A Comparative Study on Responses to the Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for Patients between Korean and Japanese (한국인과 일본인의 환자용 사상체질 설문지 문항 응답 비교 연구)

  • Objectives This study was performed to compare responses of Korean to the Sasang Constitution questionnaire with those of Japanese and to learn difference in characteristic according to the Sasang Constitution between two countries. Methods 301 Korean visiting the department of the Sasang Constitution, Dong-Eui Medical Center in Busan, Korea from November 2006 to September 2010 responded to the SSCQ-P(Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for Patients). Sasang Constitution specialist interviewed subjects and diagnosed their Sasang Constitution. 361 Japanese visiting the center for Kampo Medicine, Keio University in Tokyo, Japan from January 2010 to February 2011 responded the SSCQ-J(Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for Japanese). The Sasang Constitution was diagnosed in the same way as Korean. We compare responses to the SSCQ-P in Korean with those to the SSCQ-J in Japanese. Results 1. Among Soyangin related 58 items of Sasang Constitution questionnaire, 26, 46.36% items had statistically significant response results in both Korean and Japanese and response disposition of all these items was same. Among Taeeumin related 68items, 36, 52.94% items had statistically significant response results in both Korean and Japanese. Of these, response disposition of 35 items was same and that of 1 item was different. Among Soeumin related 71 items, 31, 43.66% items had statistically significant response results in both Korean and Japanese. Of these, response disposition of 28 items was same and that of 3 items was different. 2. The proportion of items having statistical significance and same disposition in both Korean and Japanese by Sasang Constitutional characteristic category[Features and Way of Speaking, Physical Appearance, Temperament and Talent, Pathological Syndromes] was as follows; In Soyangin, the proportion in Pathological Syndromes was 27.8% and that in the others was more than 41.7%. In Taeeumin, the proportion in Pathological Syndromes was 33.3% and that in the others was more than 57.9%. In Soeumin, the proportion in Features and Way of Speaking was 70.6%, that in Physical Appearance was 8.3% and that in the others was 30~40%. Conclusions The response disposition of many of items having statistical significance between Korean and Japanese was same and that of a few was different. From this, there are many common Sasang Constitutional characteristics between two countries, and possibility of applying the Sasang Constitutional Medicine of Korea to Japan.

An Empirical Study on Behavior and Psychology Concerning Invoice Disposal in the Context of Courier Services: A Comparative Study on Korea and the U.S.

  • This study investigates responses to privacy concerns by analyzing the psychological and behavioral characteristics related to the disposition toward invoices of courier service users. To this end, we develop a theoretical framework by combining stimulus response theory, communication privacy management theory, the theory of reasoned action, and the theory of planned behavior. Based on the theoretical framework, we analyze the relationships between social influence, privacy propensity, privacy control, privacy risk, privacy concern, invoice disposition intention, and invoice disposition behavior in the context of courier services. To test our hypotheses, we survey courier service users in the U.S. and Korea. Using a structural equation model, we test the relationships among these various factors for the courier service users of the two countries. Results have distinct implications for the psychological and behavioral characteristics concerning the disposal of courier invoices and enable understanding of the characteristics of courier service customers of the two countries.

The V-Shaped Disposition Effect in the Stock Exchange of Thailand

  • The objective of this study is to investigate how investors in the Stock Exchange of Thailand practically trade in response to a magnitude of profits and losses, given a discussion of the widely well-known behavioral explanation, so called as the disposition effect. We provide empirical evidence of an existence of the V-shaped disposition effect, which has been recently found in several advanced equity markets. By adopting the methodology suggested by An's (2016) and Fama and Macbeth (1973), we document that stock return patterns in relation to aggregate unrealized gains and losses of investors are consistent with the V-shaped selling schedule, given an increase in unrealized gains and losses over the period of January 1996 to December 2015. The effect of unrealized gains is stronger than that of unrealized losses and this asymmetry underlies the existence of the V-shaped disposition effect in the Thai equity market. Interestingly, the effect of the V-shaped selling schedule is strongest over the short-term holding time horizon. Last but not the least, stocks for which investors have large unrealized gains and losses outperform in the following month and the long-short trading strategy, based on this premise, generates the average 1.7% monthly (equivalent to 20.0% per year) abnormal return.

  • We propose the intelligent tutoring system for the mobile english learning. The proposed system is based on the item response theory to analyze the level of learner. We define the types of item, teaching method and item disposition according to contents modeling. The system estimates the learner level and it gives the learning contents, the evaluation results, and feedback. The system gives those by inference engine which consists of learner's level estimation value, method diagnostic value and disposition diagnostic value.

The Effect of Multi-faceted Learning by Application Game-based Student Response System in Nursing Education : Focusing on Kahoot! (간호교육에서 게임기반 학생응답시스템을 적용한 다각적인 학습효과 : Kahoot!을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System) on nursing education. This study used an one group Pretest-posttest design. Participants were 179 nursing students from one D university located in Gwangju, Korea. The Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System) was provided for 6 times. Data were collected between August 26 and October 25, 2019. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. The results showed that learning engagement(t=-6.257, p=.000) was significantly higher than levels before Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System), critical thinking disposition(t=-2.163, p=.032) was significantly higher than levels before Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System), problem solving ability(t=-3.032, p=.003) was significantly higher than levels before Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System). Significant relationships were found among learning engagement(r=.375, p=.000), critical thinking disposition(r=.286, p=.000), problem solving ability(r=.291, p=.000) and learning satisfaction. The results of stepwise multiple regression indicates that learning engagement(β=.307, p=.000), problem solving ability(β=.158, p=.041) predicts 15.2% in learning satisfaction(F=16.905, p=.000). In conclusion, Kahoot!(Game-based Student Response System) is effective in improving learning engagement and problem solving ability to nursing education.

The Effects of Gratitude Enhancement Program on Psycho-social and Physical Health of Chronic Schizophrenia (감사증진프로그램이 만성 조현병 환자의 심리사회적·신체적 건강에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the Gratitude Enhancement Program on self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, gratitude disposition, subjective happiness, stress index in patients with chronic schizophrenia. Methods: The research was designed for a nonequivalent control group before and after the test design. The subjects of this study were 29 patients in the experimental group and 28 patients in the control group. The Gratitude Enhancement Program was conducted three times a week for a total of nine sessions. Data were collected with questionnaires and measured with autonomic nervous system response (stress index) and was analyzed by t-test, chi-square test, Fisher's exact, and repeated measures ANOVA with the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: There are no significant differences in the homogeneity test of a dependent variable between groups. The experimental group showed significant higher scores of self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, gratitude disposition, and subjective happiness than the control group. There was no significant difference in the stress index between two groups. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, this Gratitude Enhancement Program can be a good nursing intervention to improve self-esteem, interpersonal relationship, gratitude disposition, and subjective happiness for chronic schizophrenia patients.

Influence of Premenstrual Syndrome and Stress Response on Learning Flow in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 월경전증후군과 스트레스반응이 학습몰입도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among the variables and the influence of premenstrual syndrome and stress response on the learning flow of nursing students. Method : The participants were 162 nursing students in K city, who were surveyed between June 1 and June 10, 2018, using self-report questionnaire. Result: There were positive correlation between premenstrual syndrome of participants and stress response(r=.389, p<.001). There were negative correlation between premenstrual syndrome and learning flow(r=-1.93, p<.014), between stress response and learning flow(r=-.216 p<.001). The variables for learning flow where stress response(${\beta}=-.314$, p<.001) and Psychological change of menstruation(${\beta}=-.358$, p<.001), with a coefficient of determination($R^2$) of 30.3%. The result of this study will be useful in preparing basic date for improvement of the learning flow of the nursing students and it will be necessary to develop educational programs and strategies related with the premenstrual syndrome and stress response disposition.

The Job Status of Health Teacher, School Nurse, during Epidemic Outbreak of Influenza H1N1 in School (학교 신종플루 확산기 동안의 초등학교 보건교사의 직무현황)

  • Purpose: To identify the need to reform in the crisis response of Health Teacher, School Nurse, in elementary school during epidemic outbreak of influenza H1N1. Methods: 139 elementary health teachers, school nurse, in seoul elementary school responded in the questionnaire, and we analysed by using frequency and percent, t-test, and paired t-test. Results: The Job status became 121% more 'during influenza H1N1 (flu) outbreak' than Job status of 'before outbreak'. The proportion of the flu-related duty among their daily workload was up to 77.5%. The administration-related workload of the flu-related duty was 30.8%. and students' health assessment including temperature measurement 18.7%. Furthermore, an impediment of usual daily work due to an increaed flu-related workload was 95.7%, and no alternative plan such as disposition of assistant labor force was 86.1%. Especially, an impediment of health education was 61.0%, so the major concern was the loss of health education. We compared average scores (a five-point Likert scale) of health teachers' work motivation, exhaustion, work relationship and Job management of 'during' with 'before' flu-outbreak. The difference range of 'during' minus 'before' work motivation score was from -0.4 points to -0.9; work exhaustion range from 1.8 to 1.9; the difficulty of relationship between students, school personnel, parents of students, and health teachers from 1.4 points to 1.3 points; and the consideration of changing Job, taking time off from the Job and retirement from 1.4 to 1.6 points. Conclusion: The health teachers had a heavy workload due to flu-outbreak. They also experienced the impediment of usual work implementation. However, there was a shortage of alternative plan such as disposition of an assistant labor force. Under their Job status like this, the health teachers' motivation score was decreased and work exhaustion was increased. Furthermore, they had a lot of relation difficulty with students and school personnel. Therefore, we suggested that in contrast to the usual Job status, there is a need to have a prepared response during school crisis like flu-outbreak such as improved response system in seoul metropolitan education office, simplification or dispersion of administrative work, and temporary call-center for simple inquiries or advices.

Reflective Inquiry Disposition: Students' Responses to Different Class Types of Inquiry-based High School Earth Science (고등학교 지구과학 탐구활동에서 수업유형에 따른 학생들의 반성적 탐구의 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand characteristics of students' reflective inquiry disposition in the contexts of classroom and to find educational implications for the promotion of the reflective inquiry activity in the inquiry-based class. In this study, we determined a characteristic of the reflection inquiry by examining students' responses showed in response to the different class types in high school earth science inquiry class. The result of the study indicated that the difference between the newly developed class type to promote the reflective inquiry and the existing inquiry class type was found significant. The newly developed reflective inquiry class had a multitude of reflective inquiry statements related to various elements of data context in terms of the quantity and diversity of the reflective inquiry. In conclusion, we found that the newly developed class type had a positive impact on the students' reflective inquiry activity. We believe that the development of the inquiry activity to promote students' reflective inquiry is critical.

Sharing Activities in an Online Fashion Community - Focusing on Erving Goffman's Impression Management Theory - (온라인 패션 커뮤니티의 나눔 활동 - 어빙 고프만의 인상관리 이론을 중심으로 -)

  • This study focuses on online communities and the ritual conversations of users when participating in sharing activities. The study aims to understand the social and psychological phenomena that occur between users within the context of Erving Goffman's impression management theory. Case studies and a content analysis were conducted by collecting posts and comments related to fashion products in the sharing activities category on Naver Cafe "Family Sale." On the one hand, the study identified various disposition motives among givers, including a desire for recognition, self-expression, activation of the community, emotional sympathy, goodwill, play, and simple disposition. On the other hand, receivers' purchase motives included the need for a product, reciprocation based on a sense of belonging, play, gift-giving, and simple response. Analyzing the posts of givers and the comments of receivers of fashion products using impression management strategies and dramaturgical analysis, the study interpreted users' impression management and revealed propensities in fashion consumption: fashionability, conspicuousness, value orientation, and economic feasibility. Through ritual conversations, users managed to attain emotional stability on an individual level, while they reinforced collective bonds on a social level. They fulfilled their roles with their own narratives to achieve personal and collective goals in a non-face-to-face situations and non-monetary transactions. This study is significant in that it examines normative communication in an online community and user relationships to understand a recent phenomenon in the fashion industry.
