This paper proposes a novel forward vehicle tracking algorithm based on the WMIL(Weighted Multiple Instance Learning) equipped with a particle filter. In the proposed algorithm Haar-like features are used to train a vehicle object detector to be tracked and the location of the object are obtained from the recognition result. In order to combine both the WMIL to construct the vehicle detector and the particle filter, the proposed algorithm updates the object location by executing the propagation, observation, estimation, and selection processes involved in particle filter instead of finding the credence map in the search area for every frame. The proposed algorithm inevitably increases the computation time because of the particle filter, but the tracking accuracy was highly improved compared to Ababoost, MIL(Multiple Instance Learning) and MIL-based ones so that the position error was 4.5 pixels in average for the videos of national high-way, express high-way, tunnel and urban paved road scene.
The method to replace asphalt and cement is needed to reduce the carbon emission on road. Polymeric material which is light and easy to handle while having complex function with less carbon emission would be highly effective when it replaced soil pavement containing cement. This study is intended to identify the usability of soil pavement containing organic solidification agent only through the field test. Pavement on bike trail still satisfied required bearing capacity coefficient in 3 months. Pavement after passing 1.6 bil units of bike through pavement acceleration test that simulated a long-term serviceability during a short-time still remained unaffected, demonstrating a long-term serviceability of soil pavement.

The exothermic property of electrical conductivity concrete would allow the heating system of house or snow melting system of tunnel, road or bridge deck. This study was performed on electric resistance, exothermic property and mechanical property of the mortar with graphite of carbon-based conductive material as a fundamental research for the heat conductive concrete development. As the results of this experiment, the increasement on the amorphous graphite substitution rate was found to decrease in the compressive strength, however, the electric resistance was found to be significantly lower. And, in order to demonstrate the exothermic property, the graphite was found to be included more than 15% of the total mortar volume. When low electric resistance obtained with a certain level of the graphite inclusion, exothermic value and applied voltage has a higher correlation, and the exothermic value and the square of the voltage appeared to be in a proportional relationship.
Hundreds of rock slopes are constructed along the road, highway and railroad in mountainous Kangwon province and managed by each authorities concerned. It is practically not possible to carry out detailed rock slope investigation owing to the tremendous number of slopes and budgetary limit. Therefore, it is reasonable to perform a step-by-step investigation consisted of basic and detailed survey program and practical rock slope hazard assesment method for person in charge is strongly required. Through the development and application of KSMR (Korean Slope Mass Rating), it was found that KSMR could be practically used as an alternative of SMR though the number of inputs were reduced. In addition, the difference of hazard assessment between KSMR and experts decreased in case of considering the height of slope.
Rock mass classification methods such as RMR and Q system have different characteristics each other in parameters considered and applications, and so it is very important to prescribe the relationship between parameters for the analysis of correlativity of these methods. With the Held data of RMR and Q estimation in road construction sites, the acquaintance relations between RMR and Q of rock mass classifications are analyzed. The correlation equations between parameters of RMR and Q, matrix of correlation coefficients and the generalized form of acquaintance relation matrix are derived. This acquaintance relation matrix can be further extended to the form of generalized acquaintance relation network, and could be used to analyze the correlativity and to enhance the utility of common rock mass classification methods.

Air pollution is increasing, along with consumption of fossil fuels such as coal and diesel gas. Air pollutants are known to be a major cause of respiratory-related illness and death, however, there are few reports on the genotoxic characterization of diverse air pollutants in Korea. In this study, we investigated the mutagenic activity of various particles such as diesel exhaust particles (DEP), combustion of rice straw (RSC), pine stem (PSC), and coal (CC), tunnel dust (TD), and road side dust (RD). Ultra-fine particles (UFPs) were collected by the glass fiber filter pad. Then, we performed a chemical analysis to see each of the component features of each particulate matter. The mutagenicity of various UFPs was determined by the Ames test with four Salmonella typhimurium strains with or without metabolic activation. The optimal concentrations of UFPs were selected based on result of a concentration decision test. Moreover, in order to compare relative mutagenicity among UFPs, we selected and tested DEP as mutation reference. DEP, RSC, and PSC induced concentration-dependent increases in revertant colony numbers with TA98, TA100, and TA1537 strains in the absence and presence of metabolic activation. DEP showed the highest specific activity among the particulate matters. In this study, we conclude that DEP, RSC, PSC, and TD displayed varying degrees of mutagenicity, and these results suggest that the mutagenicity of these air pollutants is associated with the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in these particulate matters.

In general, Korean Lightweight Concrete used Heat insulating material for building and filler for civil construction, backfill material for tunnel, office floor fillers, lightweight blocks and so on. These expand the range of use ALC(autoclaved lightweight concrete) on the soft-ground at regular intervals during road construction by installing piles used as substrates for the process is under study. In this study, behavior characteristics on the soft-ground of pavement analysis was used to test the geo-Centrifuge. Prototype pavement reduced to 1/30 slab form of the composition as kaolinite model tests were conducted in the soft ground. Pile Arrangement (having 36 component pile with an array of $3{\times}12$) was used to group of piles. Tests of gravity 30 level the centrifugal force acting Light-weight pavement models. Based on the Prototype pavement of the behavior characteristics of pavement behavior characteristics were estimated. FMA analysis of the 10 times as big 39.4kg (actual load 35 ton) of the lateral load is applied to the case 7.8mm (actual behavior 23.4mm) behavior was fine.
This paper is proposed to algorithm for measuring traffic information automatically, for example, volume count, speed and occupancy rate, from CCTV camera images installed on highway, add to function of image detectors which can be collected the traffic information. Recently the method of traffic informations are counted in lane one by one, but this manner is occurred critical errors by occlusion frequently in case of passing larger vehicles(bus, truck etc.) and is impossible to measure in the 8 lanes of highway. In this paper, installed the detection area include with all lanes, traffic informations are collected using tracking algorithm with passing vehicles individually in this detection area, thus possible to detect all of 8 lanes. The experiment have been conducted two different real road scenes for 20 minutes. For the experiments, the images are provided with CCTV camera which was installed at Kiheung Interchange upstream of Kyongbu highway, and video recording images at Chungkye Tunnel. For image processing, images captured by frame-grabber board 30 frames per second, $640{\times}480$ pixels resolution and 256 gray-levels to reduce the total amount of data to be interpreted.
For high-speed railways (HSR) in wind prone regions, wind barriers are often installed on bridges to ensure the running safety of trains. This paper analyzes the effect of wind barriers on the running safety of a high-speed train to cross winds when it passes on a bridge. Two simply-supported (S-S) PC bridges in China, one with 32 m box beams and the other with 16 m trough beams, are selected to perform the dynamic analyses. The bridges are modeled by 3-D finite elements and each vehicle in a train by a multi-rigid-body system connected with suspension springs and dashpots. The wind excitations on the train vehicles and the bridges are numerically simulated, using the static tri-component coefficients obtained from a wind tunnel test, taking into account the effects of wind barriers, train speed and the spatial correlation with wind forces on the deck. The whole histories of a train passing over the two bridges under strong cross winds are simulated and compared, considering variations of wind velocities, train speeds and without or with wind barriers. The threshold curves of wind velocity for train running safety on the two bridges are compared, from which the windbreak effect of the wind barrier are evaluated, based on which a beam structure with better performance is recommended.
Although the evaluation of the mechanical properties and behavior of discontinuous rock masses is very important for the design of underground openings, it has always been considered the most difficult problem. One of the difficulties in describing the rock mass behavior is assigning the appropriate constitutive model. This limitation may be overcome with the progress in discrete element software such as PFC, which does not need the user to prescribe a constitutive model for rock mass. Instead, the micro-scale properties of the intact rock and joints are defined and the macro-scale response results from those properties and the geometry of the problem. In this paper, a $30m{\times}30m{\times}30m$ jointed rock mass of road tunnel site was analyzed. A discrete fracture network was developed from the joint geometry obtained from core logging and surface survey. Using the discontinuities geometry from the DFN model, PFC simulations were carried out, starting with the intact rock and systematically adding the joints and the stress-strain response was recorded for each case. With the stress-strain response curves, the mechanical properties of discontinuous rock masses were determined and compared to the results of empirical methods such as RMR, Q and GSI. The values of Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and peak strength are almost similar from PFC model and Empirical methods. As expected, the presence of joints had a pronounced effect on mechanical properties of the rock mass. More importantly, the mechanical response of the PFC model was not determined by a user specified constitutive model.
