  • The focus of our work is to identify and understand the drivers of alliance performance so that businesses can maximize their chances of a successful alliance-an area that has received little attention in empirical modeling. Although both conceptual and applied research on alliances has increased, an empirically tested comprehensive theoretical model that explains alliance performance has yet to be developed. Using five salient perspective, namely market power theory, transaction cost theory, the resource-based view, institutional theory, real option theory, this paper attempts to provide a theoretical rationale linking motives of global alliance networks on firm's capabilities, partner's capabilities, operating structures, and performances of Korean companies. The key contribution of this study is that it paints a picture of what matters in driving alliance performance. Our work shows the complex nature of driving performance and the interplay of firm's capabilities, partner's capabilities, and operating structures for understanding alliance performances. This study has given us a small but significant step forward towards understanding the intricacies of alliance performance. We are now better able to understand the respective roles played by various alliance factors and derive insights that lead to improved alliance performance.

  • Social capital is an important resource for Korean immigrant children's successful school life in the U.S. because most immigrants are not familiar to new language and culture. However, immigrant parents and their children have limited ability to join and create social networks freely both inside and outside school. We, the researchers of this study, adopted qualitative research method: open-ended in-depth interview, coding and analysis based on grounded theory. The result of this study reveals that Korean immigrant parents utilize their coethnic networks in getting educational information and English plays important role in educational decision-making process of the parents.

  • The Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) has been proposed to accommodate frequent mobility of the Mobile Node. HMIPv6 can effectively reduce the signaling overhead and latency. However, it has a problem that the registration of a mobile node concentrates on the furthest MAP(Mobility Anchor Point) when the mobile node enters into a new domain. This paper proposes a new load distribution mechanism by using the concept of Nash Bargaining Solution. The main advantage of the proposed scheme can prevent load concentration from being registered to the specified MAP based on the weight value according to the available resource-ratio of a MAP. With a simulation study, the proposed scheme can improve network performance under widely diverse traffic load intensities.

  • The stock market serves as a representation of economic well-being in a country. Along with the myriad of economic predictors, specific knowledge possession may lead to different macro consequences of stock performance and market value. This study empirically investigates the capacity of possessing excellent intellectual capital to increase the performance and values of listed banks in Indonesia. The selection of banks as the primary data represents such sectors' capability to attract, employ, or exploit the excellent internal capacity under the discussion of resource-based view theory. At best to the authors' knowledge, this topic's findings are still elusive and debatable upon considering the direct and indirect relationships between the proposed exogenous and endogenous variables. Eighteen listed banks form the panel data throughout 2011-2016. This study employs a path analysis and Sobel test to obtain the results of the proposed hypothesis. The results report some positive relationships of the intellectual capital to firms' performances and values, directly and indirectly, with a substantial effect on the second model compared to the first model. This study highlighted knowledge's capacity as a vital basis to gauge the banks' performance and valuation. However, a better formulation of intellectual capital is required to capture a better measurement.

  • Multi-ports register could shared several instructions at the same time in read operation. We address a formal methods for describing timing analysis and resource restriction in pipeline super scalar process that having multi-Port registers. First, we specify in-order pipeline instructions, and then, extend timing analysis in out-of-order super-scalar. In this case, we find instruction pairs in any cycle which can execute same time, We use ACSR(Algebra of Communicating Shared Resources), a branch of formal methods based on process algebra, for instruction specification and modelling.

  • This paper addresses how model checking methods can be applied to utilization analysis of system. Measuring a system performance using simulation is an easy task but finding the bottleneck in a certain system is not an easy task. Especially, system is getting complicated and interacts with other systems, which makes the analysis very difficult. As an alternative approach, we show that can specify system utilization properties using temporal logic, and can find a reason of a system performance drop easily using model checking.

  • A model is presented in this paper to provide understanding of the supply chain integration and supply chain information practices' impact on the manufacturing industries. The supply chain information practices play a crucial role in sharing information between the members of SC network. Thus, it is important to develop a comprehensive understanding of the differences and similarities among ISI and information management. It will allow firms to systematically evaluate and carefully choose the information strategy. The empirical findings of this research offer essential and interesting insights about what role SCI, supply chain information and Supply chain ISI play in determining Malaysia's financial performance. The theoretical gaps addressed in this study are of significant importance, since a little empirical evidence is available regarding system infrastructure and supply chain information management's effectiveness. This research provides further paths of exploring system infrastructure and information management, thereby defining the manufacturing industries' next step in SCM struggle i.e. modifying total integrated SC principle in other manufacturing firms. The Resource-based theory discovered organizational resources as an essential organizational success ingredient. Therefore, in order to recognize its potential value, internal resources, for instance, information system and management must be fully utilized.

  • The effective management of knowledge has become one of the critical success factors in current organizations. In spite of the extensive use of Knowledge Management System (KMS), useful information and knowledge resources are still transmitted through personal networks among people in organizations. Thus, social network theory which focuses on social relationships in organization can be a fruitful theoretical resource for enhancing Knowledge Management (KM) performances. In this study, we investigate the effects of intra-team network characteristics (i.e., group density and degree of centralization) and external boundary spanning activities on knowledge management performances of a team. We also acknowledge that all group members do not necessarily agree on the team goal and actively disseminate useful information and knowledge. Drawing on the political perspective on KM which emphasizes the role of trust among group members, we examine the mediating effects of team trust between internal/external network characteristics and KM performances. From the data of 220 teams in financial companies in Korea, we found that: (1) group density had positive effects on KM performances (i.e., knowledge creation, sharing, and use). (2) However, centralization was not significantly associated with KM performances. (3) Team trust was found to be an important factor mediating the relationship between intra-team network characteristics, boundary spanning activities, and KM performances. Based on these results, we discuss and suggest possible implications of the findings when designing and implementing KM practices.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to analyze effects of the power and empowerment on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This study was based on the Kanter's theory of organizational empowerment. Method: A predictive, non-experimental design was used to test the model in a sample of 688 nurses working in 7 university hospitals that have over 500 beds in Seoul, Kyunggi and Kangwon provinces. The data were collected from December, 2003 to January, 2004. It was analyzed with descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation of SPSS and with path analysis of LISREL. Result: The formal and informal power had direct effects on empowerment. Formal power also had direct effects on informal power. Empowerment had direct effects on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Organizational commitment had direct effects on job satisfaction. There was positive effects in all of the variables. Conclusion: The positive changes show on personal behaviors and attitudes when the nurses who have formal and informal power are empowered. These findings would be important resource to nurse administrators for clinical implication.
