMI(linear matrix inequality) form in terms of all variables.
