  • High-resolution satellite imagery has many benefits, compared to aerial photo in the wide area as well as multi-spectral character. So, it can be used well for constructing GIS data when making digital map. This study analysed the possibilities that road information derived automatically from IKONOS can be used for making ITS system or updating digital map of the urban areas where change frequently and producing satellite image map. In this study, Sobel was applied for road edge dectection after low pass filtering. As the results, it's possible for low pass filtering and high pass filtering to be used as the basic data for ITS construction when extracting edge roads and constructs according to the characteristic of high-resolution satellite imagery.

  • This study analyzes presentation methods of traffic guide maps to guide drivers easily and correctly to their destinations on complex road networks. The problems of Korea's guidance systems were analyzed and domestic and international road guide maps were compared. This study includes the problems of road number discernment, such as the sizes, colors and marking intervals on the map. The widths and colors of different hierarchical roads were evaluated. The indices, enlarged downtown maps and uncertainty of grade separation on the map were analyzed and the solutions were also provided.

  • The risk mitigation service based on network provides monitoring of the risk event data to be inputted and analyses its big data to be stored in real time. Furthermore, it performs the analysis of the plant disease risk such as a red tide, and livestock disease risk such a food-and-mouth disease, avian influenza, and rinderpest, and provides the mitigation service. The standardization road map for risk mitigation is the real time acquisition monitoring of risk events, and mitigation service for the risks.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the materials on Bangdapjin, summarize the excavation surveys and compare them with the past literature records and to determine the location of the Bangdapjin government office facilities. It was categorized into the castle in the original cadastral map, which allowed to identify the overall shape of Jionseong Castle. The Chi on the castle wall and Ongseong on the Munji have also been identified. The majority of state-owned land in the original cadastral map is usually concentrated at the point where the road from the north intersects with the road from the east to the castle, which is presumably where public buildings were located. One of the photos in the 1950s shows the presence of a building presumed to be an inn featuring, extraordinary shape that deserves special attention. The gate is believed to have had Ongseong due to evidence of a portion protruded at right angles from the castle according to the original cadastral map.

  • In navigator systems, keeping map data up-to-date is an important task. Manual update involves a substantial cost and it is difficult to achieve immediate reflection of changes with manual updates. In this paper, we present a method for trajectory-center extraction, which is essential for automatic road map generation with GPS data. Though clustered trajectories are necessary to extract the center road, real trajectories are not clustered. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new method using the maximum overlapping interval and trajectory clustering. Finally, we apply the Virtual Running method to extract the center road from the clustered trajectories. We conducted experiments on real massive taxi GPS data sets collected throughout Gang-Nam-Gu, Sung-Nam city and all parts of Seoul city. Experimental results showed that our method is stable and efficient for extracting the center trajectory of real roads.

  • In navigation system, a primary task is to compute the minimum cost route from the current location to the destination. One of major problems for navigation systems is that a significant amount of computation time is required when the digital road map is large. Since navigation systems are real time systems, it is critical that the path be computed while satisfying a time constraint. In this paper, we have developed a HiTi(Hierarchical MulTi) graph model for hierarchically structuring large digital road maps to speedup the minimum cost path computation. We propose a new shortest path algorithm named SPAH, which utilizes HiTi graph model of a digital road map for its computation. We prove that the shortest path computed by SPAH is the optimal. Our performance analysis of SPAH also showed that it significantly reduces the computation time over exiting methods. We present an in-depth experimental analysis of HiTi graph method by comparing it with other similar works.

  • The wavelet analysis method is introduced in this paper to study the nonstationary vibration of vehicles. A new road model, a so-called time domain correlated four-wheel road roughness, which considers the coherence relationships between the four wheels of a vehicle, has been newly developed. Based on a vehicle model with eight degrees of freedom, the analysis of nonstationary random vibration responses was carried out in a time domain on a computer. Verification of the simulation results show that the proposed road model is more accurate than previous ones and that the simulated responses are credible enough when compared with some references. Furthermore, by taking wavelet analysis on simulated signals, some substantial rules of vehicle nonstationary vibration, such as the relationship between each vibration level, and how the vibration energy flows on a time-frequency map, beyond those from conventional spectral analysis, were revealed, and these will be of much benefit to vehicle design.

  • Maps are one of the most complicated types of drawings. Drawing recognition technology is not yet sophisticated enough for automated map reading. To automatically extract a road map directly form more complicated topographical maps, a very complicated algorithm is needed, simce the image generally involves such complicated patterns as symbols, characters, residential sections, rivers, etc. This paper describes a new feature extraction method based on the human optical neural field. We apply this method to extract complete set of road segments from topographical maps. The proposed method successfully extract road segments from various areas.

  • For intelligent vehicles, recognizing the sounding is an important task. In this paper we propose an road area detection system. This system uses u-disparity and v-disparity map. v-disparity map is used to find the road area. u-disparity is used to cluster the area that is an object. The test results and overall system is discribed in this paper.
