  • This paper presents the design of an H$\infty$ based robust Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) supplementary controller to suppress the subsynchronous resonance (SSR) in the series-compensated system. The IEEE second benchmark, System-l model is employed for this study. In order to design the effective controller, the modal controllability and observability indices to the oscillation modes are considered. Comprehensive time domain simulations using a nonlinear system model that the proposed STATCOM supplementary controller can suppress the SSR efficiently in spite of the variations of power system operating conditions.

  • In this paper, we design the optimal satellite-tracking antenna $H_{\infty}$ control system using genetic algorithm(GA). To do this, we give gain and dynamics parameters to the weighting functions and apply GA with reference model to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter ${\gamma}$ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm which can design $H_{\infty}$ controller in the state space. These weighting functions and design parameter ${\gamma}$ are simultaneously optimized in tile search domain guaranteeing the robust stability of closed-loop system. The effectiveness of this satellite-tracking antenna $H_{\infty}$ control system is verified by computer simulation.

  • The ship's propulsion efficiency depends upon a combibation of engine and propeller. The propeller has better efficiency as the engine has lower rotational speed. This situation led the engine manufacures to design the engine that has lower speed, longer stroke and a small number of cylinders. With this new trends the conventional mechanical-hydrualic governors for engine speed control have been replaced by digital speed controllers which adopted the PID control or the optimal control algorithm. But these control algorithms have not enough robustness to suppress the variations of the delay-time and the parameter perturbation especially in low speed engine. In this study we consider the perturbations of the engine parameters as the modeling uncetainties and design a robust speed controller for marine medium speed diesel engine by means of $ extit{H}_{infty}$control theory having the central solution. By comparing the results of the robust speed controller with those of mechanical governor and PID controller, the validity of the robust speed controller under parameter variations is confirmed. The speed control of the experimental diesel engine of carried out using actuator which is composed of PWM signal generator and D.C servo motor.

  • A study on the robust control of a composite beam with a distributed PVDF sensor and piezo-ceramic actuator is presented in this paper. $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ natural frequencies are considered in the modeling, because robust control theory which has robustness to structured uncertainty is adopted to suppress the vibration. If the controllers designed by $H_{\infty}$ theory do not satisfy control performance, it is improved by $\mu$-synthesis method with D-K iteration so that the $\mu$-controller based on the structured singular value satisfies the nominal performance and robust performance. Simulation and experiment were carried out with the designed controller and the verification of the robust control properties was presented by results.

  • Disturbance observer, adaptive robust control, and enhanced internal model control are model based disturbance attenuation methods famous for robust motion controller which can satisfy desired performance and robustness of high-speed/high-accuracy positioning systems. In this paper, these are shown to be the same scheme with different parameterizations. To do this, a generalized framework, called as RIC(robust internal-loop compensator) is proposed and the conventional schemes are analyzed in the RIC framework. Through this analysis, it can be shown that there are inherent similarities between the schemes and advantages of the RIC in the viewpoint of controller design. This is verified through simulations and experiments.

  • This paper presents a control of active suspension system for quarter-car model with two-degree-of-freedom using $H_{inf}$ and nonlinear adaptive robust control method. Suspension dynamics is linear and treated by $H_{inf}$ method which guarantees the robustness of closed loop system under the presence of uncertainties and minimizes the effect of road disturbance to system. An Adaptive Robust Control (ARC) technique is used to design a force controller such that it is robust against actuator uncertainties. Simulation results are given for both frequency and time domains to verify the effectiveness of the designed controllers.

  • This paper discusses Robust $H{\infty}$ control problems for networked control systems (NCSs) with time delays and subject to norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. Based on a new discrete-time model, two approaches of robust controller design are proposed. A numerical example and experimental verification with an NCS test bed are given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed design methodologies.

  • The present paper is concerned with the robust decentralized stabilization problem of large-scale systems with time delays in the interconnections using sliding mode control. Based on Lyapunov stability theorem and H$_{\infty}$ theory, an existence condition of the sliding mode and a robust decentralized sliding mode controller are newly derived for large-scale systems under mismatched uncertainties. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the validity of the results developed in this paper.

  • 본 논문에서는 혼합감도문제를 이용하여 강인한 서보계를 구성함으로서 동위치 제어 시스템의 제어계를 설계하는 방법을 제안하였고, LQG를 이용한 다변수 디지털 서보 제어기 및 H$\infty$ 최적 제어기와의 비교실험을 통하여 제안된 제어기의 유용성을 입증하였다.

  • 기존에는 전동기 제어기법으로 PI제어기가 주로 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 실제 시스템의 경우 외란과 센서 잡음에 노출되기 쉽고, 모델의 불확실성에 대한 오차가 발생하기 때문에 보다 강인한 제어기법이 필요한 시점이다. $H{\infty}$제어기법은 명령 추종 성능, 시스템 모델 오차와 외란, 센서 잡음에 대해 강인성을 보장하는 고급제어기법으로서 현재 그 성능을 입증 받아 산업분야에서 다양하게 적용되고 있다. 본 논문은 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM)의 속도제어기에 $H{\infty}$제어기와 PI제어기를 적용하여 모의실험을 통한 성능비교를 통해 모델오차와 같은 시스템의 불확실성과 외란에 대해 $H{\infty}$제어기의 강인한 제어성능을 검증하였다.
